6/15/2016 Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox
Feeky Magee replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Tigers are as bad as us at baseball decisions. No way should Mike Pelfrey be an MLB starter. -
Weekly reminder that Kenny Williams said in spring training 2016 that Avi could steal 30 bases in a season. He is 1 for 3 in SB attempts halfway through June.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) He is hitting a whole .262 in AAA? Would you prefer he hit .292 with no walks and homers?
-
Danny Hayes hitting .262/.362/.512 for Charlotte, good for a 150 wRC+, DH option
-
Also, intentionally walking guys not named Barry Bonds in the third inning is generally a very bad idea
-
Thinking Avi Garcia can play right field is a fireable offence. And whomever said he could play centre-field when we traded for him, that's an arrestable offence.
-
Why. Is. Avi. In. The. Field.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) True enough but being good with RISP would seem to be pretty important for a team that can't hit very well in general so when guys do get on base driving them in becomes even more important. Being good with RISP isn't even remotely close to being a repeatable skill.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) Josh Phegley's hitting .308, fwiw. Worst. Trade. Ever.

QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) It seems this isn't the sport for you. All managers get into these things with umps and get ejected, but Robin can barely be bothered to stay awake let alone "bully" anybody. LOL. It was really funny to hear Robin be called a bully. In his professional career - he's actually famous for getting his ass kicked by a "bully" pitcher when he started it. It's not Robin - it's everyone. I just think it's stupid.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) He got thrown out when he was in the dugout. It is automatic when you argue balls and strikes although they usually give you a little leeway if you are chirping from the dugout. Once your tossed, you might as well get your money's worth. It may get you a call later especially if you are like Robin and not always screaming. No I get it, I just disagree with the bolded logic. I just don't see the point of getting right up in their face and screaming. Wouldn't it be just as effective to go out there and just say it to them? Hell shout if you want. But what's the need to put your face a foot away from theirs and scream straight into it? Alright if it was a one-off from someone who completely lost their head but it's done so often and it's just baffling to me as an outsider.
-
QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) ????? In any other context, someone standing less than a foot away from your face and screaming would be classified as bullying, or whatever synonym you want to use. It looks normal to you because baseball managers have always done it, but for someone like me who just came into baseball in the last 3 years, it looks absurd.
-
Hate this "tradition" of managers getting right up in umpire's faces screaming their heads off. Probably looks normal to you guys who grew up with it but looks ridiculous to me. You can make the point without borderline bullying.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) Aviles saved a run there. Must be nice Listen, we need him out there to get his .247/.301/.376 into the lineup
-
Sox will lose this 8-7 just to demonstrate how horrible, awful, terrible, no-good and inexplicable it was that Tyler Danish was in the game
-
Probably even a worse decision than Danish to have Parnell out there now. He just can't throw strikes last 2 years.
-
Like I've been tracking every Danish start this season and after pretty much every one I was like "yeah, AA is gonna be a big challenge for this guy to break through" and then BAM he's pitching in a 7-6 MLB game. Pretty incredible.
-
Stunning incompetence, first from Hahn to have Danish on the roster and second from Robin to put him in a tight game (for the third consecutive day). That inning was so obviously going to happen the way it did that it's absolutely ridiculous.
-
WHY IS HE STILL OUT THERE THIS IS INSANE
-
Stunning. A comeback win here would be as big as a single win can be in a 162-game season, and as soon as we get within 1 we decide to throw it away. There's roughly 15 pitchers in the Sox org who could be in this spot right now ahead of Danish. Unbelievable.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) Pretty unbelievable he's pitching in a tight MLB game. Also, this exact same thing about Tyler Danish.
-
Parnell's K% (left) and BB% (right) between the minors and majors last 2 years: Pretty unbelievable he's pitching in a tight MLB game.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Just keep taking. This guy's BB% is horrific. TODD PLS

Not quite sure how Danish is in the majors or, if he is, in anything but long relief in a blowout. There's way better candidates.
