Should of yanked Valverde earlier. Was quite easy to tell he was losing control of his pitches.

I should change my location to "Kangaroos" after that map Tony.

Those walks from Davis were going to come back to haunt him eventually.

Well with Nunez definitely not returning next year now, this one could have some merit. What would the Phillies offer? Probably Burrell as been mentioned, but you gotta consider the salary and everything, and then the Phillies don't have many good prospects at the moment either.

That 2nd inning from Jimenez, WOW. He is flat out going to be a stud if he can stay healthy. Reminds me of Bobby Jenks as a starter.

That Cuban FA is looking better by the day.

I like, I like. These are EXACTLY the type of moves we need to be making down there, so we need to see plenty more of this.

As a Hawks fan, besides the Havlat injury, could things have honestly gone much better in the past month? Rocky's 1st move is certainly a pass in my book.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) I tried to get some Hawks Talk in there, but nothing... Well we'll have to get you on the show then.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 12:47 AM) And somewhere Pratt dies a little bit..... Those were my first thoughts when I saw this subject. Freaky. Big loss for the Braves though.

Happy Birthday guys!!!

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) It's fine to demand Rasmus, it just means no deal will get done. An elite of prospect on a team that still needs bats long-term (no matter what happens with Ankiel) for a league average pitcher in his walk year is going to be a deal breaker. I'd still call Garland better than league average. A bad month after the ASB really cost him a sub 4 ERA this season, and the guy pitches half his games in argubly the worst pitchers park in the MLB today. Perhaps I'm aiming too high, but the Sox are dealing from a position of strength here, and we need to be targeting these type of impact prospects if we want to rebuild quickly into the future (I'm talking like Flash here). The Sox could always include a Ryan Sweeney for example, to give the Cards a possible replacement for Rasmus. I'm not settling for Reyes and Anderson for Garland. I've rather head to the Dodgers and ask for Hu or Furcal in some sort of deal instead, or talk to Seattle and see if they would trade their stud OF prospect (Batemian I think his name, not Adam Jones).

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 01:55 PM) In the minors, they have Colby Rasmus, Jaime Garcia, and Bryan Anderson. Figure Rasmus is offlimits, prolly not the other two. They don't really have any relievers we'd want. They won't trade Wainwright, but you might get Reyes after his awful year. Not much. (All this is just me guessing -- I haven't read/heard anything lately.) If LaRussa and Dave Duncan leave St. Louis as well, they may target more "sure things" in terms of SP, instead of the high risk guys in Kip Wells, Mark Mulder, Brandon Looper etc. I'd target at least 2 out of Reyes, Rasmus and Anderson in a trade for Garland, with Rasmus a must include. Because teams like Seattle will probably offer you a lot of talent for JG this off-season, just remember the Jason Jennings deal for comparisons sake.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) I just downloaded the show about an hour ago, I'll listen on my commute to/from work either tomorrow or Friday. Does that mean I won the D-Bag of the week award? You will next week now.

For those watching, how are the new additions in Samsonov, Lang and Perrault playing tonight?
-
Eggy was unlucky no doubt, he had a fine season. Because he's a sinkerballer though, that will only help him with his chances of becoming a part of the White Sox rotation in the future, with KW really looking for sinkerballers with our ballpark. So he may not have definitive "major league stuff", but when he hits in the majors, if he can keep the ball in the park with a good defense behind him (which is what the Sox have up the middle), I think he has a decent chance of carving out a role at the major league level. Next season at AAA will tell us quite a bit about Jack though.

It was never really the same since Joe Cowley left for the Sun - Times IMHO. But still they had some good stuff, that the main papers don't pick up, and they will be missed.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 10:01 AM) Toews debuts tonight. Koci and Vandermeer sitting with Zyuzin in the lineup. Nice to see Toews back on the ice. We need all of the offense we can get ATM with Havlat out of the lineup.

I was annoyed with Phoenix they didn't go as far north as Peoria / Sunrise. Hopefully they add more streets and places in the future, and different countries as well. It's a pretty cool innovation though.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 6, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) If you're going with the young guys in the rotation, you're probably not going to compete for the pennant. With that in mind, why not try and find a SS that you might be able to have for a few seasons? Maybe a condition for Furcal coming to the Sox in a trade would be to work out an extension for him. Of course I think in a contract year, he'll have a real good year. He was very banged up with injuries IIRC. But your point on acquiring a SS for more than 1 season is well taken. Hence why trading for a young SS such as Chin - Lung Hu if he was available could be a better option.
