I think when we drafted him, most experts thought it was a bit of a reach, sicne they thought he wasn't that quick, he didn't have a plus arm in the outfield, and he didn't have much pop. I think the Sox liked him cos he was a Dirtbag from their system, and boy did he ever prove them (Experts) wrong. It's amazing to see how this guy just keeps gettin better and better even when he get's promoted. I think Jeremy Reed is truly a special kid and hopefully he doesn't pull a Borchard on us and just stop at AAA level. I don't think he will, he's just too damn good.

With that fastball and knuckle curveball that I think he's got, he should join a nice rotation by 2005. If we don't resign Colon, then maybe give him a look at the 5th starters job depending on how he progresses but I still think he's needs another year at AAA level. Who knows, he might do a Rich Harden and force KW and Manuel to promote him.
-
He just doesn't have the arm or consistency to play well at a Big League Level everyday.

The improtant thing for Neal will be to have a good start. If he can through the 1st 2 innings without giving up a run, he might do alright. It will settle his nerves a little, but if he starts walking them like in Anaheim, get him outta there. Those Yanks will certainly work the count, and I think his pitch count will prob. be quite high, so might be pulled by the 6th.

Unless Billy has at least a 95MPH fastball when and IF he comes back, he should be rested for the rest of the season. We cannot afford to have a guy who has to throw breaking balls just because he lost some velocity on his No. 1 pitch. He's just too much of a Liability in my opinion.

I guess we're all so passionate about this ballclub and how much it would mean to the city of Chicago if we finally won a World Series. Early on, I must admit I doubted if we were gonna finish about .500 let alone win the division. We were calling for KW's head to be put on the chopping block and for Jerry "I don't know how to manage a team and bullpen" Manuel. Paulie was hitting so bad, and even Mags didn't have the best of starts. But once this team gets going, we can beat ANYONE. We're a streaky team and not very consistent. We can win 6 straight (home to Texas and Anaheim) and lose 6 straight (at Anaheim and Texas). I still don't think Manuel is the best manager for this club, but if the players showed some more heart and hustle early, we could easily be 10 games up. Any thoughts?

I was screaming for Carlos during the ENTIRE game...Just ask Steff!!! He even waved at me a few times. So that's why he's been playing so good this year, hehe. U must be his good luck charm.

I assume this is Ryan Sweeney we're talkin bout. We were lucky to get him, he should have gone in the 1st round. Anyone think he'll possible end up being better than Brian Anderson our 1st round pick? We sure have some great outfiled prospects in the minors, with Reed, Anderson, Sweeney and maybe Borchard but I guess you can't really call him a prospect now.

Any1 else think that this series against the yankees could possibly make or break our season. I mean if we win 3-0 i think it shows we're the team to beat and we can beat the best, but if we lose 3-0 we lose the division lead to KC or Minny most likely and the guys would prob start 2nd guessin themselves if, 1) Can they win on the road 2) Can they beat the big teams away from home Definitely this is a Statement Series for the Sox although I think we did pretty good at the Bronx last year.
-
I just hope it doesn't shatter his confidence if he gets rocked early. But there's no better place to prove urself than at Yankee Stadium so it's a good test to have early in his career.

If we do call up 2 pitchers for the pitchers for the stretch run, any thoughts on who'd they be. I suppose Koch has to come back and they'd prob want another long reliever like Adkins.
-
Yeah I'm gonna use CBS Sportsline from now on as evidenced by my slow play by play today from the ESPN 1. I mean when Carlos hit that 3 run shot in the 7th, Tony G was still batting in my Gamecast.
-
Carlos has been our most consistent player all year and our First Half MVP. Without his production when our bats were struggling we probably still wouldn't be in this race.
-
I think of our schedule and think of the saying, "To be the best u have to beat the best". No doubt our schedule is harder than the other teams, but even if we make the playoffs we'll have to play the hard teams anyway.
-
Since Hummel is now probably leaving to Cincinatti, our infield depth in the minors is probably the weakest part of our farm system now. Alomar even if he is resigned probably only has a year or 2 left in him, while Jose might not even be coming back if we can't re-work his deal. I think we need to draft a SS or 2B with out 1st pick in next year's draft, like Toronto did this year. Any thoughts?

It's on ESPN.com under MLB/Scores but u can't actually watch the game, they tell u what's happening like Play by Play though it's a bit slow. It's has links to the radio station broadcasting the game though.

YES!!!!! What a great night for the White Sox all round. Great hitting, great ptiching from Buerhle, and the Twins lose with a DP.
-
That ain't good, We don't need the stupid Twins to spoil our great win tonight with a late inning comeback :finger

And that's 6 in a row, ANOTHER WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

Man 17 pitches is heaps for one at bat, i wonder what the record for the most pitches in one at bat is?
-
No he's not hurt, I think we're saving him for the last game of the Yankee series.
-
Kansas City still up 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th

Sorry bout the slow play - by play, but I'm only seeing the game on ESPN Gamecast, which is how I see most of the White Sox games anyways.
