  1. Damn I hope he wasn't swinging at another curveball in the dirt.
  2. Yeah I think JM erred by putting in Harris instead of Rowand for Everett. By the looks of it on ESPN when I was watching the game, it didn't really look like that Rowand was running flat out, and I think if he did, he just might have scored. But it's not his fault, he's only doing what the 3rd base coach telled him to do. Hopefully we don't get any more JM blunders on the way home, it's hard enough to beat two other teams to win a division title and even harder when ur stupid manager makes some absolutely clueless decisions.

    7-0

I would take if 4-3 IF This Scenario played out. 1) We lose this whole series to the Tribe, but we sweep the Minny Series. 2) Because we sweep the Minny Series, we have the divison lead depending on whether or not da Twins and Royals won or lost how many games in the upcoming 7 games. I mean it'll be nice to have some momentum coming into the Minny Series, and that 1 is the big 1 for us this eason. If we lose, I think u could we're done, so it's absolutely crucial we come out on top. And by the way, where are the Twins and Royals smilies, like the cubs 1 we have. C'mon some1's gotta get one of those.
  4. Hmm that stat alone could cost Minny a playoff spot, because they really should off put those teams away like they have with the Tiggers this yet. And it is just me, or is Shannon Stewart becoming THE GUY in Minny. If we don't make it and they do, I think we can blame him because he seems to be gettin all da big hits for them lately.
  5. My best friend is a Cards Supporter and it's killing him to c how bad da team's going at the moment, even if they have Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen. It really killed them when Morris went down, and their pitching is one of the weakest in the league at the moment, after Williams. I keep ribbing him about how the Cubs somehow managed to beat them with late inning comebacks, and he came back with "OH yeah, well we've got the better Chicago team in our division." Ugh. :fthecubs
  6. Well it's good to see the Royals lost again, I think they've lost sumthin like 5 straight now. They aren't that good outside their division, and I think their bubble might have finally burst now, although that stupid KC writer will probably say that they'll hav a winning streak and a division title in his next article.
  7. If we don't make the playoffs because of this, Manuel's gotta be canned. He keeps making these little blunders and errors and the game against Boston was a perfect example of it. Leaving Sullivan in against Ortiz, not giving Rowand a friggin chance instead of Harris, deciding to finally come out and argue when Tony G goes to the dugout. One thing I think should be done though if Everett keeps struggling, give Rowand a chance, I think he deserves it.
  8. HMMM A reason to believe? Well I just finished watching the tape of Today's Game and here's a few of my points. 1) Carl Everett is struggling to put it lightly. I think he's in a 6 for 34 slump, but he showed some signs od breaking out of it, especially at his 1st 2 at bats. I don't think he can get much worse and he'll only help our offence. 2) Smallball. This team is actually finding other ways to score other than just smashing homers all the time (Sorry Frank, lol). Nice to see both the Alomar's get on by using bunts, something that wouldn't of happened at the start of the year when we were struggling. 3) Mark Buerhle. 1st Inning didn't look promising. But once he gets into a rhythm and pitches quickly, this guy is one hell of a pitcher. Got out of a few jams today, and was hitting his corners pretty good. Needs to get more K's though to take that next step into a really dominant pitcher. 4) Umpiring. Surely we can't get umpiring standards this bad on the way home. That 3-2 ball to Manny, that was WAY more of a strike than the one to Tony G. Unfortunately I think reputation counts more to that stupid home plate umpire than the actual pitch location. 5) Luck. Let's hope we actually get some of the way home and none of it those to those stupid Twins like today. I mean Bengie Molina had more time than Varitek did against Rowand today to size up Dustan Mohr and tag him, and what happens, he breaks his wrist. I think it's about time the balls bounced our way, not theirs. Hopefully we win the next 2 aginst the indians and retake the lead. We all certainly hope so.
  9. Let's hope Kim has another Post Season style meltdown in the bottom of the 9th. I think Maggs can get the job done if we gets runners on.
  10. Kevin Appier won 1 game shutting out the Yanks. Hmmm.. if the Royals win the AL Central by a game he'll be worth it.
  11. I'll be watching the game tomorrow morning on ESPN from 9 a.m my time. If any of u guys r goin in the crowd do a mexican wave chant or bring a soxtalk.com poster so we can recognise ya, lol. Hopefully u guys can carry Buerhle and the team over the top of Boston.
  12. I certainly hope so, but Robbie can prob. teach him if he can't. I heard he reminds a lot of ppl of David Eckstein so hopefully he can a lot of Heart and Hustle while he's up here. I'll tell u what though, he'll be determine to do well after 9 years in the minors i think.
  13. Congrats Paulie!!! Gees he must hav not grounded into a double play all week, lol. Seriously though it's great to hav the old Paulie back and he's been a key part in our resurgance in the second half.
  14. Great that's just what we needed. We need to win this game if the other 2 teams win so we don't lose any ground. Burkett's lookin shaky though, I think we can put up a big score tonight if we can get his pitch count pretty high.
  15. Hmmm... 1 run is better than 0 though. We probably should have done better with bases loaded and only 1 out. By the way saw that Miles and Rios r back up with the big team. Don't know about Rios, but good to see Miles up here and maybe we can finally get a look at him, and see if he's a David Eckstein type.
  16. Hmmm Colon vs Burkett tonight. Burkett's ERA ain't too flash, let's hope Bartolo can pitch well again in a big game and our bats can light up Burkett.
  17. Mark Prior is carring that team right now, but Shawn Estes and the whole Cubs bullpen mainly Alphonseca r gonna blow their wild card chances.
  18. Yeah no wonder Scott Rolen wanted to get outta there fast with that big fat yak as a manager. I mean come on, u don't cut a useful utility guy just because they're exchanging barbs through the media. If Philly doesn't make the playoffs, he should be canned, plain and simple. Burrell's still struggling and I think Philly fans have a right to see their team doing better. Even Jerry Manuel wouldn't sink as low as Larry Bowa just did. "He's a loser. I had 15 guys doing backflips when we let him go." Yeah right, and I bet the whole team will be doing backflips when he gets canned.
  19. Yeah this is a perfect time to be playing them I think if Manny misses the series. Their new faces have struggle mightily in the Bullpen, looks like they can't handle the pressure, and the Boston Ship may be starting to sink once again. Really looking to seeing Lowe vs Buerhle on ESPN down here in Australia on Wednesday Night (Thursday daytime for me).
  20. By the way Mr. Showtime, what program or site did u use to make that cool sig with the pic of Sweeney, Jones and Maggs in it, cos it looks SWEET.
  21. I was just reading the Sporting News Baseball Inside Dish and here's part of it. New Royals OF Rondell White is 13-for-26 with two career homers at Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field. The Royals and White Sox face each other seven times in the final 10 games, starting with three in Chicago. The Twins play seven of their final 10 against the Tigers. Hmmm. I hope White doesn't light us up at U.S Cell, that's the last thing we need.
  22. Is that Jeff Liefer pinch hitting for the other team? Man did Montreal lose the Colon trade or what. Nice to see Koch actually threw an inning without giving up a hit, walk or a run. Ross Gload's still hitting good at minor league level, if Daubach wasn't here, he'd probably get called up in September. Maybe a team like L.A or Arizona could use him? Is Borchard looking any better at Charlotte and does he have any hope of a September callup?
  23. I think 90 wins will be enough to win this division. I suddenly think that Minnesota's starting rotation is starting to become a real big worry for them again. Radke's gettin lit up and they depend too much on Rogers and Santana. The Royals even though they get many timely hits with runners in scoring position just aren't good enough with the pitching either. Brian Anderson and Kevin Appier just ain't gonna cut in September and in the postseason for that matter. This series with Boston is gonna be pretty big. If we can sweep it, it'll just increase the gap between us and the other 2 just a little bit more and it'll make that much harder for them to catch us. I actually think Jon Garland is a key. If he can pick 3 wins on the way home, I'll think we'll win the division cos thet big 3 should win enough games as well. If Garland struggles we could be int rouble without a reliable 5th starter. He needs to pitch the way he did in Detroit for the rest of the season. I wonder what the Twins and Royals would give up for Cy Loaiza right now?
  24. Man I can't believe we're fourth. Remember when Maggs said we stink and we down to about 25th on the Power Alley but boy have things changed. That's what u get when u win a series at the Bronx. Let's hope we can keep the lead the rest of the way.
  25. Man didn't Radke get hammered today, if Santana is injured, their rotation could become a liability down the stretch if they can't get it together. With the White Sox winning, the Royals losing game 1 and the Twins losing this 1, it's been a very good day so far.
