  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) Did you see what happened in today's game? He was throwing meatballs and was yanked due to some sort of injury. That's why it's good it's happening in Spring Training and not in a crucial part of an important regular season game. My point is, I think it's more likely as Jason said that we'd trade for a guy who could fill in that role if Hermy got injured, instead of changing B-Mac into a setup man.
  2. I think one bad outing doesn't make you go into a panic move. We've still got Cotts and Politte for that role. Your concerns on Hermy are warranted, but let's wait before he actually bombs in the regular season, before we think a move might be made.
  3. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) Washington now has Moss II, Brandon Lloyd, David Patten and El. That is a hell of a crew. I think Lloyd might take the number two spot. He is a solid deep route runner which leaves EL and Patten sharing 3 & 4. I just don't know how far Brunnell will be able to throw the ball. It can be pretty tough to drop back when you are using a walker. I don't think the Bears are in need of a WR too badly. I think Bradley steps up and wins the number two spot. I hate Dan Snyder and the Redskins. You guys feel the same way now? Just think if a new CBA wasn't reached, this may not hav happened, as the Skins may not have had the cap-room to do this.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) and where is Kobe? I don't like complete ball hogs. But yeah, should hav been on the list
  5. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:59 AM) A case can certainly be made. And billups is not a superstar. Well I know most people could argue that, but Billups is up there in the MVP race right now and on the best team in the NBA right now.
  6. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Probably??? Superstar's a top 5 NBA player for mine. I'd call Brand a star though, but would you call him one of the top 5 players in the NBA when he's got this competition? Kevin Garnett Steve Nash Lebron James Dirk Nowitski Chauncey Billups Dwayne Wade
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) Brand has been a 20 and 10 guy ever since his rookie season with the Bulls. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/elton_brand/index.html And yet now this season he's shooting at an all time high in field goal percentage, career high in FT% and career low in TO's. And if you talk to experts around the league, Brand was a damn good player, now he's probably a superstar. That's because he worked so hard in the off-season at getting fitter and various aspects of his game.
  8. I still think people need to wait until you pair Chandler with an actual center (like Aldridge) and see how he does then. This is what Brand's 5th or 6th season in the NBA and he hasn't really dominated like he has until this season. Maybe the same timeframe for Chandler?

    Good Eats!

C'mon guys I thought it'd be right up your alley.
  10. Hopefully Konerko can hit better with RISP as well, especially if Thome gets on base a lot.
  11. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) A major upgrade no doubt. It's for that reason Balta that I'm not predicting doom and gloom this season--I'm predicting playoffs. I really think the offense will pickup the rest of the things that can and will go wrong. And we're gonna need those type of extra runs for this upcmoing season, because we can't rely on our bullpen being as good as it was 2005, with the likes of Hermy, Politte and Jenks etc. and even with our rotation, can the likes of Buerhle hold up with the amount of innings he's thrown over the past couple of seasons, and can Vazquez rebound and can Garland continue throwing the way he did in 2005?
  12. Scouting Report on Bochenski; I also like the way our defense is shaping up at the moment. It's no secret, Tallon has to get at least 2 top 6 forwards for this offense, and that's what he needs to do in the off-season at the very least.
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) Where did you hear this? It's been reported a few times on Rotoworld. Makes sense if the Bears can snag him considering Brown's injury problems, but Archuleta may prefer to go to a situation where he'd be a definite starter.
  14. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) Actually I would rather we trade for Griffey Jr, Beltran, Vernon Wells, or any other quality CF... And what would you give up for these "quality CF's", and for Beltran and Griffey can you find an extra 10-15M in payroll for Jerry Reinsdorf so that he can squeeze them in?
  15. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) If Sweeney stays hot and Anderson continues to lick balls then I wouldn't put anything past Ozzie. Thats all i'm saying... How can Anderson not be ready when he produced well enough in AAA for a season, while Sweeney hit about 2 HR's in AA in 2005? Once again, people take too much into what some players do in Spring Training.
  16. Should Carl even be starting everyday for the Mariners at this stage of his career? As for his comments, well let everybody write us off. We played the underdog card last year and that worked out just fine. And how can Willie Harris and Frank Thomas actually be interpreted being important in terms of chemistry in the clubhouse?
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) Can I ask the obvious, if he is getting "shellacked" than why would we want him back in the 1st place? Because it's only spring training, and he's still got a fairly good future. Plus IIRC, he's never pitched higher than Winston Salem in high A ball.
  18. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) I like getting picks in the post mike smith era of drafting. Funny that, because Tallon said yesterday IIRC that he didn't want to stockpile picks.
  19. Nobody wanted the contracts of Brown or Cullimore I see. I like the Arny trade though. Bocheski could be another Vrbata for this team, he did have some success in Ottawa when they actually played him.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) Interesting, there actually is a Red Sox / Bajenaru connection... http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbac...intron0309.html I wonder if Byrnes was still with the Red Sox, whether it could possibly be Tony Graffanino and not Alex Cintron who'd be with this ballclub today?
  21. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Maybe not even the Yankees... And didn't the Yankees show last season what it's like when you have a bad defensive center fielder? We didn't win the world series last year by out-slugging teams and having the best offense in baseball. We won with great pitching and good defense. You put Griffey in Center Field, and that dramatically takes away from the second aspect I've listed there. Not to mention the payroll and contract issues that go along with acquiring him. And of course, he's Cincinatti's main marketble player up there.
  22. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) Ok... fine obviously no Griffey love here... You know whats funny is I was against this trade last year and you guys were then all for it... Now it's the opposite... Yes obviously Griffey is a step down defensively but it would make us one of the best teams offensively in baseball... Would you have rathered to give up Chris Young and other prospects for Griffey Jr. or Young and Vizcaino for Javier Vazquez? The Griffey thing last season was an overreaction by posters here about the state of our offense. I'm sure now if they looked back on it, they'd think we'd be giving up too much in that deal.
  23. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) I'm not saying we give up anything quality for him... Just Joe "lost cause" Borchard... Anderson would still be in AAA if we needed him... Than why would Wayne Krivsky do that deal, if he could trade Willy Mo Pena or Austin Kearns and possibly get more in return?
  24. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 06:05 PM) Well to be fair US Cellular field is hardly the hardest place in the league to play CF... Hell he'd be better then Carl Everett was when he was our starting CF... Somehow adding another potential 40 HR hitter in the lineup just makes me want to cream my pants... Don't forget how much Griffey has left on his contract. At least if you re-signed Frank, you could have done that for a lot cheaper. Griffey does have that potential, but it's also more likely than not that he'll miss some time during the season, and saying he's better than Everett in CF isn't really saying much about his defensive abilities at all, when Ozzie and KW are building a team around pitching and defense which has always been the plan.
  25. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) Griffey has the range of a fat man riding a Rascal™ scooter with the low battery light flashing. Did you see him allow that inside the parker today? Took him an hour and a half to back-up the gimpy Holliday. Now that Thome's on board, I would agree with Hawk. Where Would He Play? That was my first thought after seeing Stern score today on that as well. At least Anderson should provide good defense, and some people think he's better than Rowand in that regard.
