  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) However, one thing, I miss the original thread you're mocking in this. Weren't those the days or what. Oh boy we had some fun back then.
  2. I'm sure you'll be gettin up to no good up there. Happy B-Day Man.
  3. Having 2 21st's, 2 nights in a row, isn't really the best to remember your weekend.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) Brian 1 Good to see you keeping count tonight Heads.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) Uhh I think you have me confused with someone else... First off I wasn't even on the site when we had Lofton... 2nd I was confused as all hell when he got Everett because it was just as Aaron was heating up... It was a useless trade... I had been a Rowand fan for the past 4 years at least... It's just they gave up on him too quick... But as I said before Rowand ALWAYS had the short compact swing... But the ugly loopy pre 2005 Joe Crede swing Brian Anderson has... It's not even a fair comparison... Anyone else see the irony in this statement? Don't forget now in Rowand's 1st full season at CF in the majors in each month he hit .250/.200/.225/.214/.276/.294. I wonder what would have happened if they gave up on him too quick, which I'm sure they're going to do with Anderson.
  6. Please don't turn my thread bad. Anyways this thread also includes possible relievers; Don't know the story with him as to why he failed in Colorado, but if you want a good long man for the pen, this is your guy. Had some good seasons for Montreal (Josh knows a bit about him), and IIRC the White Sox have been interested in him before.
  7. The Reds might have found another Felipe Lopez here. They've really got a vey nice lineup at the moment if that's the case, and they could afford to play Griffey at 1B and Freel at CF.
  8. So to recap; Charlotte won 5-4. Randolph gave up 4ER in 5IP, not a great outing. Jeff Farnsworth picked up his 4th save of the year. Fields 1 for 3 with a BB and a 2B. Owens 2 for 5 with a 2B (AVG up to .237 now), and Sweeney 1 for 5 (also hittin .237). B-Ham lost 2-1. Ryan Rodriguez gave up 1ER in 6IP, 3BB's and 3K's. Getz 3 for 4 (.304 now), and Valido 2 for 4 (.263) providing a nice punch at the top of the order. Only Mark Quinn had 1 hit, and the rest of the lineup had 0. Kanny won 9-3. Ricky Brooks went 5.1IP, 3ER, 3BB's and 8K's. Jason Rice had 6K's in 2.2IP of relief. Orlando went 0 for 4 with 2K's, Francisco Hernandez homered (went 2 for 4, now .324), Salvador Sanchez 2 for 4 (.213), and Castillo 3 for 5 with a HR. Even Brandon Allen had 2 hits.
  9. If the Vikings doesn't make their pick in 18 hours, I'm making mine.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) As mentioned within numerous threads, name me the last legitimate prospect we've developed from Latin America? Carlos Lee? It's ridiculous how an area of the world producing such a large percentage of major leaguers cannot give us anything in over 12 years. If you seemingly ignore scouting south of Texas, you never give yourself an opportunity to sign a Liriano or Hernandez. This is my concern. We're missing out on some amazing talent. Why do you think they just opened up a baseball academy in Venezuela, and are bringing prospects like Francisco Hernandez, Salvador Sanchez, Anderson Gomes and Paulo Orlando into the frame then? I agree it's an issue that the Sox need to put more money into, but I think at least they're heading somewhere down the right path towards respectability on the issue.
  11. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 06:35 AM) I wish we'd of traded him for Juan Cruz when we had the chance... At least find a decent CF somewhere... Yes let's trade one of our top prospects for a reliever. YAY!!!!
  12. Is Wirtz just not interested in selling at all? Because I think if you're someone looking for a professional sports franchise, that could actially give you a pretty good return on your investment, the Blackhawks could be a fairly good option. Because you know Chicago is a sleeping giant in terms of fan support etc.
  13. But duuuuude, we drew under 30,000 for the last 3 games. WE SUCK!!!!
  14. It's all part of the learning curve. There's no doubt he's got to adjust, and I've got no doubt he will. You can't just dump him back to AAA after a bad month like the Twins have done with Jason Bartlett. At least at the moment it isn't a huge problem while the rest of our offense are generally doing a pretty good job. Plus Anderson's defense has been fairly good so far as well. Stay persistent with the young players. It'll pay off.
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 07:19 AM) Nice. For some reason, I can't find it in me to give up on Malone. He's been one of my favorite prospects since like 2001. The most important thing for him right now is that his control is very good, which was his major problem last season. 8BB's in 3 games that he's started (probably around 20IP) which is a big improvement for him. As long as he can keep that up, there's definitely still hope. Chris Getz had a real nice game tonight too, 3 for 4 with 2 2B's. Good to see him to start hitting better at B-Ham, AVG up to .269 now. Carlos Torres only pitched 1 inning tonight, so he may have gotten some type of injury.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Serbia won their preliminary group over Spain but they get ranked 48th while Spain get's ranked 5th? The REAL rankings should be: 1.) Australia 2,) Serbia 3.) Azerbeijan 4.) Asia 5.) South America Hey SoxFan1 can you tell me a little about Nikola Zigic (I think he's Serbian). He almost signed for West Ham a few months back, and I think he's the tallest striker in the world or something. Look out for this guy at the World Cup, you can't miss him.
  17. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) I have never seen a team who were now as patient in at-bats as the sox are cause of one player they've brought in. It is still early in the season, but it's nice to see these guys get good at-bats and be patient at the plate this season. And this is the main reason why our offense is doing so well right now. Our hitters are being a lot more patient like you've said, and they're waiting for the right pitch to hit. People say a team like Detroit will have a better offense than us. Well they have awful plate discipline as a team as a whole. If we can keep up our plate discipline, I'd almost argue that we'd have a better offense than them.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I think right now there are some people who would put Kendrick over Wood, largely based on the fact that Kendrick has perfomed at a higher minor league level than Wood and has shown very good numbers in batting average, which I think sometimes translates better than power numbers to the big leagues. Well I would argue that Wood has a much higher ceiling than Kendrick in terms of power, and what he did in the Arizona League during the off-season was phenonemal. Hitting 43HR's in high A ball at age 20 is pretty darn impressive too (even if he has to work on his plate discipline). I don't think necessarily that having a good BA average in the minors translates to having better power in the majors either. I mean if you look at Jeremy Reed, he has an amazing AVG down at Birmingham, and even though he's hitting in a pitchers park in Seattle, and his power will come later on in his career, he hasn't done anything power wise yet.
  19. And to think that kid's religion has been locked away just like that. And I would prefer to be Brit's and Kev's kid BTW.
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) Pacers locked the 6 seed with their win over DB's Magic 89-83 tonight. Yep, we gave most of our game time to our bench guys but we gave it a shake. Ariza looked very good on the boards (he better be re-signed), while Dooling and Arroyo looked the goods at the guard spots as per usual. Dunno why Darko didn't get more minutes though.
  21. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) Their rankings definitely never make sense. I don't think the US can beat several of those teams. To put this into context, Australia defeated Jamaica 5-0 in a friendly in England late last year, while you guys drew with them 1-1. No way you're better than Argentina, Italy, France and England.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) They're currently 5th in baseball in BB/PA You can thank Jim Thome for that.
  23. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:55 AM) If he keeps it up, I'd say Papelboner has as good as chance as anyone, especially with all of the writers slurping up the Red Sawx. Yeah he's probably the odds on favorite to win it right now, the way he's gettin the job done for the Red Sox in the closer's role. Will be interesting to see if they convert him back into a starter's role next season though.
  24. Since the list is for younger players who will be valuable to their team in the future, it's not really a top 50 list. Still there's some bad errors here. Kendrick over Wood. I'm sure Jason would tell us that's not right. David Ortiz so high (I doubt whether he can produce the numbers he has over the next few years), and B.J Upton at 25 (not like his defense is a problem or anything right)?
