  1. Corey Kluber (RHP) 1-5, 4.27 vs. Chris Sale (LHP) 3-1, 5.09
  2. Well, you really don't want to be paying a guy $14.5M to be your 5th starter, but it's too late to worry about that now and just hope he keeps it going.
  3. Yeah it was hard to see that one coming.
  4. Tough day for the Hawks, but congrats to a very young Team USA on getting bronze at the Worlds.
  5. There are still only three hitters hitting near or above expectations, and one of those is Beckham who isn't playing every day.
  6. You never want to be the starting pitcher that breaks a winning streak, but you really, really don't want to be the starting pitcher that breaks a 4 game winning streak.
  7. Jeff Samardzija (RHP) 2-2, 4.80 vs. Scott Kazmir (LHP) 2-1, 2.78
  8. Final Preakness bets: $6 place bets each on 1, 8 ($12 total) $1 exacta box on 1, 2, 8 ($6 total) $6 exacta box on 1, 8 ($12 total) $3 trifecta box on 1, 2, 8 ($18 total)
  9. John Danks (LHP) 1-3, 5.12 vs Jesse Chavez (RHP) 1-3, 2.56
  10. It's now official - Sanchez called up to take Johnson's spot.
  11. Sox record is 3½ games better than Oakland, but Sox have a -35 run differential and Oakland has +1. Oakland's team OPS is 30 points better than the Sox (while playing in a very hitter-unfriendly home stadium), Oakland's starter ERA is 1.34 points better than the Sox. Only edge Sox have is a 1.32 point edge in reliever ERA.
  12. It's not unusual to only have 5-7 of the Derby horses running the Preakness, since it's the only time in a horse's career that he will run on that short of rest. The surprise is that there weren't more non-Derby horses entered, like one of the horses that got scratched from the Derby or a top filly that wasn't eligible for the Derby. This year, the rest of the field is pretty weak.
  13. Apparently, just start him in home night games and he'll be fine.
  14. I wouldn't mind being forced to start 15 more consecutive game threads
  15. Michah's OPS is only .631. You aren't really sacrificing much offense.
  16. One of those rules that you never think about because nobody ever tries to break it.
  17. GM gets the final say in the roster but the GM rarely goes against what the manager wants.
  18. I hope the Bulls can get Calipari. Not that I care about Calipari coaching the Bulls but I would thoroughly enjoy the months of depression and despair from Kentucky fans.
  19. There aren't really any other good horses out there. Problem is that the odds are so short that even the trifecta isn't going to pay that much--probably less than $100 even on the $4 bet.
  20. It's still early, but with LaRoche having a .364 OBP, Garcia having a .355 OBP and Melky having a .304 OBP, if those numbers don't change it may soon be time to consider moving one of the other two up to 2nd in the order and dropping Melky to 5th. And yes, I'm well aware that LaRoche and Garcia are not "high contact" guys that you like batting second, but Jose needs more baserunners on in front of him.
  21. I thought Micah needed to start the year at AAA. I thought Sanchez/Bonifacio should have been the 2B combo.
  22. He's going to choke in the playoffs every year? That's unfortunate.
  23. Carlos Rodon (LHP) 1-0, 2.92 vs. Jesse Hahn (RHP) 1-3, 4.73
