AND THAT"S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!&
Great to see Danksy rebound after his last start. Quentin comes through again. Even though the guy hasn't hit well lately, if he stays in the lineup, he's capable of 100RBI's this season IMHO.

Thome's next ejection may be from 3rd in order
Fields' needs to be playing everyday. His 15K's in 42 AB's down in AAA show that he's still got a lot of issues in terms of plate discipline and catching up to fastballs. And then there's his defense also.

Good to see McCulloch bounce back a bit. Looks as if Carter is carrying on his good form from Great Falls last season and improving on it so far. He struck out 62 in 71IP last season, and now up to 22 from 18IP as Scenario said.

Danny Richar
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 12:14 AM) Richar is currently hurt and unable to play. Discipline and Richar should not be used in the same sentence as he was told to get his visa early but he ignored it and was the only White Sox late to spring training. Most would say its not a big deal, but say it was Uribe who was late. The reaction on this board would have been a lot different. Guys who hit .230 with a .289 OBP shouldn't be given a job. Uribe won his in spring training, and I really doubt he will continue to hit .170. Well hitters who hit .234 with a .284 OBP (in one of the best offensive ballparks in baseball) in their 5th season as a major league starter shouldn't be given a starting job either if you are going to use that argument. Will Uribe hit .170 forever? No of course not. Eventually he'll get hot and go on one of his streaks, he always does. But is that going to be in May, June, July, August etc.? We can't afford to wait if Uribe is still scuffling at the plate. He's gone downhill offensively in basically every season since he's been here, no-one can deny that. Richar to me has the potential for better numbers than Uribe does. We know what Juan Uribe will give you. A .230 AVG with a sub .300 OBP and around 15-20 HR's. Richar however, people were predicting he could have a .750 OPS this season. Marcels were predicting a .260/.330/.440 line with a .260 GPA in 2008. As for his visa issues, he's only got himself to blame, but I know first hand actually how hard it is to get a visa and an appointment to work overseas (which I am going through now myself), so I have a little sympathy for him there. There was some reason IIRC why it was the case, something about late paperwork or something, but Richar still should have been here. I just don't take a lot of stock in ST numbers either. Look at Alexei Ramirez for instance. Looked great in ST, but totally overmatched in his 1st 2 games.

Crucial game against another lefty here. The Sox need to put some offense on the board tonight, and Danksy needs to pitch well. Go Sox!!!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Those numbers are pretty close, yet Uribe, by far the better defensive player, and probably Soxtalk's most hated White Sox, is a worthless piece of crap, but Richar is going to be great. I'm not arguing whether Uribe was bad last year or not, he was, so were a lot of guys. What I'm arguing is that while Richar may have a chance to be good, right now, considering defense, he's not even better than Juan Uribe at his worst. I would argue otherwise. Richar had a RZR of .802 in 2007 compared to Uribe's RZR of .796, which showed that Uribe was sub-par defensively in 2007 (compared to his previous RZR #'s). Right now that number is .905, so Uribe has done a lot better so far at 2B defensively. But the Sox shouldn't hesitate making a change by the end of May if Uribe still has numbers around the .520 OPS mark and hitting below .200 (currently .171). Richar to me at least showed a bit more plate discipline than Uribe, which is what the Sox are really after from their hitters in 2008.

QUOTE (max power @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) GPA lol. You may want to edit that. GPA stands for Gross Production Average. A variation of OPS, but more accurate and easier to interpret. The exact formula is (OBP*1.8+SLG)/4, adjusted for ballpark factor. The scale of GPA is similar to BA: .200 is lousy, .265 is around average and .300 is a star. A simple formula for converting GPA to runs is PA*1.356*(GPA^1.77).

From Peter Vecsey; Carlisle would be my guess for the Bulls, although I think JVG would be a good choice, with Fratello as the wild card.

The Magic plays the Raps in the 1st round. Unfortunately, I think this has upset written all over it. Dwight Howard can't guard Chris Bosh. But if Bosh goes inside if you put Rashard Lewis on him, he's too big. And Jose Calderon is just going to torch Jameer Nelson on the pick and roll with Bosh, I just know it.

Jim Thome was our best hitter last season. Crazy idea to think of getting rid of him just yet.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) What's assinine is you thinking Uribe has nothing to do with the DPs, and thinking substituting anyone for him would get you the same results. Richar got on base at a .289 clip last year. What makes him a lock to do much better? Just gonna throw out some stats; Uribe 2007 - 112 K's in 513 AB's and 34 BB's. Richar 2007 - 33 K's in 187 AB's and 16 BB's. Richar also had the slightly higher SLG % than Uribe (which is meant to be Juan's main strength offensively). Richar had a GPA of .225 compared to Uribe's .220. Richar took 4.0 P/PA compared to Juan's 3.7. Richar had a higher % of line drives and ground balls to Uribe (which to me shows more of a balanced hitter at the plate). Uribe also hit .198 with RISP last season. Richar's # was .250. So that to me shows how bad Juan Uribe was offensively last season, if a rookie in his 1st season can beat him in pretty much all major offensive numbers.

4/14 Gamethread: Sox (7-4) vs. Oakland (8-5); 7:11, CSN
Time to keep the run going. Our hitters need to keep remaining patient, and keep doing what they're doing. Keep taking 2 out of 3.

4/13 Games
I've been more critical of MacDougal than anybody, but the guy has a 3.00 ERA so far, so he deserves to be up still. Massett is needed as the longman, and has only had 1 bad outing out of 3 so far. He's pitched more innings than Buehrle so far and the same as Danks, so it shows how much the Sox need a longman. Realistically, until Mac implodes, Ehren is stuck (and I know that's not right, but it is what it is).

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Best record in the AL so far. Great outing by Javy, that's what we've come to expect from him. He was downright dominant today. Picking up 4 out of 6 at home is a pretty good result. The bats are starting to warm up a bit as well. Let's keep the momentum going.
-
4/13 Games
Until Mac basically forces the Sox to send him down, I can't see Ehren up with the big club. And the bullpen as a whole has been pretty good for us so far, so I can see why they really don't want to make any changes yet or anything.

Surely Quentin's in the lineup as a permanent fixture now. And perfect start with Willis being injured and us getting into that pen nice and early.- Tigers @ White Sox, 7:11pm, April 11th, 2008
Just get to that Tigers bullpen however we can. That means our hitters will need to be very patient in their hitting counts from the get go. Let's keep piling the misery on em. Go Sox!!!- Daughter's New Laptop

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) Yeah, I was there for my first NBA game... I gota say I was disappointed with the Amway Arena. We got their as soon as the gates were open and the floors were already sticky everywhere you'd go. Also, this is a small complaint, but there are no cup holders on the seats (no wonder the floor was sticky, I guess they never mop?). I also don't like how both levels have to jam into one concourse (it was hell walking through there). There are some other things, but I guess I was just expecting a little bit better arena. I guess this is why they are getting a new one though. I did enjoy their fan interactions though, they were pretty enjoyable. One last thought, Dwight is awesome. Yeah that arena's become a bit of a joke really, hence why they're getting a new one as you said. And even J.J Redick got an appearance, so that's saying something of how lopsided the game was. - Tigers @ White Sox, 7:11pm, April 11th, 2008
