  1. Tigers at the one spot. That has to be a curse. This has us 2nd in the AL Central and I believe 8th in the AL...1. Tigers 2. Angels 3. Rangers 4. Rays 5. Yankees 6. Red Sox 7. Blue Jays 8. WHITE SOX Looking at that, are the Blue Jays really better than us? They have to play in the AL East. I think record wise we should be able to compete with them. The Red Sox have a ton of injuries already. I think that is going to affect the. If we move past those two teams, then we are #6 in the AL. At the very least, this should give us some hope. A comeback by Dunn would be huge. Heyman thinks that the comeback is probably going to happen.
  2. Knocking on wood. Knocking on a baseball bat made of wood. We start the season with nobody on the disabled list! Only team in MLB that has a blank list. http://stats.nypost.com/mlb/stats.asp?file=inj We are the healthiest team right now. Great job by Herm and his sidekick Lady Luck. Keep it up! I better knock on wood one more time.
  3. Well, he should be fine then against NL teams in the other divisions (like the Reds) for awhile. Phillies, Nationals, Braves should figure him out sooner. As for the Mets...well I wouldn't worry about them right now. haha! I think Buehrle should be able to have a good season this year. And don't forgot that he now gets to face the pitcher. Of course, he has to bat himself. He sucks at hitting even though he did hit a HR once.
  4. Kinda funny how they have a bar in there called CLEVELANDer.. And they beat Cleveland to win their first World Series. Personally I don't like the name Clevelander but I do like their staff and wading pool. That pool though is going to cause trouble though. Fights and people will try to push others into it. I like that we have some disagreement about how to feel about the Marlins. The Marlins are my favorite NL team. They were before even Guillen signing on. I am going to root for the Marlins. Marlins are no directly competing with the White Sox. I think somebody said that they are going to root for the Cubs over the Marlins? Really! The Marlins now are a bigger enemy than the Cubs? You would go to Wrigley Field to root for the Cubs over the Marlins? And maybe at a game the Buerhle is starting? I have a hard time imagining that. lol! Stadium looks nice to me. It is over the top. But definitely unique. Considering where they were playing, this is 1000x better. Miami Marlins. MMs or double Ms.
  5. Buerhle owned the NL when he pitched against them in interleague. I won't even bother looking up the stats. I would be disappointed if he pitched a bad game here. Now in the NL he gets to face the pitcher 2 to 3 times every start. Would like to see Buehrle get the Marlins their first win of the season and Guillen's first win as manager of the Marlins.
  6. Oh, crap. Indians have a day off in their first series. Actually, they could go 5th starter, 1st starter Masterson (would have normal rest), and then Jimenez. Only can hope that their first game (home opener) is a rainout.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) If he takes his medicine right away, he could pitch the last game in Cleveland vs Danks. This could help the White Sox, doesn't it? Wasn't it going to be Masterson vs Danks? And Indians have to change their rotation. Won't we really see their #5 starter and then their backup starter for first two games. They still could go to Masterson in the final game of that set or they might start Jimenez (if he serves his suspension at beginning of season). Instead of facing their 4th, 5th, and 1st starter, we face their 5th, 6th (emergency starter), and either 1st or 2nd
  8. 15-8 and no rainouts.
  9. It is a no-risk move, thus cannot say anything bad about it. However, he has to prove that he is ready to hit in the majors. He hasn't done that yet. If we needed to call up a AAA player, Dan Johnson or McPherson gets the call before Jackson.
  10. Good April Fool's Joke. You got me. I was fooled into believing that you thought Conor Jackson was a significant pickup.
  11. KW made the decision on this one. I would have prefer Bruney, even Stults. But willing to give him a chance. Control is the big problem here and the worst thing is to have a guy out of the bullpen struggling to find the strike zone.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) This is official now. I am a little bit worried about Danks in that first game. First opening day start and playing against his ex-team. Hope that I am wrong. Win that first game and we can win that series.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 05:28 PM) Phil Rogers ‏ @ChiTribRogers Stat of the spring for #whitesox's Chris Sale: 22/2 strikeout-walk ratio in 24 innings. He is the guy teams won't want to face. That is a great stat. I feel good about Sale's future as a starter with us. He might have some bumps in the road (hopefully not), but he should be a good one for awhile.
  14. Well, I don't think that this is entirely Ozzie's decision. Also, Marlins have to take the player who they think is better right now and that probably is Kearns (who beat out Rowand). Rowand signed a minor league contract with the Marlins. But he was released which gives him the chance to catch on with another team. This is what I thought Dan Johnson would do after not making the White Sox roster. But, we will still have Lamar Lance Dan Johnson in our minor league system.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) Crain threw a scoreless 8th on 11 pitches in his first game action back. Good news. White Sox winner, great pitching today. Great news. Spring Training is almost ovah! Put it on the board.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) Yes sir, routine grounder botched by the guy playing 2B. Morrison? I didn't know we had a Morrision. We once had Jim Morrision. Morrision and Gallagher. I have enjoyed their acts over the years.
  17. If he is willing to play in AAA, we definitely should sign him. Why not? I think that I have a plan for Rowand. Learn how to play all of the other positions...increases his chances of making a team. That is a grinder rule to me. "If you cannot make the roster at your current position, find another position until you make the roster." But I think that he will find a MLB team that needs an utility OF.
  18. Santiago just threw one pitch. I am following the box score. Was that where our error occurred?
  19. Couldn't Johnson just request to terminate the minor league contract? Wouldn't the White Sox or any other team agree to end the contract? Why keep a guy around who wants to be released? The Fukudome signing hurt Johnson's chances of making the team. He signed on before Fukudome did. If Fukudome isn't on the team, then Johnson probably would have made it.
  20. Don't think that we use off days to skip a starter. Like sometimes you skip your fifth starter as long as you don't have five games in a row without an offday. And sometime you can skip a starter turn b/c of rainouts/snowouts in April. I think that is good especially in the beginning of the season. I know that guys usually like to pitch every 5th day but with Sale trying to get into the groove and Peavy trying to start healthy..this should be a good rotation. And we have some insurance in our pen and/or AAA with Axelrod, Stewart, and eventually...hopefully soon Molina.
  21. There are plenty reasons to be hopeful. First, we are still undefeated in the 2012 regular season.
  22. Dan Johnson still sticking around? Going to accept minor league contract and not ask to be released? I thought that he would bolt to another team if he didn't make our team. Well, I take that as good news. Not a bad player to have at AAA as an insurance player.
  23. Rowand still fighting for a roster spot with the Marlins. Went 2-4 today and played all of the OF positions. Hope that he makes it. Pods and Pierre still playing for the Phillies in spring training. They batted 1-2 in the lineup today. Pierre went 2-4 and Pods went 0-4. I think that they are competing against one another for a spot.
  24. I think that he is ALL IN. lol. Why not? Don't think he would have signed up if he wasn't up to it. Don't think KW would have pursued him if he didn't think that Ventura could do the job. Like I said previously he is more like Manuel than Guillen. Thus, he might come across as not being passionate enough or not competitive enough...while he actually is. It is like comparing the pitching demeanors of Carlos Zambrano against the demeanor of Cliff Lee. Both want to win and pitch well. But if you only look at their demeanors you would think that Zambrano was the more passionate and competitive one.
  25. Any thoughts on Ventura's managing? He must be doing good b/c there haven't been any complaints on this thread for awhile. Maybe an UTR manager? More like Jerry Manuel than Ozzie Guillen. Inspired by Gandhi & MLK perhaps?
