  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) You just did. I must say, the Cowboys have been a totally different team with Romo at QB. They might just be the second best (a distant second) in the NFC behind Chicago. I think we could beat the Bears in the playoffs if it came down to our 2 teams. We're one of the better run stuffing teams (Chicago's main attack seems to be to establish the run with Jones) and I think we've got better skill players at the QB and WR position. So long as we can give Romo time to pass, and get a decent pass rush then we usually do pretty well. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) Half of his incompletions were messed up by TO as it was... It's lucky for TO's sake Tony Romo likes him and actually targets him so much.
  2. Romo's lookin good, and so are the Cowboys. Hopefully we can put this one away in the 3rd.
  3. I hate having to front up for work the morning after I've gotten absolutely hammered the night before.
  4. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) And I lose interest in Nitro right after his manager's ring entrance. Until the shrieking wakes you back up again. I'm gonna be interested to see if they get Edge another Valet now, since Lita is leaving after Sunday.
  5. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) I ate whale last weekend. Off to Japan or Norway for you then.
  6. QUOTE(R.Sweeney @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) How about this. If Sox fans had the choice of who was dealt... Which team would you deal with and for what prospects? You'd be hardpressed to find 2 pitching prospects the equal of Hurley and Danks that could actually be had in a trade. That's why I'd be after them, and why I want to deal with the Rangers. My guess is the trade talks broke down because Jon Daniels wanted BA included, and I think Kenny wants to hang onto him, especially after giving away Chris Young.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) Reply #5000. Wow. Who though this would be around still? And it's all mine.
  8. Ned Colletti has shown as well, he's certainly not afraid to trade prospects to upgrade now.
  9. Dye for Furcal and a stud pitching spect? Maybe could include Uribe, or in another deal as well.
  10. Anyone else think that J.D Drew would have been a much better fit for the Cubs for CF, due to the better OBP? Would have been cheaper than Soriano as well.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) So for some reason the song "you're the best around" from the Karate Kid popped into my head earlier today and it wont go away. Ah yes, classic song that. You'd be hardpressed to find a better, funnier motivation song. And I saw Ralph Maccio when I watched Enoturage last night (yes we're behind). Gotta say that was a bit weird seeing him all grown up.
  12. The Bulls need a scoring PF. With the way their offense is, they can't have 2 guys in Brown and Wallace only average together about 15 points a game. Webber's not a good idea because of his contract, age and lack of D. But if I'm John Paxson, I'd be acquiring after guys like Carlos Boozer, Zach Randolph, Troy Murphy etc. Or they could just blow the team up and go for Garnett.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) SD offense is redunkulous. You think Atlanta wishes it took LT over Michael Vick right now?
  14. To me, Soriano just screams out Adrian Beltre again. I mean he's a very good player, but he has a few flaws, and I don't think he's going to come close to the numbers he put up for the Nats this season, which means he won't live up to the contract.
  15. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) The Jazz made that trade because they thought Williams fit their system better than Paul. But with that being said I would've taken Paul and another player over Williams. Who's the other player?
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) And one of the 2 teams in your division that could have been real competition is suddenly without its best weapon, which will only help. Playing the Giants at the Meadowlands is going to shape our season. If the Giants D is still banged up when we play them I like our chances. And I think we can do damage in the playoffs once we're there. Wouldn't suprise me to see a Cowboys vs. Bears conference final.
  17. Great win obviously. Defense finally stepped up today, and showed what they are capable of. Romo continues to shine, and we took advantage of some turnovers. If the Giants lose tomorrow, there's about 5 teams all on 6-4. With the Cowboys playing another 4 games at home IIRC, we're in a great spot to get 2nd place in the NFC behind the Bears and a week off.
  18. Danks and Hurley are both better prospects than Penn or anything else that B-More has to offer. Will be dissapointed if we don't end up trading with the Rangers.
  19. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Hahaha Vanderjagt. That miss and the Romo INT is really going to cost us big time.
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Deron Williams with another fantastic game. 25 points, 14 assists. I'm so happy for him. He got so much bulls*** for going as early as he did in the '05 draft. He's going to get some all star votes with the way he's playing so far.
  21. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Jets worried me more than the Giants when the schedule came out, I predict a Jets win Watch for Australia's own Ben Graham booming punts for the Jets. He's got one HELL of a leg.
  22. QUOTE(shoota @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) You're also presupposing the only way to acquire young talent is by trading current, good players from the team. I suggest the organization supplies this talent through better drafting, scouting and development. Well you have to remember that KW has actually traded away a lot of our prospects for the likes of Jim Thome and Javier Vazquez. But I think KW has found out the value of good young pitching, because of the price you have to pay in Free Agency to actually get quality starting pitching there. Hence why he is interested in trading for Danks, Masset and possibly Hurley, because they're young, cheap and under our control for 6 seasons. We don't want to be a team that basically goes all out for a World Series, and then drops back down the division because we don't have enough young players being worked into the mix, especially if you have the likes of Dye, Garcia, Iguchi and Buehrle leaving in the next off-season.
  23. QUOTE(R.Sweeney @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) So what are you thinking, Masset in the pen with poss. Danks and or Hurley in the rotation in 08? Yeah that would be the plan right there.
  24. QUOTE(R.Sweeney @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) Im impressed man. You did your homework. I was wondering why reports kept mentioning his name. As soon as I heard Masset was a converted starter, I had a feeling he was another Jenks. Power guy, good heavy stuff who's effective when the ball is down in the zone, these are the type of guys KW wants to acquire for the pen, as you've seen from the Aardsma acquisition. I like the Hurley, Danks, Masset for Garland and BA idea, but the only reservation I have is how the Sox are going to fill the LF/CF need. If you can acquire a guy like Figgins without having to give up too much, then by all means pull the trigger on the Garland deal. QUOTE(shoota @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) Okay, that posts gives me a clear understanding of your thinking, and I wasn't factoring a new, quality bullpen arm for 2007 in my thinking. But why make moves to improve the 2008+ teams by weakening the current, Series-contending 2007 team? How does replacing a starter with someone who can put up similar numbers, and free salary for other needs weaken the 2007 team?
  25. QUOTE(shoota @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Since Garland is the best of the three, I understand why potential trading partners would offer more value to acquire him than they'd offer for Vazquez or Garcia. I believe trading Garland for pitching prospects downgrades the current, World Series-contending team by losing its best pitcher and not upgrading other areas of the 2007 team. With the construction of the current team, KW must play for the present. Garland had a 4.51 ERA for us in 2006. Who's to say Brandon McCarthy in a whole season in the rotation can't produce that, and win 18 games for us like Jon Garland did? And the money you save from dealing Garland and trading for stud pitching prospects, can then be used to upgrade over parts of the team, such as getting a good setup pitcher in Justin Speier, or upgrading in LF/CF with a new leadoff hitter. With the way our farm system is and the age of some of our guys in our lineup, we need to work more young guys into the team over the next few seasons to stay competitive. How do you figure the Minnesota Twins have been so good over the past 6 seasons?
