QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) you take that back now Aussie I've already done irreplaceable damage to my liver since I've been here anyways. But once in a while it is nice to wake up on a Saturday Morning and not be severly hungover.

Has anyone actually considered that the Detroit Pistons could miss the playoffs now also? Talk about a fall from grace for that franchise after the AI deal.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Supposedly this was a three way deal involving Portland, and the Bulls got Ike Diogu for Michael Ruffin as well. Diogu's bounced around a lot in the league, but he'll give the Bulls another body in the frontcourt. C - Miller and Noah PF - Thomas and Diogu That's a pretty decent frontcourt rotation.
-
I LOVE this deal for the Bulls. They are basically trading 2 bench players for a SG/SF who can put up 18PPG and provide better defense than Gordon, and a center in Brad Miller who's probably top 10 in his position in the league with a 2010 expiring contract. No excuses for them not to make the playoffs now.

Just saw this;

Edge has better mic skills than Orton. As a wrestler I think both are pretty similar, although I'm worried a HHH/Orton will be a slow snoozefest. I would also love to see Christian interfere in the Cena / Edge match somehow.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) Why in the world would the Clippers want another high priced guard? Because Baron Davis is too much of a ball hog? Honestly I think Davis will be a buy-out candidate for that team soon enough. Gordon will be a damn good SG, Thornton's decent at SF (albeit he could play better defense and not shhot so much), and Zach and Camby give you a pretty good C/PF combo. At least Hinrich will be more of a distributor I guess.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) The latest trade rumor just reported on 670 is Hinrich for Chris Kaman. That works for me. Mike Dunleavy's not a very good GM if he does that straight up (well he's not ATM anyways). If I'm the Bulls I jump all over that offer though. Kaman gives them the low post scoring they desperately need.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) dont you think that Nocioni has some value to a playoff team? I mean I can see why the t-wolves wouldn't want him, because hes not really a starter or a building block for the future, but a team like (hypothetically) Houston, Atlanta, Portland, Utah, could have interest in Noce and see him in the James Posey, Robert Horry role off the bench. Noce can hit a shot, take a charge, and play d... and his contract isn't that unreasonable. I dunno, just a thought Houston - They have Artest and Battier already at the SF spot. They'd probably offer Head + pick or something like that. Atlanta - They'd be after a big more I'd think. Portland - Travis Outlaw >>> Nocioni. Utah - Maybe, but they have C.J Miles and Andrei Kirilenko already. I just don't think Nocioni is that good to be honest. He's got a reputation around the league for being a dirty player and a flopper which doesn't exactly help matters. And every team is desperately trying to cut costs right now (the Chandler deal for example). If the Kings could get an expiring contract for John Salmons for instance, they'd probably pull the trigger.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Offseason Thread

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) Dre played well for the Broncos, he had 113 tackles, 7 INT's, and a sack in his two season stint. He was the 4th Broncos starter cut this offseason because he was due to count 6.8M against the cap next year. Dre Bly led the team in INT's with 2 and was the team's 4th leading tackler, which is sad. Dre will be a very solid pick-up for some team, maybe even the Broncos again at a reduced rate. He's not as good as he was though. Denver's saved $30M with all of their cuts so far. Something tells me that they're going to make a big run at Haynesworth in FA (cutting Robertson would also help them save more $$$ I believe). -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Given the salary issues and Chandler's continuing injury problems, I'd rather have Noah. At least they're trying to move the 2 right guys. I just hope Pax doesn't hold out for too much for them and takes cap space if it's offered. Hinrich I think the Bulls would be able to trade if they want. He'd be exactly what the T-Wolves need (if they have the right expiring contracts to give up), so then they could concentrate on getting a good swingman in the draft. Like that little piece said though, I think the Bulls are stuck with Nocioni unless they want to take a bad contract back in return.

Contreras as the 5th starter. Richard as the long-man out of the pen (essentailly replacing Carrasco's role). Poreda as the 2nd lefty out of the pen. Marquez to start the season in AAA. Best scenario is the above I would say. Unless Jose is completely 100% though, let Marquez start the season as the 5th starter, and then let Contreras take over when he is healthy.

QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 02:35 AM) Dwight Howard 49 points 18 boards 8 blocks... with bosh n amare on the market maybe orlando is looking to trade him too... LOL Decent enough night from him wasn't it. Still don't like the way we're playing without Jameer ATM though.
-
So long as he keeps doing what he's doing, and doesn't let this affect him, I could care less what Bobby did with the Angels back in his time there.
-
The school bus still needs to arrive to pick up Jason this year ok?
-
If the Thunder drafted a SF/PF and was able to sign Gordon, I'd call them a playoff team for next season.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) not necessarily, sacramento and washington both have worse records right now.... They should go after that SG from Arizona State (his name escapes me, Harden?). Durant and Green are the perfect F's for them right now.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) a .782 OPS IS falling off, seeing as how it's 60 points less than his career OPS right now (which means it was probably more going into last season) and Pierzynski has only ever been an OK hitter, but decent for a catcher. I would say that AJ is probably pretty close to becoming a platoon catcher. So yeah, it's pretty believable. I'd be surprised if Konerko's puts up that OPS again though, but that would be based on him being completely healthy throughout the season, which I doubt he can do. Still I think he'll get over an .800OPS especially considering he was our best hitter in the 2nd half of last sason argubly.

QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) Chandler probably going to the Thunder deal is close to done. There goes Chandlers career. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3913301 I actually think the Thunder could be a .500 team next season. PG - Westbrook SG - ? SF - Durant PF - Green C - Chandler Bench; Watson Kristic Mason Weaver And they'll probably have a top 5 pick to use also.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) So I'm pretty sure I've made more enemies in this last week than I have the rest of my life combined. I'm on quite a roll On a totally unrelated note, I'm going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans this weekend. I think I'm going to have a good time. Had a few mates who went down there this weekend. One of them flashed his "willy" in a bar and proceeded to get thrown out by the biggest bouncer he's ever seen in his life.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) I'll bet you that, whether I like it or not, if we could have done Gooden + Thomas + filler for Amare, the Bulls would have made the deal. Every report we're hearing this morning says it was the Suns who weren't happy with the offers they got. Either they wanted bigger talent than they were offered or they wanted more cap space. That means that for the Bulls it might have been Thomas + Noah + Thabo + Gooden, clearing out the whole frontcourt, or perhaps that might not have been enough to tempt the Suns either, if they wanted a bigger expiring deal than we had. I think it's likely that the big packages (Aldridge + Cap space, or Conley+Gay+Warrick from the Grizz) were out there because that's the kind of pay the Suns wanted for him. They wanted the other team to meet a price that would be silly for the other team to meet. I think that's the thing, they want a bigger expiring deal then what the Bulls were willing to offer. That's why I think Portland has the best chance of anybody of getting him if they want, but they'll probably end up trading LaFrentz's deal for John Salmons I would say.
-
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) i'm sure pax would gladly rid himself of Tyrus, Gooden et. al. the problem is, why the f*** would the Suns trade Amare for a trade centering around Tyrus? Tyrus is not good. He's not. Amare is good, he is. we're stuck with a bunch of s*** that nobody wants. Well here's the thing. Robert Sarver's desperate to cut costs here. He's losing money in Phoenix. If he could get expiring contracts and Tyrus Thomas for Amare, I think he would consider it. The Suns firing Porter and hiring Gentry I think makes it more likely that they hang onto Amare now though. If anything, they'd probably trade Shaq now if they could (which shows how screwed up that franchise is ATM).
