QUOTE (iamshack @ May 25, 2013 -> 08:51 AM) I think so, considering he is sort of on "probation" for doing this several times now. He said a few times "How long is it going to take?" Meaning either when will Angel Hernandez get fined or suspended, or perhaps even demoted, I assume...He then went on to mention just how commonplace it is for Angel to miss a call, including the "Just flip a coin, Angel" about 4 times... Those are pretty incendiary comments. I actually thought he was referring to instant replay.

White Sox vs Marlins game thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) But there is intent to kill. Manslaughter is where you never had the intent to kill them at all. Then that is the prosecutor's folly. I don't think anyone thinks that Zimmerman wanted to kill that boy.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) I have 10 minutes left on the last episode. I need to watch that before coming to your place Sunday morning at 1:50am.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) yeah some quick googling seems to indicate that he'd have to be charged with both upfront and a jury could convict of manslaughter but not murder. I wonder why they went with only 2nd degree murder. Isn't 2nd degree murder when you're not planning on killing someone but it happens?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) Just look to the comments sections on these articles where you see vile and often openly racist statements that Martin was a 'thug' who 'deserved it' and Zimmerman did society a favor by killing this punk before he inevitably committed more crimes. Yeah. That's unacceptable and sad. But people who say s*** like that are trolls or bonafide idiots. The internet and it anonymous factor have given people the audacity to spew their vile filth.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 24, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) Nope, it'll be a b**** for both sides. Edit: and yeah, I really hope he doesn't get hurt if he's found not guilty. I don't think he will. I'm just speculating but I think people will soon forget about it with everything else. There will be outrage, maybe a protest or two, but all in all, people will move on. If someone does, I hope they get the book thrown at them for their sheer stupidity.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 24, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) That's why this case will come down to whether the jury believes Zimmerman and finds him credible. And that's why the defense had a tough task to reverse the way he was portrayed in the media the weeks following the shooting as just another racist stereotyping an innocent black kid wearing a hoodie and eating skittles. Being a lawyer yourself, I bet you wouldn't want to touch this case with a 10 foot pole. That phone call really screwed Zimmerman. People can't help but to conclude that he went after him after the dispatcher told him not too. Either way, Zimmerman is pretty screwed regardless of the outcome of the trial.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) No, but it will go a long way in convincing straight-laced white people that Martin may have been more willing to initiate or escalate the situation...i dunno what the composition of the jury is though... If white people are the naive, I really feel sorry for them. There are so many different ways this scenario can go down it's not even funny. If Zimmerman got his ass kicked and then shot Trayvon after the fact, that's obvious. If Zimmerman chased him down and Trayvon got testy and a skirmish broke out then we have a situation. If Zimmerman was ambushed, got his ass beat, and then fired in self defense, then this should be an open and shut case. My question is, how do you prove any of it with 50% of the witnesses dead? This case is like a wirey, tanglely, thicket of bush.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 24, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) The point being, before much of anything was known about Martin or Zimmerman or what actually happened that night, everyone felt compelled to victimize Martin as just another black kid. So there was an overreaction to him as being a normal, good ol' american boy. LMAO. Being a black man myself, I know how full of s*** black people can be. If he were really a good kid, he would have did his best white guy voice saying "Is there a problem, kind sir?" when Zimmerman approached him or however it went down. Zimmerman would have been so flustered and would probably run away with his tail between his legs. I don't know how many times I pull this and people are just shocked stupid because they were expecting something else. Trayvon was troubled youth but since noone knows the sequence of events other than Zimmerman (since Martin is deceased) I suspect he'll be let off.

Who in the world said Trayvon was a good kid?!?!?

I spit out my water on my work terminal after reading Steve call J4L a f***ing idiot for his comments. I'm getting canned, thanks jerk.

Shut'em down Johnny.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 21, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/trayvo...-witness-758903 This was just released to the defense a few days ago. How can they withhold evidence like that from the defense? I actually remember this coming out when the story first broke. I don't think it can be refuted that Trayvon kicked Zimmerman's ass. It's all about how it started and how this concluded as tragically as it did.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Oh s***. Didn't even think of that. My wife will be so annoyed when I do nothing but watch 15 episodes of Arrested Development on Monday. That will be your 9-5 on Monday ;-)

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Marty just throws crap out there. Notice he goes days without posting when the Sox win. Matt Thornton was nothing until he came to the Sox. He was 29. Now he's the all time appearance leader in team history. Would Marty implode if the Sox went on a tear?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) I should take Monday off of work. LMAO. You don't already have Monday off?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) We all know what Steve is doing this weekend.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Yep, that's a pretty awful excuse by Flowers. Also if it's true, then shame on Ventura for not playing Gimenez more. Atleast Gimenez makes decent contact and can get a runner in.

All hitters have to do is sit dead red. He has to learn how to get his secondary stuff over and learn to control that fireballer arm of his.

.333/BA .400/OBP .651/SLG 1.051/OPS Yikes...

QUOTE (Jake @ May 23, 2013 -> 10:12 AM) This is the wrong comparison. With that said, who knows? Hopefully Tyler comes out of the off day rested and figures something out. Elaborate. You can't just state something so vague. That comes across as super dismissive.

Santiago will be an MLB starter at some point but that bullpen needs help and one of the two young studs will be able to assist in that manner.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 23, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) PHEGLEY!!! Will he get called up or are they going to let him develop?
-
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 23, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Yea other than the 1st inning he was pretty dominant. Once he started getting that breaking ball over we just needed to get him out of the game ASAP I was surprised when they brought him back out for the 7th after he threw 100+ in the first 6, but he still mowed em down 123. He was left off the hook a few times. He walked a few batters and we just didn't capitalize. That third inning was a chance to do some damage. There were a couple of well hit balls that just were hit right at defenders or defenders made spectacular plays.
