  1. Weren't people on here complaining about what it would do for the traffic etc? But Mike brings up a good point in terms of capital investment, but the city would have to be careful in terms of building costs to ensure that the budget for it wouldn't go out of control. I think for the next winter olympics in Vancouver they have already re-done the costs for that by a few hundred million upwards.
  2. Santana's really struggled in his last 2 outings IIRC. Tonight's another great oppurunity for this team to put up some good offense on the board. The Angels are REALLY struggling right now. Their offense would probably be around bottom 5 in the MLB in terms of productivity. They've got too many guys like Kotchman and McPherson who they've either mishandled in terms of playing time, them getting injured, or just not producing. And when their pitching ain't doin the job, they're going to struggle.
  3. Out of all of the hitters, I'd probably actually suprised at the way Iguchi has started the most. He really struggled in ST, and there was a question or 2 about whether his numbers would decrease a little instead of going up, as more pitchers figured out his weaknesses etc. But so far he's proved them wrong, and it's pretty much a lock that the Sox will pick up his option, and maybe try and re-sign for about a 3 year deal in terms of what A.J got.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) I am hoping Tracey can be a pretty stellar bullpen guy for us next season. But yes, we'll probably want to add a vet. I think it'll be hard for him to jump right in and contribute straight away, he may have a season like Cotts and Adkins did in 2004 getting used to the major league level. But he's a guy I could definitely see having success in the pen down the road. Getting a reliever like Arthur Rhodes, Ray King, Steve Kline, David Riske, LaTroy Hawkins etc. could be a crucial aspect of this team's off-season.
  5. Yeah I don't think we'll be ever seeing Hermy back to what he was this time last season again for the White Sox. But we'll have $4M to use when his contract is up at the end of the season (I think that's what he's on), and with Politte's deal ending as well, we'll probably need to sign a fairly good set-up man in the off-season.

    Haeger

If Charlie comes up, and has 2 great starts, it certainly will put the cat among the pigeons. Since he's got plenty of options, I'd probably still prefer to move him back down to Charlotte. But if I'm KW, and if I could trade Haeger to a team that really needed a young starter, if they were willing to overpay by including a real good prospect, then yeah I would go for it. I think we've got better SP prospects in the minors anyway. I would love to get a good middle infield prospect for or farm system.
  7. Broadway has a 1.61 ERA now with a 37/7 K/BB ratio from 7GS. Looks the goods so far this season.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 9, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) A lot of that has to do with the fact he pitched in a pitcher's paradise. Doing that someplace like Charlotte is tons more impressive. 40IP and not 1 HR this season is mightily impressive indeed, especially down in a hitters park at Charlotte. 20BB's though, so if the Angels are patient at the plate, that spells trouble.
  9. First of all props to everyone here at Futuresox for getting used at Rotoworld. Job well done to Jason and everyone else. Hopefully this is only something minor for Jose and we'll see him back soon and back to his best. He's been our best SP so far, and we'll need him back at 100% as soon as possible. Haeger's done extremely well down at Charlotte and deserves the chance. Let's hope he can make the most of it, because it'd be great to see another knuckleballer do well in the major leagues. And finally, I hope the next time someone posts a rumor and asks for confirmation, isn't immediately flamed as a troll.
  10. I've been addicted to these chips ever since I've been here, I suggest you go try a pack (the Salt and Vinegar ones); http://www.poorebrothers.com/xml/cart/cata...category=100001
  11. I see a few people down in Australia wearing some Sox stuff, mostly because it looks good and it's one of the better logo's around. I'm sure if you asked tem who Mark Buehrle was though, they wouldn't have a clue.
  12. We're holding up ok without JD at the moment, so the Sox should give him as much time as possible to make sure that he's definitely 100% recovered from his injury.
  13. Guess we'll never have to hear someone call him "Cruddy" again right? Joe's almost been the MVP of this team so far, besides Thome. Some people thought he wouldn't be able to carry on his good September / playoff form from last season, but he's proved them wrong.

    Righty? Lefty?

Everything Righty. Because it's the RIGHT thing to do.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 8, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I think Soxtalk is home to the highest % of lefties in the world. Freaks.
  16. Brian 1 for 3 today. I'll take that anyday of the week. Hopefully he keeps it going.

    WOW

Who said we can't draw a crowd.
  18. I feel sorry for Justin Huber, I really do. He deserves a lot better. But a good win today, in one of those games where we weren't at our best, and we had to battle. The bullpen came in and did their job. You see they can provide 3IP of scoreless relief.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir might be the only really good trade in Devil Rays history, but damn what a trade it was. I believe it was actually one of Minaya's first moves as GM of the Mets, oops! Wasn't that back when Jim Duquette was still the GM? Also, this might force the Mets to move Mike Pelfrey quickly through the system as well.
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) I don't really know what is so special about this thread.. I mean, people blame Ozzie for just about every loss on the year. What makes this one unique? Bullpen usage of course. And then some people are always going to want replacements, even if they're not ready to contribute yet.
  21. Often 40 or over. Wow.
  22. I didn't see the game tonight, but was Anderson doing anything different with his swing tonight? Being more aggressive in the count and not falling behind 0-2?
  23. Here's a photo of me snowboardin today;
  24. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 7, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Twins come from behind to beat the Tigers 7-6 in the 9th. The 1st 4 hitters for Minny had 9 out of the 13 hits for the Twinkies tonight. It shows that when those guys don't hit, they're not going to score many runs, because the bottom half of their order ain't very good at all. And more amazingly, Jesse Crain actually had 3K's and didn't give up a run in 1.1IP. And oh yeah, the longer the Tigers keep Todd Jones as their closer, the better for us.
