  1. QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Does the potential Bud Norris injury pretty much dictate that the Dodgers have to get another starter? Not necessarily Q, but wouldn't they also be looking at Shields or Gonzalez at this point? Even if Norris was injured, instead of trading for Shields or Gonzalez they would (or should) just promote Jose De Leon.
  2. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) Maybe Gonzalez. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) I think you have to give him some credit for Shields as well. Ignoring ERA, Gonzalez has pitched almost exactly the same as he did with the Orioles, and Shields has been demonstrably worse with the White Sox than with the Padres.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) 27 year old prospect who got lit up in the MLB and has a 3.38 ERA in the minors He pitched 2 innings in MLB and struck out 4 guys to no walks. It's a good return for a guy with a 5 ERA, peripherals around 4.50 and still owed $11m this year and next.
  4. Reasonable looking prospect too. If Gonzalez and Shields are still here Tuesday we riot.
  5. Is there really a strong history of excellent setup guys who get promoted to closers and then become demonstrably worse pitchers?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) A negative 31 wrc+ isn't good? Better than -32. Quit being so negative.
  7. Tilson featured on Fangraphs series 'The Fringe 5 - Baseball's Most Compelling Fringe Prospects' at the beginning of the month. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-...e-prospects-73/ Tilson also featured at number 84 on the Fangraphs KATOH Top-100 Projection System: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-improved...h-top-100-list/
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 06:49 AM) s*** like this happens. They lost this guy. They also signed Quintana and Miguel Gonzalez for nothing. It happens when you don't particularly value fantastic minor league stats because of silly baseball truisms. We all know about Quintana, which was obviously great, but was also years ago. And Guerra has pitched significantly better than, and has 5x the team control of Gonzalez, hence the different trade interest.
  9. I know I'm obsessed but whatever. price on junior guerra is "higher than cashner." and should be. 7-2, 2.70, plus 5 yrs control. #crew not anxious to deal https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/759366617100845056
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) Yency Almonte Who is, by the way, pitching very nicely at A+
  11. Kahnle had 7 strikeouts and 9 walks in 9.1 IP. Why put him in that game?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Navarro with the worst frame of all time https://mobile.twitter.com/WhiteSoxUmp/stat...231665759723523 https://twitter.com/WriteSox/status/759232609792757760 That signing coupled with things like letting Junior Guerra and Marcus Semien go cheaply really makes me question Rick Hahn's grasp of advanced stats/peripherals/predictive stats.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) Stone Pony just said Moncada got pulled from the game in AA He didn't
  14. That's photoshopped, the text on Snapchat (where the '3m ago' is) doesn't look like that
  15. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) 3 hitless innings from Hansen now. 4 K to 1 BB. Fastball is up to 95, changeup getting plenty of swings and misses. He also hit a batter.
  16. a lot of scouts r in milwaukee, not all to see lucroy but also 31-yr-old journeyman junior guerra. has shutout going in 6th https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/759203452392177665 Guerra is 6.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 5K. 2.68 ERA on the year. We are so dumb.
  17. Listening to the Great Falls broadcast, Alec Hansen struck out the first 2 batters he faced, walked the third on a 3-2 count, and got a grounder to end the inning. Lots of swinging strikes too.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 07:21 PM) I am more interested in the 14 wins If that's your level of evaluating a pitcher then we have nothing to talk about here
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) What the hell are you talking about? I'm talking about how the White Sox and Don Cooper decided to emphasise slower fastballs and reduced changeups to try to pitch to contact instead of striking out hitters in an ill-fated plot to get deeper into games and as a result Sale's K/9 has dropped from 11.8 to 8.5 and the best ERA estimator has him jumping from 2.52 last year to 3.59 this year.
  20. Only the White Sox could take a Hall of Fame pitcher and think "hmm, there's something we have to change here", and instantly turn him into a number 2 starter.
  21. Spencer Adams getting knocked around. What a ridiculous promotion.
  22. It's not even just about the results. Chris Sale starts used to be a thrill. Now they're just another start.
