When will the Yankees come calling?
I'd rather trade a Heilman to get a Crisp, then to trade B-Mac plus a spect for Crawford but that's just me.

Indians acquire Barfield
QUOTE(beautox @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) half of those ABs were when the tribe we're trying to convert him back to a 2B, and he has gone on record as saying "he lost focus, and would take his defense to the plate" With the money the Tribe saved from acquiring Barfield, I'd think they'd put that money into trying and signing a corner OF or a closer for the pen. So I think Crowe will get another season in the minors regardless of what happens.

PS3
I'd buy the XBOX360 when the price comes down a little more, just before Halo 3 and GTA4 are to come out. The launch titles on the PS3 haven't really excited me that much to be honest.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Deron has absolutely no chance of being as good as Chris Paul (Paul has a great ceiling and is already lightyears better than Deron). I like Deron too, but that was an idiotic move the Jazz made. Well I don't know if CP3 would have been a "great" fit in the Jazz system. Sloan and O'Connor wanted Deron over Paul pretty much because he's bigger, tougher and stronger defensively. You know how much Sloan values defense and toughness from his coaching over the years. And I'd say Deron has become the "star" player on that team already, and will be a top 5 PG by the end of the season. I picked him up in 3 of my 4 fantasy drafts (Hammer had to take him in the other) at around picks 60-75. Right now he's looking like a HUGE steal.

Dye pulling a Buehrle?
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) I feel the same way. I mentioned earlier in the week if we had a legitimate OF prospect to (reasonably) replace Dye, and our CF/SS weren't such liabilities, I'd seriously consider trading him. Another season of numbers matching 70% of 2006 we're not receiving a good-guy discount from him. He'll have one more big contract remaining in his career, and $7 million will be a joke. I'd imagine at some point during the season, KW might try to re-sign Dye, and if he can't get a deal done, then yeah he could certainly be made available. Would be interesting if you offered him to teams like the Dodgers, Mets or Angels and could get prospects the caliber of Brandon Wood, Matt Kemp or Lastings Milledge as part of a package for him.

Mets looking to deal Milledge/Heilman?
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) trade Vazquez and Gooch for Heilman, Pelfrey, and Humber trade Garcia for Michael Young bring in veteran insurance and put in AAA Cuz maybe it is just me, but Garland, Buehrle, Contreras, Pelfrey, and McCarthy is pretty sick Of course, there's the whole going into the season with virtually two rookies in the rotation, but that's just part of the risk and reward. Atleast the Sox still have Heilman, which is nice as hell. Of course, then there's the problem with the OF, but with that much money freed up, you can almost sneak into the Soriano race. Whether it's a smart move or not is a different story all together, but it is possible. If not, there's always Alou, Drew, and Jose Guillen(who's sketchy as hell, but still good). Doubtful that's happening, but it's fun for me to think about anyways And then you could trade Heilman for say Coco Crisp to fill that LF need, and sign a swingman / SP in FA like Zach Day (can't remember what the status is on his shoulder), or Miguel Batista. So you're bringing in; Michael Young Mike Pelfrey Phillip Humber Coco Crisp Swingman SP like Day And you're shipping out; Javier Vazquez Freddy Garcia Aaron Heilman So basically it's 2SP's and a swingman SP/reliever for a stud 2B in Young, 2 stud pitching prospects in Pelfrey and Humber, and a solid leadoff hitter in Crisp. You save about $12-$15M in salaries as well, which means you can go after Walker and Speier for the pen, and even enter the J.D Drew stakes if you wanted a CF, which would then allow you to trade Anderson to the Rangers or Marlins for more young pitching. I mean a key thing here is, if the Sox can get a really good return on trading 2 SP's like they have here, if you can sign a pitcher like Batista (4.58 ERA in 2006) to a short - term deal, it's something the Sox should definitely consider.

Mets looking to deal Milledge/Heilman?
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) Whoa, now. If we have Pelfrey in our possessions and are dead-set on acquiring Crawford, his ass is staying put. McCarthy is in that deal with Fields. And I wouldn't be surprised if Williams added Sweeney to place us over the top. So you'd rather keep Pelfrey over B-Mac right now if you had to choose b/w 1 of the 2?

GM meetings are today
I see the Anderson to the Rangers rumors are happening again. Doesn't really look great for BA right now does it.

Mets looking to deal Milledge/Heilman?
Question here, if we acquired Pelfrey, do you think the D-Rays would accept Pelfrey and Fields for Crawford? I'm starting to think Heilman and Fields may not be a good enough offer.

Mets looking to deal Milledge/Heilman?
Well business is about to pick up ain't it. So let's see here, Vazquez on the table for I assume Heilman and Pelfrey or Humber. I'm going throw out an 8 ball here. How would people feel if you included Iguchi in the deal to get both Pelfrey AND Humber included (and we may even get another prospect in the deal)? It would never happen, but with Gooch entering the last year of his deal, it's food for thought. Minaya's long had his eyes on Vazquez so I can definitely see something happening here. Doesn't mean that I wouldn't prefer Garcia going instead, but I assume you would get more for Javy because he's got better stuff and he's signed longer. Would the Red Sox do Crisp for Heilman straight up you think? They'd have to sign J.D Drew first, but it could end up being Coco Crisp and Mike Pelfrey or Humber for Javy Vazquez basically. And then there's the question of whether a guy like Crisp would play in LF or CF, if the Sox decided to move Brian Anderson to a team like the Marlins. For the D-Rays, do you think they would accept Fields and Heilman for Crawford. I'd think we probably have to include another prospect as well perhaps.

GM meetings are today
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) Florida is smart enough to realize that the White Sox might sell Anderson low right now while he's still young and has a ton of room for improvement. I just keep hoping the White Sox aren't dumb enough to do so. The only way I could possibly see KW being interested in dealing BA to Florida is if he could get his hands on some of that young pitching in the Florida System. Guys like Pinto and Volstad for instance. But I would rather just hang onto BA, and get that young pitching from dealing a starter like Garcia.

GM meetings are today
So who do we like from the Rangers SP prospects? I'm thinking John Danks, and as for the young player, well it'll be hard to get someone like Young obviously, but there's Joaquin Arias, albeit his bat certainly isn't ready yet. But I've been long saying Texas is a good trading fit for us, and I expect something to get done here, especially if they can't re-sign Vince Padilla who wants $10M a season, but will probably settle for something like 4/32.

Indians acquire Barfield
Barfield's a guy I think would be PERFECT for the lower half of the order for us, if we didn't have Tadahito Iguchi. He's the type of speedy player that Ozzie likes. That OBP should rise, and he'll be under the Indians control for the next 5 seasons. Excellent trade by Shapiro.

So Tony Romo >>> Rex Grossman. Should be a HELL of a game b/w the Cowboys and the Colts at Texas Stadium next week as well. So long as we don't make stupid mistakes turning the football over, I think we're in with a real chance here.

What to do with Pods
QUOTE(shipps @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) I bet if he goes back to the national league he will have a good season next year, and thats most likely were hes goin.I just feel like there is way too much hatred for Pods when he really did contribute alot to this organization in his short time here. The 1st half of 2005 Scott Podsednik contributed a hell of a lot to this franchise and for what he did in the World Seres that year, I'll be forever grateful. But have a look at these numbers since that 1st half; Post ASB 2005 - .284/.326/.356 2006 - .261/.330/.353 He had 55 stolen bases in a period of about approx 240-250 games in that time frame, and was caught stealing 33 times, so a 3:5 ratio there. So I don't think having an OBP of about .328 is really getting the job done, and when you add to that his lack of effectiveness stealing bases and his below average fielding in LF, well I think the writing is just on the wall there.

Trade Winds?/Good Suntimes Info
The major thing I am worried about with signing Walker though is that he had a post ASB 4.50 ERA with a .306 BAA. He has better splits against lefties, and finished with a 2.81 ERA, but the Sox need to figure out why he went Neal Cotts like at the end of the season, and whether over the course of the next few seasons if Walker would be an upgrade over Cotts.

Trade Winds?/Good Suntimes Info
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) You want to give $4million per to Walker??? Or are you expecting both will settle for 2 year, $2 million per deals? In the first case, that's too much for Walker. In the second case, that's not enough for Speier. Walker's had an ERA under 4 IIRC for the last 5 seasons, and had a great season this year. Scott Eyre got something like 3 years for $11M didn't he? So Walker will find a way to get paid, because he's the best lefty reliever out there, and there's always a big demand for those. Speier may cost more possibly, but I'm hoping the Sox go in hard for him early, and maybe offer some incentives to that deal and a team option for a 3rd or 4th season, probably will have to go 3 years to get a deal done actually.
