  1. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) My guess and I hope I'm very wrong is Iglesias, Middlebrooks, Ranaudo. Not a terrible deal as long as the White Sox are not sending back cash as well.
  2. Nice knowing you Alexei. While it was a love-hate relationship, you were a good player here. Enjoy Stl or Pitt.
  3. Olney, Heyman, and Bowden all tweet basically the same thing within minutes of each other... Is this the first time we have seen all three report the same thing at the same time? Might actually be true.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) Get Iglesias as 3rd piece of deal tonight and then deal Alexei to the Cardinals tomorrow? I can dig it.
  5. If Cliff Lee isn't involved, than there is either a trade coming out of no where, or the Red Sox are taking this whole misdirection game to a whole nother level, or there were just a whole bunch of coincidences going on tonight.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) That is a f***ton of salary going to the Red Sox The Red Sox can afford it, and I'm sure the Phillies are throwing in probably around 20 million or so over the length of Lee's contract. Phillies probably got a really nice package by throwing in some cash.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 08:40 PM) Phil Rogers ‏@ChiTribRogers 2m Reports of 3-tm White Sox-AZ-LAA trade are intriguing. Diamondbacks' Adam Eaton, Angels' Peter Bourjos among good targets for Rick Hahn. If the D'Backs/Sox could turn Ian Kennedy into Peter Bourjos, that would be highway robbery I would obviously prefer Eaton in CF, but Bourjos wouldn't be a bad consolation price. I don't think he will ever be a great hitter, might be able to turn out a few solid offensive seasons because of his speed, but he provides a whole lot of value with his speed, baseball IQ, and phenomenal defense. Him in CF at the cell, there would be a lot less flyballs landing between left center and right center. Also, I think a Bourjos for Kennedy trade isn't bad at all. Sure Kennedy has had a rough year thus far, but he has been money for the past three years, and his struggles this year appears to haven't had anything to do with his stuff.
  8. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) I don't see a playoff team parting with their CFer. I certainly do see your point, but to be fair, he's only been their starting CF for a little over a week now (even though he was projected to be the starter before the season and injuries). I guess while its unlikely he will be moved in any such trade, the DBacks do have a surplus of CF's with Parra, Eaton, and Pollack all being able to play there, so I like to think it is still possible they could move Eaton.
  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) I think the D-backs can keep their cash and up the return in prospects. Bad wording on my part, I meant add 4-5 on their payroll.
  10. This might be a bad suggestion, but would it make any sense to package De Aza in a package with Peavy to ARI if it got Adam Eaton back as one of the prospects? Something like: Peavy and De Aza for Kubel, Kennedy, Eaton, Owings, and Holmberg I don't know, probably unrealistic and I am just coming up with random ideas because I've fallen in love with Eaton as a prospect.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) I would also take Ian Kennedy back if I had to I agree. Plus, Kubel and Kennedy are both guys who have shown success in the past, so its not of the question that they both remember how to play good baseball again next year either. I actually really love the idea of Kubel and Kennedy coming back to the Sox as throw ins to balance out cash in the deal (Overall, I think the D-Backs would have to add 4-5 million to their payroll which is certainly doable for them regardless of what they say). Could turn out to be moves that really help the team next year, and if they suck, it's only one year of Kubel and you can dump Kennedy.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) Really? Who are you going to bench if both Dunn and Konerko are still around? Certainly not Paulie in the last two months of his MLB career, and benching Dunn doesn't help any, either. I guess the wording might be a little confusing. I meant to say I don't see a scenario where Dunn is traded if Andy Wilkins is the only option to replace him.
  13. I don't know why people think finding good, cost controlled, middle of the order bats is easy. Look at the White Sox for example. Haven't been able to develop a middle of the order bat since Magglio and Lee, and have been paying a lot of money to Dunn and Rios over the past 3-4 years with mixed results. If Matt Adams is available in a trade, it is imperative the White Sox get him. He could wind up being a bust, but his body of work shows there is a good chance he can be at least a good number 3 hitter for several years.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) I think the opposite. If the Sox move Peavy, it gives them more flexibility to send additional cash to move Rios (IMO) and potentially the same to move Dunn for a potentially attractive piece. I think if Peavy and Rios go today, we are in a good position to potentially move Alexei, Dunn, and obviously Lindstrom tomorrow! IF we hit on the Peavy and Rios trades, I'll be a happy camper. I really hope we see a Peavy and Ramirez trade to STL for Matt Adams today. If that happens, or any trade for any MLB ready 1B, I think you see Dunn and $$$ moved tomorrow to either Baltimore or Texas (if Texas gets Michael Young, they won't want Dunn). If no Matt Adams type player is acquired, I don't see Dunn being shipped out and Andy Wilkins called up to play the remainder of the year. I don't see Konerko getting shipped out basically because he has never given any indication he wants to leave the Sox, and Konerko is one of the guys on the team who casual fans still like and helps sell tickets in the final two months of a meaningless season.
  15. I don't see Choo coming to the Sox. He is going to whichever team losses out on Ellsbury I feel like and will get quite a hefty contract. I was thinking that Pence might be a realistic option, but it is looking more and more like San Francisco is going to pull out all the stops to resign him (unless that is all BS they made up to try and raise his trade value). If Rios is traded, I think the future RF will be someone acquired via trade this offseason.
  16. With Texas' offense really struggling, a Cruz suspension looming, Berkman likely not producing anymore this season, falling more and more behind Oakland, and being shut out for the 3rd time today in four games (That's almost White Sox offense bad), a Dunn, Rios, and $$$ to Texas trade is starting to make too much sense. It would be two big upgrades to what they currently have at DH/LF and wouldn't cost them as much as a trade for someone like Pence would (how much more are they really willing to deplete their system after the Garza trade).
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:06 PM) His option is $4 million right? There's better ways to spend that money this offseason. I'm not positive, but I think it can be up to 4 million with around 2 million guaranteed, and the rest being based on different escalators that he needs to hit.
  18. I think the Sox would be better off either packaging him as part of a bigger deal or just hanging on to him and pick up his option in the offseason. He's a solid middle reliever, and the return via a one for one trade probably wouldn't be worth it.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:48 PM) Profar for Dunn & Rios? Dude, I don't mean to hate, but you have a better chance of f***ing Aaliyah tonight than that trade ever taking place. I didn't say it would happen, but it would be sweet if it did.
  20. If Hahn was able to acquire Adams + for Peavy and Ramirez, and Profar for Dunn and Rios... I'd be okay with him getting a lifetime contract to be the GM of this team.
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) MLBInsidersLive says Cardinals willing 2 offer Adams,Butler,Blazek to WhiteSox 4 Peavy,Ramirez. You would like to see something else added to that deal, but it would be worth it just to get Adams. That is the young impact bat we have all wanted for a while now. Plus, while Butler and Blazek are both reliever, they both have solid floors and could both wind up being solid relievers for a couple years. Can contribute right away (Hahn and Co. want to get competitive sooner rather than later) and definitely safer acquisitions than some of the lower level position prospects
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) Actually making the playoffs one of these years could really help them in that effort. Hopefully that urgency to make the playoffs leads them to overpay for one of Ramirez, De Aza, Rios, or Lindstrom really soon!
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:15 AM) ADA can play CF. We don't have to care what he likes. He does fine out there when he doesn't have the yips like earlier this year Even last year when he wasn't making terrible plays left and right, he still left a lot to be desired out in CF. He is helped out tremendously by being able to play 81 of the games in CF at the Cell, one of the easiest center fields in the league, if not the easiest. His defense in CF certainly needs upgrading, and keeping him in CF next year would just be a sign of not having any intention of competing again as he is only a stop gap player in CF.
