  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Versus saying "call up whomever"? Are we ready for the return of Deuente Heath? Zach Stewart? Jeff Gray? Tony Pena Jr? Jhan Marinez? It is a triple A roster full of has-beens and never will be's. We've already seen enough Heath but yeah, I'd be fine calling up the rest of them to see what they can do at this point. It's beyond pitiful the effort of some of the guys on this team.
  2. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:58 AM) I would like to see my relief pitchers not go 2-0 all the damn time. Or if they throw balls, they are at least close enough to the zone to make the hitter at least THINK about swinging at them, instead of worm-burners like my golf drives. +1
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:52 AM) The guys who aren't up here are worse. That's why they aren't here. That's a cop out de facto response. The people who aren't up here would walk people on 4 pitches?!?!?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:48 AM) Who? That's what I'm saying... call up whomever and see what you got. It's better than trotting out people who you know will fail.
  5. Robin did they best he could considering the circumstances. With that being said, they should send people down that can't throw strikes and just bring up some relievers from the minors and see what they can do. I was at the game last night and this group in front of me left in front me saying "I'm not staying to keep watching these bums put people on base!" If you can't throw a strike, you are gone! We need to see if we have any capable relief help or this season is toast although it may already be.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:26 AM) They are sh!t. Descriptive one you are young padawan.
  7. There may be a thread on this already but I'm just curious what soxtalk nation thinks about our two catchers. Defensively, offensivebly, and tangibles. Discuss. (If there is a thread, I'm sure a mod will do what he must)
  8. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ May 22, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) Was really hoping to rain out tonight's game so we don't have to run into Buchholz who is pitching out of his mind. Ever since he got caught for cheating, he's been a changed man. Look at his stats if you don't believe me ;-)
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) Live tweet it for us Might be better for southsidepride to do as he has sick seats. I'm just a lowly in the outfield seat type of guy tonight.
  10. Man the weather is soooo crazy. Earlier today it was suppose to be raining during the game, now it's 40% at 10PM. Wow.
  11. I have tickets for tonight but I'm somewhat cheering for a rainout.
  12. Worley is the ace of that staff and he's now sporting a robust 7.21 ERA.
  13. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ May 22, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) Tickets right behind home plate tonight, never seen Sale pitch, and he is scratched. Why God, why do you hate me!?!? I feel your pain, even more so if you drove 2.5 hours from B-town to watch.
  14. I'm suppose to go to the game tonight but I'm not sure the weather will hold up. I read that it should be clear at game time but rain will fall toward the end. Is that was everyone else is reading?
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 21, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Exactly my point. Then you missed my point then. =)
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 21, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) Keppinger needs at-bats against good match-ups in order to get going. It's not a Little League team -- if we're going to have a shot to win we need more guys to find a way to produce. I like Gillaspie, but he's not carrying us into the postseason on his back. Not batting with two black holes on either side of him he won't.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) It's matchups--Boston sent back-to-back lefty starters. Match up smatch up... he's been one of the better hitters on the team and playing decent defense too. Kepp does not deserve to start with how atrocious and lackadasical he's been.
  18. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 21, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/ba...-jose-quintana/ Very nice write-up/preview from WEEI. Book on Doubront this year: Velo is down a couple ticks, walking a lot of guys and can't go deep in games. He's about to work his way out of the rotation it seems. Perfect candidate to no hit the SOX.
  19. Doubront must get hella runs support with the record and ERA he's posting.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 21, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) Quintana is also 3.5 years younger. Not sure why you're trying to compare the two at all. Well we're all just giving our ideal opinions on how Axelrod can improve as a pitcher so I'm not sure why I can't compare the two.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) 1. It isn't real likely he'll be adding any speed at this point in his career. 2. Adding pitch speed is often not about bulking up - in fact it is the opposite in many cases. Semantics. Quintana increased his fastball speed in the off season. He was around 88 last year and it's up to 90-92 now.
  22. I agree. He has great control but he needs to bulk up and increase his speeds.
  23. Kepp better produce tonight or someone should kick him square in his goddamn ovaries.
  24. Time to break up this losing streak. Axe man going for 2 in a row. #TWTW
