Random Garland Trade Idea.
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) someone want to let me know why Baltimore would even consider moving Bedard? How many more years before he hits FA?

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) It sounds like the wackiest goal ever, sitting on Legace's head for a second or two? Can't wait to see it. I think they said he shot it off the backboard, it went on the top of the net, then off Legace, and then back into the net. Sounds like a crazy goal, and the only good thing that happened tonight. The lack of offense without Havlat is a worry as per usual.

D'Backs vs. Rockies NLCS Thread
The main issue for me is whether the young guns of the rotation in Morales and Jimenez can keep pitching the way they have been, and that they don't get a case of "stage fright" pitching in their 1st world series considering both were in the minors this season. I think they'll continue what they've been doing though, and it'll make for a great series, no matter who they're playing. And for the 1st time in a couple of season, I think you feel confident that the Rockies are a team from the National League that deserve to be there, based on their roster and how they've played over the past couple of months.

Random Garland Trade Idea.
If I'm Seattle, there's no way I'd trade Morrow for Garland. Morrow has so much value right now, he's young, he's cheap, and he was flat out dominant in strecthes as a reliever this season, and long - term he projects to be a dominant starter if he can stay healthy. But still as the poster above said, it's Bill Bavasi we're talking about here, and he is known to overpay for "his guy". And remember assistant GM Dan Evans really likes Garland as well. I'd might try to work a 3 team deal with say the Dodgers were we ended up with a SS from them, and then Balentein for Garland?

Losman had a 84.9 QB Rating last season compared to Grossman's 73.9 rating FWIW.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) Why, exactly? We either need the "proven" guy -- McNabb -- or a stopgap while a QB we draft in the near future is developing. I'll admit to knowing very little about Losman, but how is he any different from a guy like Grossman? Wite would know more about him then I do, but IIRC, a lot of people were saying he really came on last season, and he's basically just lost his job because the Bills are rebuilding from scratch and he got injured at the start of the season. And I don't know if Angelo would be iffy in taking a QB high in the draft after the Grossman pick.

I also saw that J.P Losman is no longer the starter in Buffalo. Would he be a guy the Bears would target in the off-season if they couldn't get McNabb?

Video Game Catch-All Thread
Yeah I can't wait to get my hands on The Orange Box. Episode 2 is meant to be better than Episode 1 as well, apparently a lot of things are revealed compared to ep. 1 where you basically just tried to escape the city.

That Rockies lineup is DEEP. The decision by Hurdle to use Smith so early as a pinch hitter is one of the best in the playoffs so far.

Dusty is back
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) Adam Dunn had a real good season last year....I'm still upset we didn't trade Contreras for him two seasons ago. Is that before the 2005 season, or after the World Series?

Stoneman to step down...
Wow, GM's are falling like nine pins lately. Wonder if there was pressure from above from Arte Moreno (and if he'll take a more hands on role), for not landing that big bat and not winning the world series over the past couple of seasons. But say what you will about Stoneman's inability to make a deal, the Angels have been one of the most consistently good teams in baseball over the past decade. I bet a lot of GM's (and potential candidates) would love to have this position.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) This Rockies team is just good. They don't make mistakes, they have a very good bullpen, they don't have an easy out 1-8 and their sp is pretty good too(counting Morales and Jiminez here). This team just isn't hot, they're very, very good. That's the key for mine right there. It seems over the past month, anytime there's a close game, that pen puts them over the top. And really considering Fuentes lost his job as a closer and Corpas had to step up, they've done a HELL of a job.

What are Jason Witten's career numbers compared to Gates FWIW? I think he's a couple of years younger as well.

Dusty is back
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 05:28 AM) Jon Garland for Josh Hamilton and Cueto. Yeah let's hope another team just entered the Garland sweepstakes based on the Baker hiring, because you know how much Dusty loves his veteran arms. And considering he's a sinkerball pitcher, Garland would actually fit well at the GAB.

Pats just too good today. Cowboys have a weakness against the pass in the secondary, with Roy Williams as a safety and no Anthony Henry. We'll have to draft a CB with one of our 1st 2 rounders. As for the Bears, just wow at Peterson's performance and the Bears' inability to stop the run today.

Rowand Wants Big Money
QUOTE(beck72 @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) Michael Bourn of the Phillies? Though he might be too much like Owens for my tastes. If Rowand leaves the Phillies though, I assume they'll want to keep both Victorino and Bourn, although that could also depend if they traded Burrell for a third baseman considering they don't have much in the way of prospects.

Should of yanked Valverde earlier. Was quite easy to tell he was losing control of his pitches.
