QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) That is flat out stupid. When you know Howard's most likely going to be gone, why the hell sign his buddy, who IMO, is far worse than Bass? Glen Davis is terrible. Bass and Davis is pretty much a wash, Davis is probably a little better defensively because of his bulk, while Bass probably has the better mid-range jumper. But paying $6.5M annually for Big Baby is a waste IMO. A guy who shoots 44% at the PF position isn't really going to be a huge asset unless that improves. EDIT: And we got Von Wafer also. Well Dwight will definitely be staying now!

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) I'd imagine they'd want to keep Jameer so they have someone that can distribute the ball. Atlanta would probably be more interested in him than Golden State (Curry). The Warriors could also sign Richardson out-right if they want him. Also, wouldn't they still be over the cap? That'd mean they wouldn't get a shot at Billups until after he clears waivers. I'd say it's a longshot given Smith's recent history with deals and their relative lack of assets. He could really use Gortat right about now, though he wouldn't have had that opportunity in Orlando. Golden State's pretty desperate for a bearable center also. Maybe they could swing Nelson off in a seperate deal? To me, it doesn't make much sense for GS to sign Richardson, while they still have Curry and Ellis, they'd need to deal at least one of them. The Magic also have a 6.3M trade exception they can use from the Gortat to PHX deal.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) I would love to know how they're going to pull that off when Dwight is their only asset of significant interest (don't tell me Ryan Anderson, just no). My guess would be for Ellis, something around Jason Richardson plus the Magic offering a couple of other pieces in a sign and trade deal (whether that's actually possible, I'm not sure, but it's the only thing I can think of cap wise). I could also see them trading Jameer Nelson, but they'd have to get a PG back in a deal (maybe they go after Billups, but he's more likely to sign in Miami I would have thought).

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) ...and he'll still leave #lebron Unlike Lebron, Dwight actually has some class on that regard. He actually wants to stay in Orlando, but only if they'll surround him with the right talent to win a championship, which they haven't done so obviously. And because of the cap issues, it's not likely they'll be able get him that other star player.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) Thaddeus Young 5 for 42 to sixers. I think that's fair'nuff. Wished we tried to go after him on that deal except for signing Big Baby @ 26/4 in a S&T deal with Brandon Bass. But apparently Davis was one of the guys Howard demanded Otis Smith sign this off-season to have any chance of keeping him, so that's what they've done. Before you know it, Monta Ellis or Josh Smith will be on our roster just to appease Dwight also.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) I'd be very surprised if Gordon is included, though some of those other pieces are nice (especially that Minny pick in what should be a loaded draft). I don't think we'll be ready to talk trade unless Gordon is a part of it. Just don't think Howard would choose the Clippers if he got to FA. I saw one proposal going like this;

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 03:19 AM) I guess I'll post it before someone else does: Noah, Charlotte's pick, another first rounder and whatever salary filler is needed. I think they'd probably demand adding a Deng/Turkoglu swap until they get desperate unfortunately. Best offer I've seen mooted so far is the Clippers offering Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman + MIN's unprotected 2012 1st rounder. Don't think the Bulls could beat that, even with including Noah. EDIT: And I've also seen the names of DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe mooted.
-
So a couple of little pieces I found from various sources from Yahoo/ESPN/Hoopsworld etc. 1 - NJ have apparently offered Brook Lopez + 2 1st rounders for Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu. If Orlando then amnesty waived Gilbert, they'd have more than $30M to spend in cap room. But there's no way Otis Smith trades Howard this off-season. 2 - Boston is looking into CP3, and trying to get a 3 team deal going with Indiana (with Rondo going to NO or IND).
-
FYI, I'd also keep a very close eye on Brandon Roy. I know Orlando has been rumored to be interested in him for a long time, and he's a prime candidate to be amnesty waived. Someone the Bulls could look at for the 2 spot if he becomes available (despite all of the injury issues).

Started playing Skyrim this weekend on my PC and put a solid 15-18 hours into it. Already up to a Level 17, and I reckon I'm bout 1/3'rd of the way through the main quest (been doing quite a lot of side missions). Overall my thoughts are pretty damn positive. There have been a couple of noticeable bugs which forced me to download a couple of extra sound files, and the NPC's could have more time put into them, but there is just so, so much to do in this game, I could probably be a whole month minimum trying to finish everything.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) The playoffs were absolutely horrific. Remember, he was injured (but again, we expect this with Boozer). The Bulls, even with the way Taj played last year in spurts, aren't really in a position where they can kick a guy who averaged 18 points and 10 boards over the course of the season on 51% shooting to the curb. Maybe that assbag can even not trip over some luggage, participate in training camp like the rest of the NBA, and get back to the numbers he had the year prior (20/11/56%). Yeah. Can't kick that guy to the curb... even if he was captain frustration last year. How's the Bulls cap situation looking if they did decide to waive him? e.g could they could sign an up and coming PF for the MLE, or go for a cheaper option such as David West?

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 09:17 AM) The majority of the roster was turned over 30 games into the season. Yeah, it was a mess to come into. Says a lot for how bad of a job Otis Smith has done ever since the "Rashard Lewis" off-season really.

Please let there be an amnesty clause (don't think I could take another season of watching Gilbert on a max deal). Fantastic news though, although the proposal still needs to be voted on and accepted. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) I dunno...the Giants have a pretty brutal schedule coming up...obviously playing the Cowboys is a function of that, but I tend to think the Cowboys are in awfully good shape here. True but; 1 - Romo sucks in December. 2 - The G-Men have pretty much owned our asses for the last 2-3 years. 3 - Based on how Philly tore us to shreds a few weeks back, it's a tough matchup for us. I don't think the Cowboys have a chance at going far into the playoffs regardless, but I think they're in awfully good shape for a run next season, with Tyron Smith maturing and the likes of Bruce Carter are worked into the lineup full time on defense, and of course with DeMarco Murray's emergence.
-
Could very easily be 5-6 now, but we're not, and hopefully we can take full advantage going into December. I'd say we'd need to win 2 out of the 3 against the Giants and Eagles to get the wild-card / win the division, whether we actually do that or not is another story.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) I honestly hate playing adventure games with a keyboard...I love having all my buttons at thumbs reach and analog sticks. I'm the complete opposite, I hate using thumbsticks for those type of games, I just feel a whole lot more in control with the mouse. Each to their own I suppose.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) Finished MW3. At least they finished up the story this time. Would Captain Price be the one video game character who has seen the most "friendlies" die around him? Reckon he'd be right up there.
-
Even WWE12 got a 9 from IGN. Very comparable to the old WWF No Mercy game apparently (used to love that on the N64 back in the day).
-
601YDS rushing in 4 games for DeMarco Murray also. I remember when so many so called draft experts were LOL'ing at that pick because of Murray's injury history. Wonder how many rushing yards he'd have to get to beat Cam Newton for ROY though. Probably 2500.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) He opened up 13 for 13 with 3 TD's or something... He's as good as anyone in the league when he's on...unfortunately he's as bad as anyone when he's not... Or when there's not much on the line. 2 games coming up against the Giants will tell the tale for his season pretty much.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Q, you're in college, why the f*** you on soxtalk right now? Andrew, you back in NY yet? Shack...go Andy Dalton! And those are the people on ST right now. May next year. Hitting up Chi-Town for a few days probably also.
-
I'm hoping with Romo actually fully healthy and willing to stay in the pocket now, we'll be much better on offense in the 2nd half of the season. Red Zone production has been a big negative for us this season as Shack has mentioned, hence why Dan Bailey is right up the top of the leaderboard in terms of FG's kicked. Defensively, we're much improved from last season, especially in the secondary, Rob Ryan has been a definite upgrade there. Ware will have a big day tomorrow, considering Buffalo's LG has to play LT also.

I wish they had Blue Moon in Australia, I really miss that beer. Am going to get as much of that as I can drink in my 4 weeks over there next year.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) At least I'm putting Skyrim off until December. I want to pass finals. I suppose that's one of the positives after finishing college / university and working standard 40 hour weeks, you do have time to game in the evenings, but you probably won't finish anything for at least a week or so. Skyrim is meant to have up to 300 hours to play through, that's insane. Saints Row 3 got a 8.5 as well BTW. Quite keen to check that one out as I haven't played the first 2.

50-50 BRI Split, but sounds like the players want less luxury tax restrictions (allowing more player movement), and some other system issues. Frankly right now, I think this is the best offer they're going to get for a while. And the players are probably split whether to accept it or not. You've got your hardliners like KG and Paul Pierce who have earned plenty of cash in their careers saying no, while a lot of the younger players would probably accept (because they need their paychecks ASAP).
