Scotty Downs wouldn't be a bad target. Would allow for the Sox to start Poreda in AAA also.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) What has Cutler ever done? The most I'd give up for him is a 2nd this year and a 3rd or 4th next year. He had 25 TD's and 20 turnovers (18 INT, 2 fumbles lost) this past year, and in Chicago he wouldn't have Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall. That's crazy. Cutler is easiy better than Orton for starters. He would also be the Bears QB for 10 seasons, giving them stability at the QB spot that they haven't had for ages. If the Bears have a chance to get him, they should do everything possible to do so. -
Rightio. Too much Beer Pong last night, 12 inches of snow, equals waking up 1 hour after i am meant to start work, and a f***in twisted ankle or foot, i dunno but my foot kills, and i had to hobble to the train station this morning on 1 leg. I hate the f***in snow.

Luke McGown. Was re-signed to a 2 year 7.5M deal this off-season, will be given a chance to start. A lot of people think he's comparable to Rob Johnson though. -

2nd in 09 and a 5th in 2010 is what I've heard. I think Tampa knows the new QB will need all the weapons he can get next season. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) The Vikings actually have a semi-competent QB now. They are the clear cut favorites at this point in time in my mind. The Packers should also be better than 0-7 in close games again this season. Exactly. They stop the run better than anyone else in the NFL, have the NFL's best running back, and now with Rosenfels, have a decent enough QB. The only thing that stops the Vikings from being an elite team IMO is Brad Childress. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Hasn't Marbury basically f***ed up the chemistry of every team he's ever been on? Yep. If he does it again, they'll kick him off, but I hope it would at least disrupt their rhythm as a Magic fan.

I believe the Bears signed an OT from the Panthers also on a 4 year deal. -

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) On a side note, how much money has DeAngelo Hall pillaged in the last three seasons. Holy cow, 54 million? Yeah, complete madness. They're going to cut Springs or trade Carlos Rogers also. If I'm a trade looking for a CB (the Lions), I try to trade for Rogers. He was argubly Washington's best CB last season before they brought in Hall. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) IMO it depends a lot on whether or not he takes good minutes away from Rondo. A-la Cassel last year. He shouldn't. At points, Rondo has carried that team this season. Marbury shouldn't get more than 10 mins a game, unless they want to keep Rondo fresh down the stretch (which wouldn't be a bad idea actually).

Reading things like that made me sick to my stomach, even if the people in there may deserve it (but then again some don't). -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 09:50 AM) I thought the cap in the NFL was hard? If not, what does the penalty for going over look like? Losing draft picks I would have thought? -

It's basically a 3 year contract for $41M anyways. I look forward to the Gurode vs. Haynesworth matchups for the next 3 seasons though. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 06:31 AM) It's hard for me to come up with anything less significant than making the playoffs as a 7th or 8th seed in the NBA. And what do people think of the Celtics signing Marbury? I think it's a great move. There's virtually no risk for the Celtics, as they can cut him without it hurting their pockets one bit. I don't see Marbury causing any problems, at least for the rest of this year, as he knows he's playing for his next contract. And the talent has never been a question. It's amazing how the Celtics went from having no bench to arguably the deepest in the league with Marbury, the recently acquired Mikke Moore, House, Allen, Davis and Powe. KG's gotta keep Starbury in line. I think he could do more harm than good though, which as a Magic fan pleases me.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) Teams like the Yankees and the Red Sox can continue to throw money at players even if they make several mistakes. Don't think for a minute after Joe Borchard got the highest signing bonus in history for a while, and he didn't pan out, it didn't weigh heavily on the White Sox scouting department. There are probably 20-25 other teams who would be in the same boat. Its probably why guys like Broadway and McCullough were drafted. Ironic how Shaeffer went ultra conservative probably in an effort to save his job, and that thought pattern actually cost him his job. Exactly. And it definitely shows that Aaron Poreda is the best pitching prospect the Sox have had for quite a while. I wouldn't even consider McCullough a prospect anymore FWIW also. -
QUOTE (YASNY @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) I've believed, and have said so, that Ozzie made BA pay his dues last year. Brian needed to grow up and Ozzie made that happen. I don't think Ozzie has anything against BA. If there's one thing Ozzie wants on his team it's to have a good defense up the middle. BA provides that, no matter if he's a starting CF or a backup 4th OF (which is probably the ideal role for him really).

White Sox vs. Australia on March 6. Who do I root for?

Will be interested to see Van Beschoten's numbers down at Charlotte this season. Would be nice if they could get him to turn his career around.

Let's hope the Yankees pitchers do well this season otherwise we'll get the usual Coop to NY rumors happening again this season.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 12:51 AM) Yeah that trade never made much sense. It was basicly a move just to make a move because Kidd isnt good anymore. My friend who is a big Mavericks fan was super pissed when it happened. It was basically a panic move by Cuban after the Lakers got Gasol and the Suns got O'Neal. If the Nets can get a decent PF in the draft, they'll put up a better challenge for the playoffs next season. Went to the Knicks vs. Magic last night. A few thoughts; Nate Robinson is a dirty little player who makes the most of any contact on the offensive and defensive end. Still with his scoring impact off the bench, he'll get a MLE deal from some team when his contract is up. Larry Hughes was horrible. Didn't make a shot, got booed, and tried to drive on J.J Redick and the ball when out of bounds when he tried to lay it in. The ultimate insult I woul have thought. The Magic were good defensively for 3 quarters and had the game in hand, and then they got lazy. Nate hit a 3 with a minute left from an inbounds pass, and Stan Van Gundy went absolutely nuts at Courtney Lee. SVG is fun to watch. Courtney Lee is a very smooth player, and the Magic really hit on this pick. Can drive to the hole well, plays good D, and can hit the open J. Exactly the type of polayer the Bulls need to draft this off-season if they're going to lose Ben Gordon.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) 4-3, and is every Angels pitcher named Rodriguez? Is that an unofficial rule? If they replace one Rodriguez, you've got to replace him with another perhaps.
