    Baltimore

Headed there on Saturday for the day to check it out. What are the best things to do around town (besides obviously check out the Baseball Stadium if I get a chance)?
  2. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) I just read on ESPN that it was 9 mil, not 680,000 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3953647 . I'm pretty sure it's the lower cap figure, otherwise the Boys would of hung onto TO most likely, but otherwise they wouldn't be able to re-sign DeMarcus Ware (who's probably going to get as large of a contract as Albert Haynesworth). I like the move. For whatever reason, Garrett and TO couldn't co-exist at the end of last season. And TO demanded the ball, and the Boys would giv it to him in situations where it wasn't warranted. I hope we move to a more run heavy offense, with Roy Williams taking over TO's role, Austin as the #2 WR as the deep threat, and Crayton going across the middle. It shows that Garrett won the power battle though, and is still pobably going to be the next head coach of the Cowboys. And MHizzle, I blame our O-Line woes on Corey Proctor playing so many game, and Flozell Adams being injured for the majority of the season, the left side of our O-Line was just decimated.
  3. Nothing on Rotoworld ATM saying the Hawks picked up anyone. The Rangers got Derek Morris and Nic Antropov, while the Flames got Olli Jokinen from the Coyotes for Lombardi plus a pick and a prospect.
  4. Any word on what we gave up? Picks I'm presuming.

    IT'S A BOY!!!!

Your boy has exactly the same first two names as me (so you've chosen well). Congrats!!!
  6. I hope it's an open competition, but right now it seems Getz's job to lose. Lillibridge should be the utility man because of his versatility, while Nix will probably start the year in AAA and put up some pretty good numbers I would imagine. He seems like one of those AAAA players to me.
  7. Got this e-mail today for a Superman White Sox t-shirt; http://www.tattooedtees.com/index.php?page...rt&Itemid=1
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) The Bears have had immense trouble with both actually. Well that's Jerry Angelo's fault more than anything. Just look at all of the good RB's who are playing today that you can get after the 1st round. Marion Barber Steve Slaton Pierre Thomas Frank Gore And the list goes on. Angelo just wasted his picks on Benson and Garett Wolfe.
  9. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Really? I'm by no means an Orton supporter, but I'd rather have Kyle than Sage Rosenfels. You're definitely right about Orton though definitely has a lot to prove. He's not going to be an above average QB unless he improves the accuracy on his throws and gets a better feel for moving around in the pocket (which ultimately led to the undoing of my beloved). Orton 4 years younger -- had no receivers -- didn't throw many picks last year (12 in 465 attempts). Rosenfels is 30, he did throw with 66% accuracy, but also threw ten picks in 142 attempts. You can't ignore the fact that Rosenfels had Slaton, the best receiver in the league, and a secondary receiver better than any of our receivers. I'd rather have Sage Rosenfels than Tavaris Jackson, but only as a short term option. If Denver had to choose between Rosenfels and Orton... I would be a little shocked if they chose Rosenfels. Well I base it on this; 1 - Orton's mechanics apparently went out of whack in the 2nd half of the season after he came back from his knee injury. He was a completely different QB to the 1st half of the season (67.2 QB rating in the 2nd half of the season). Needs to show that he's recovered from that. 2 - In really bad weather (temp's under 40F), Orton had a QB rating of around 62. And once again that could be from #1, but he needs to show he can pass in cold weather. There's no doubt that Rosenfals is more of a Brett Favre / Tony Romo type of QB compared to Orton. But if he can cut down on the TO's, he's certainly shown he can move the ball effectively on offense. He also has a 90.6 QB rating on games indoors, which indicates that he should be a good fit for the Vikings. I see the Vikings as a 12 game winning team next season, and a serious contender for the superbowl.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) I wouldnt. He's already one of the best young RB's in the league and is a complete player from a blocking, catching and running standpoint. I'd really rather have Forte than Cutler. I think Forte is a stud and a star in the making. I'd be worried that the Bears need to reduce his carries this season (and find another RB), otherwise he could burn out very early in his career. I have the same worries about my favorite NFL player Marion "The Barbarian" FWIW.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 08:42 AM) Here we go again with my hatred of a "franchise, f***ing stud QB" but Forte had a great season this past year. Granted, he was given tons of touches, but that isn't his problem. He racked up 1230+ rushing yards and about 20 yards under 500 on the receiving end. I believe he finished with 11 TD's, too. All this was behind an absolutely pitiful OL. His season last year was better then any of Cutler's so far. If we did trade Forte for Cutler, it would have to be straight up. To give them Forte + a 2nd or a 3rd would be an awful move for the organization. All I'll say to this is how much easier is it to find a good RB (especially in the draft) compared to a good QB?
  12. Ottawa have been desperate for a good young goalie for a long time (one that's actually normal unlike Ray Emery). Leclaire is injury prone though. I think Columbus have done pretty well there.
  13. Shaq flopped against Howard last nite. Quite sad that Shaq had to resort to all of this trash talk about Howard before last night's game also, talking about how many championships he's won etc. Of course that's going to be the case Shaq, Dwight's only 23 and you're 37.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 01:04 AM) The goal is to win the Stanley Cup, not be better than they were last season. If his contract ultimately gets in the way of that goal, which it certainly looks like it will, then the signing was awful. Our window isn't this year and this year only. Let's also not give Campbell 100% of the credit for the PP being better. That's way too lazy of a correlation. Today's did you know: In 13 less games, Barker has 3 more power play points. And Kane runs the PP for the most part anyways. I know that's the ultimate goal, but you can't just jump from not making the playoffs 1 season to suddenly winning it the next, without makin some major signings. The Hawks aren't going to win the cup this year IMO, but they'll have an excellent opportunity next season if they can re-sign Havlat for a deal round $4M, dump Sopel's contract, and upgrade at the 2nd line C and RW from losing Khabibulin's contract. Who knows if the Hawks would have signed Campbell had they known that Quenneville was definitely going to be their coach. I don't think either of those 2 had a falling out before, so for whatever reason they just haven't gotten along. My guess is the Thrashers would probably trade for him to show Kovalchuk that they're serious about winning, if the Hawks really wanted to deal him.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) Blue Jackets got him. Damn ! For who? Pascal Leclaire has been mentioned.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Leinart struggled with out routes at the combine, his arm isn't very strong But you'd probably say that about a guy like Matt Cassell also, and he showed that in the right system and scheme, he can still be successful. I think for example Leinart would do well in a West Coast style of offense for instance. If the Rams cut Bulger, Leinart would be a decent target for em possibly.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) I've been saying that Leinart won't be a good NFL QB since before he was drafted. He's a pretty boy, nothing more. He never got touched in college, and that made me believe he'd be a piece of glass in the NFL. I still stand by that. I think Whisenhunt went with obviously the guy who gave them the best chance to win from the get go. I think Leinart can still be a sucessful QB if he gets his chance with the Cards, but if they're gonna re-sign Warner, he's prob gonna try and ask out. And considering the Cards would probably save some cap room to re-sign all of their other FA's, it's something they should definitely consider.
  18. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) Well I was comparing the Vikes and Bears, I think that Denver would rather have Orton than Rosenfels... but of course they probably dont want either of them. If the Vikes get Cutler, its not going to be a fun ten years. I wouldn't exactly agree 100% with that. Orton still has a lot to prove this season IMO. And Rosenfals has looked pretty good over the past couple of seasons when he's had a chance to play.
  19. Well they may have been busy today anyways;
  20. I think this'll be better to ask if the Oklahoma City Thunder end up with the #1 choice so that they can draft Blake Griffin.
  21. Everyone knew that the Hawks overpaid for Campbell no doubt. But don't forget how bad our PP has been over the past few seasons. That's the major reason why Campbell was signed. And yeah when it comes to re-signing Keith, Kane and Toews, that contract is going to come back and bite us in the ass. But Campbell wasn't signed for that reason. He was signed for this team to be better than they were last season, and obviously that goal has been achieved.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Considering how much he gets slammed on this board, the new Contreras love is interesting. That'll go down south if he doesn't pitch well from the get go. I still think the Sox should be cautious with him, and give the 5th starter's job to Richard or Marquez for a month, but I doubt that's going to happen.
  23. So Matthew Fox isn't a very good actor then?
  24. Gotta be Ben. Best character on television IMO.
