  1. What I want to know is whether Darin Erstad or Ken Griffey Jr. is going to be our guy later on in the season?
  2. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) as much as it pains me to say this but kobe is the most valuable to his team HANDS DOWN I disagree with this statement. I don't think anyone else doubts that Kobe is the best player in the NBA. But Steve Nash makes each of his teammates a WHOLE lot better. If Phoenix didn't have Nash, suddenly players like Boris Diaw and Tim Thomas would be go back to thier old ways. Kobe just wants to score at will, and that doesn't really help his teammates much.
  3. There was a site posted a while back from Bob Dylan where you could just play any old NES game on the internet (good times playing Mike Tyson Punch Out all over again).
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Interesting little tidbit here. The Sox have 80 runs allowed after 20 games, but the Tigers have allowed only 78 in 21 games. That's 1/8th of the season. Have the young Tiger pitchers finally hit a comfort level with Rogers in place as the grizzled veteran ace? Could be something to watch. So far I think with the Tigers, their bullpen has been pretty damn good so far, Rodney's done an excellent job, and they've got some good depth in there ATM. As far as their pitching staff, I still have my doubts. Maroth and Robertson can still get hit hard from time to time, and they don't strike out a lot of guys. Verlander's going to be wild from time to time, and Rogers isn't known to be a good 2nd half pitcher from the past few seasons. I do think Bonderman is quickly becoming their best pitcher though. They need to re-sign that dude to a long - term contract as soon as they can.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Especially when you have mediocre starting pitching like they do. Byrd looks pretty much done at this point. Never liked that signing for them much. Johnson has been pitching above himself so far, but I don't know if that can continue either. A lot of question regarding the Indians pitching ATM, and that's a really good thing for us.
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Tribe are now .500 Before the start of the season, the #1 question mark I had on the Tribe was their bullpen. It was always going to be hard for them to replace the output Howry, Rhodes and Riske had for them last season. And they've been lucky Mota's done the job for them so far. But the other guys haven't pulled their weight. And it shows how important a good bullpen is for a winning ballclub.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) Yup, 79 ABs is certainly enough to get a good read on a guy. Especially when he's hitting in a new ballpark and everything. Of course I suppose we saying the same thing about Jermaine Dye midway thru May last year weren't we.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) I like Cunningham a lot. I know it's early and all, but is there a thought of possibly sending down Gomes to low A ball, and promoting Cunningham to high A ball. I doubt it would happen, but it's something the Sox could possibly look into.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) umm Kanny won 10-8 not lost. Ahh so they did. My bad (at least I got the score right).
  10. Good comeback tonight. Vazquez looked good, although it was really the perfect park for him to be pitching in. Jermaine Dye's been on a tear, which is really good to see after the start he had last season.
  11. BA with some good plate discipline tonight drawing 2 walks. Went hitless, but if he can keep drawing BB's, and get on base, I'll be very happy nonetheless.
  12. Good to see Boone pitch 3 innings today. He needed the work.
  13. Kanny had an interesting game today (lost 10-8). Ricky Brooks hasn't had a good start to the year. 2IP, 5ER, 3BB's and 2K's. ERA up to 6.35 now. But now for the good news. Aaron Cunningham went 3 for 4 in the leadoff spot with 2 HR's (hitting .317 now). Salvador Sanchez went 3 for 5 with a 2B and a HR (hitting .234 now). Brandon Allen and Carter also homered. No Orlando today. I really like the look of Cunningham right now. He'd have an OPS of around .900, which after making the jump from rookie ball last season, is pretty damn good. He's becoming a very nice prospect, and I think more people are going to start taking notice of him. The Hogs lost 8-2. Torres gave up 5ER in 2.1IP. Kelly homered, Gomes 0 for 3 (hitting .213 right now). B-Ham won 7-2. Ryan Rodriguez had an excellent outing, 7IP, 0ER, 2BB's and 5K's. ERA of 1.88 right now. Looks like every starting hitter had a hit for B-Ham which is a welcome change. Valido and Schnurstein both had 2.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) LOL talk about being irrational. Right now, a few days later, after this story has happened, would you still think Manning to that offer sheet and give up a 3rd rounder for him?
  15. If Javon Walker gets healthy again (and actually stays on the team), that offense suddenly looks a lot more respectable again. And their defense did make a jump last season as well. I don't think they'll be as bad as what as many people are predicting.
  16. QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Alot of teams top pitching prospects(or top 2 for that matter), wouldn't be in the top 5 of our current pitching prospects. Dont forget Uggla either, a beauty steal from the rule v. I am hoping Kris Harvey can continue to progress, and end the year at Carolina. He's got a cannon and a good bat. I'd like to see him in LF next year(I am in the slight minority, but think he can be ready next season), and have Willingham behind the plate. And, I dont like Jacobs. He's looking more and more like a bust, I personally would like to trade him before his value depreciates totally. What do you think making a waiver claim for Joe Borchard MarlinFan? At least Jacbos has a fairly good K/BB ratio I suppose. He does need to start hitting soon though.
  17. QUOTE(GoSosaGoCubsGo @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) With the growing membership in Sox fans this year, gear yourself for more bandwagon fans. Soon The Gays will be spotted at the cell, and who knows if the south side culture can co-exist with the boys from boystown. The Cubs would have been a much better team if sosa was playing with them this year. Nice pics from Clubitup.com . They look like typical white sox fans. I knew Jimbos was a gay club. Goodbye.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) Chris shelton was a career .332 hitter in the minors with a .967 ops... he had also shown very good plate discipline. I don't think it is impossible for him to end up with as high as .950 ops... though i think he will settle into the low .900 range. Afterall he did have a .870 ops in over 400 plate appearances last year. I do love the fact he is doing this with only 285 at-bats in doube and triple a combined though. Yet another wonderful move by Dave Littlefield leaving him unprotected in the Rule V Draft.
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) I saw this and automatically thought "Andrew will be crushed" I think I'm the kiss of death when it comes to following our minor league talent. Hence why I ain't gonna hav an AAP, for fear of him becoming the next "Nachreiner".
  20. The Aussie is down with it. Probably best to have 12 people at the most, and do it like a real Fantasy Draft though.
  21. Broadway's line today; 7IP, 2ER, 0BB's, 4K's. B-Ham lost 2-1 to Jacksonville. Orlando and Allen have homered for Kanny. Orlando is 3 for 4. Hitting .391 now.
  22. So much for my sleeper pick 2 years back ey SoxAce?
  23. Javier Lopez has a 0.00 ERA down at Charlotte in 9IP FWIW. I think they're gonna keep Logan up until he actually starts costing them games though. Not like it's a huge problem ATM, just like Brian Anderson really.
  24. Heineken is a lot better than the majority of Aussie Beers. (Oh and I have a Belgium Leffe in the fridge which I am yet to consume Jim).
