  1. Still a win in Philly, is a win in Philly. Just baby steps for the Bears. Cowboys keep on lookin pretty good though. Really should have won by more though.
  2. Votes have now been tallied. Winners to be announced soon.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) I'd say that is has more to do with athleticism and projectibility. You're not going to give big signing bonus to an immobile defender that's already relegated themselves to 1B at age 16. In fact, a majority of the international signings are SS or P. If you can play SS, you can be moved down the defensive spectrum. It's difficult, and extremely rare, to go the opposite direction. Oh yeah I don't disagree with that at all. But I mean those 2 other positions wite talked about 2B and CF, we're not exactly loaded there either. It's why this should only be a start, we need more signings like this. But best case scenario, these guys can stick at SS for the future.
  4. [email protected]? (seriously that's what I thought it said 1st time I looked at it) Just the wonders of e-mail I suppose.
  5. I just saw the 6 min preview of Rock Band on IGN, Wow. That's going to be an ultimate party game when that comes out. They do great work at Harmonix. Also that MLB Power Pros, if that game comes out on the Wii down here (debatable), I'd probably actually go out and buy a Wii just for that game.
  6. Yeah I saw that Sammy had 7 shots on net, so I figured it was probably his best game as a Hawk thus far. Really seems like things are starting to click from an offensive standpoint, and the lines are starting to develop some chemistry. Williams had a 4 point night, excellent game for him.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Dbaho, I don't think it really matters. The bullpen coach's role is just to order hot dogs and pizza and get girls phone numbers, isn't it?? Oh yeah compared to the pitching coach the bullpen coach doesn't mean much at all. But I guess my point is, if he can help out Coop in anyway because he probably would have seen most of those guys pitch well down in Charlotte, then that's a good thing. But hey if Nieves is good at the things you've mentioned, I'm sure our relievers will all be pretty happy (especially Bobby).
  8. Interesting move. Let's certainly hope it's a positive move and he can get through to the likes of MacDougal etc. and build their confidence up. And he'll have experience with more of our guys in the pen, as they've been to Charlotte at 1 point or another, so that's got to be a good thing I suppose.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) And seconds later Keith ties it. Great way to start the 3rd. 7-0 in shots in the opening minute and a half. Certainly seems as if they've come out smokin. What I love, Kane and Toews have 9 shots b/w them. They are putting the puck on net and making stuff happen. Kane has 2 assists also, I know he was the #1 pick and all, but man o man, he's started off his Hawk career superbly thus far.
  10. Ha they actually scored on a PP. Guess I was wrong Tony.
  11. Now what is most interesting to me here, the 3 guys that we have signed, they all are Shortstops. I think KW has seen the lack of talent in the minors at this position, and with these signings, he's trying to do something about it. And if we're going to draft a LOT of pitching in the early rounds, so long as we can sign these type of positional prospects from regions such as Latin America, it's certainly not a bad strategy at all. At least I have more faith in our minor league operations than I have since I've been part of this site for almost 5 years.
  12. Yeah there's no doubt losing Hahn would be a big loss to the franchise. He's the one who does the majority of the contract negotiations, and I think most people would agree he'd done a pretty good job at doing this, from the Buehrle deal to say signing Iguchi to a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd (typical Rick Hahn contract). I will say though, if Antonetti wanted the job, I think it would be his. He's rated very highly at the moment, and he's got a similar sort of background to the likes of Mark Shapiro, Josh Byrnes etc. whose teams were all having success this year.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) I have no idea how much money ARod would bring in just by himself but if JR thinks he's worth whatever he gets then so be it. There's no denying that Alex would help this team big time and if we were able to sign him and still have some payroll flexibility then please please do it. Now honestly, I don't think there is a chance in hell that something like this happens but I'd love for it to. The main issue I think with all of this, if the Sox go out and sign A-Rod to a $25-$30M per season deal this off-season, are the Sox going to be able to fill other needs? Are they going to be able to bring in 2, 3 new guys for the pen? Are we going to be able to upgrade at one of the OF spots? Because as good of a player as A-Rod is, you fill those needs with some good players, and this team can easily make the playoffs next season.
  14. Insane goal from Toews. Hopefully with that moment, things really pick up for the Hawks in Chicago. It's been a pretty good start to the season all things being considered. Good to see they got out to a good start early as well.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) First period goals for Toews, Sharp and Kane. Very nice. Yep, things are looking good, thank god for Jose Theodore. Toews and Kane are going to carry this team this season. Patrick Sharp's having a pretty solid start to the season as well.

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) The best part about this post is that its at 10:23 AM for those living in CST. If only you weren't down under.. Yeah too bad I started about 8 hours after that time down here, would have made for an interesting day at work. I expect some good stuff from you tonight Alex.
  17. Uhhh yeah. Even if A-Rod opts out, I give us .01% of us actually signing him. But yes I would probably pay him over Santana for the injury risk.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) Trading DLS is a no no. I'll hide him in the basement down here if thats what it takes. But yes he is untouchable no doubt.

Dont u hate iut when u are pissed, and u go 2 a club, and u cant here a damn thing chicks a talin to u about. I swear I could have gotten laid tonight if I wasn't deaf/ )And yes i am pissed while i am writing this, WOOOOOOO() aND WITESOXFAN INVEST IN SOME RICE STOCKS OR SOMETHING I DON'T CARE, THATS MY INVESTEMENT ADVICE FOR THE WEEK.
  20. One thing on Wasserman, I hope they don't give him a LOT of innings down there. I compare him a lot to a poor man's Pat Neshek. He got really run down in the 2nd half of the season because he was used so much in the 1st half because he was that effective. If the White Sox can't get some good relievers to help take the pressure of Ehren (if he pitches as well as he did this season) I'm afraid of this scenario taking place again if Guillen uses him a lot as his main 7th/8th inning guy.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) Yes, Girardi was horrible in how he handled their young pitchers. He should be banned from baseball for the crap he pulled. What a piece of s***. I know that a few SP's for the Marlins such as Johnson and Sanchez did suffer injury problems this season. Of course you have to remember with Torre he didn't really handle the main set-up guys in his pen that well either, Scott Proctor for example before he was traded for Betemit.
  22. QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 03:49 AM) Who do you think these arms are? I agree with you that it is a package KW would settle for. I would push the buttons on any teams that have a surplus of what we need. IE Arizona, NYM, Tampa, etc. I'd actually have a look at the D-Backs. They've got young OF's (Gonzalez and Quentin (who I think you could get on the cheap right now)), good young relievers (Pena, Cruz), and some developing arms. Depends on whether they could take on Garland's salary as well I suppose. But the Dodgers are probably the #1 team people would like to trade Garland to if I had to pick a team.
  23. It's still a lot of money, but it's also a pretty decent pay cut, so I can see why with him being fed up with everything and the job scrutiny he had to go through, why he would walk away. Mattingly's the favorite, but I'm thinking they may actually go with Girardi if they want to get younger, because of the job he did with Florida and their young players. As for Torre, do people think that'll be it for him, or if say a job such as the Cardinals opens up, would he be interested in that? And also, would LaRussa be at all a candidate for the Yankees job?
  24. Well under Mazzone the O's didn't exactly have the best ERA as a team, that bullpen didn't have great numbers, but a few guys in Guthrie and Bedard had excellent numbers. Mazzone had a very similar season in 2007 to Coop now that I think about it. We had a few guys in Buehrle and Vazquez who did extremely well, while the rest besides Jenks probably struggled.
