QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) Trib Gload provides defense? Granted at first, but not in the OF.

Haha that's hilarious. Of course when you pick the likes of Al Leiter and actually have him pitch, you probably deserve to lose.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) really? i didn't know that, kinda sucks. and by 'kinda sucks' i mean 'really sucks'. Enjoy;

Ryan Gomes puts up 29 points and 11 boards tonight, after 27 points and 9 boards in his previous game. Wow. Could he be their PF for the future and not Al Jefferson? And all of a sudden, Portland and Orlando could very well still get the most ping - pong balls for the lotterey. Charlotte won tonight, and the Knicks have won 2 straight.

Is it ok for me to say Ben Gordon would actually be an ok fit for the Magic considering the alternatives (DeShawn "I can't hit a layup to save my life" Stevenson)? I suppose at least with him, you don't rely on him to put up numbers in rebounding etc. like you do with Eddy Curry which is why Bulls fans hated him so much.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) This could mean an extension for Briggs. But then again he wants more money than Urlacher and his agent is Mr. "Next Question".

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) I think a 4th or 5th will get a deal done for Ramsey. He's a solid QB and I wouldn't have a problem in that. I think he's better than any of hte QB's you would draft in that round. However, if Daunte is released I would make a full pressed effort to sign him or at least consider doing so. The guy had 38 td's in one season and would instantly become the best QB to ever play for the Bears. Don't forget Ramsey was a 1st round pick himself, and under Spurrier he was starting to throw the ball nicely and was beginning to put up some fairly good numbers. Then Joe Gibbs came in, and basically killed all the momentum he has because he wasn't "his guy". The Skins should stick to their guns IMHO. Besides Culpepper and Brees, unless you go to the draft, there's not a lot of alternatives on the QB market. If I was a team like the Lions, Bills etc. I'd take a long look at Ramsey for a 3rd.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 04:55 AM) Australian Rules Football IIRC. Ya you're right, but I was actually playing Touch Footy for the 2nd week in a row which is basically rugby. I just didn't want to say that, in case Southsider decided he wanted to post another picture of a blowup doll. As for my quad, it's still quite sore, but at least I can actually walk on it now. Yesterday afternoon in the office, I was basically on one leg to the amusement of my co-workers.

I think in the right situation Ramsey can very much succeed in the NFL. And I think they'll end up gettin a 3rd rounder for him. Remember the Travis Henry situation? They held out for a long time, and eventually the Titans ended up giving the Bills a 3rd rounder. If the Skins can afford to hang onto Ramsey with their current cap situation, they may very well try and go down the same route here.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) It said he was outrighted to Charlotte. My guess is that means he cleared waivers. I'm dissapointed because i think he was our best candidate. Not that I like any of our candidates. It seems as if Ozzie was negatively biased prior to camp. So much for my prediction in that article I wrote. I don't know, maybe they want Munoz starting down at Charlotte and concentrating on that fully. But Lopez looks to be the winner for sure now, unless another trade is made. Let's just hope he can induce enough groundballs in that LOOGY role.

White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron
DBAHO replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I suppose after Baj's bad first outing in ST the writing was probably on the wall for him. I hope he suceeds in Arizona. It's a good situation for him out there, and hopefully he can produce like he's done for Charlotte. Now as for Cintron, he's overpaid at $1,600,000, but I suppose we can live with that. But don't forget he can produce as well. Splits of .317/.359/.489 in 2003, showed that. And he's a guy who won't strike out a ton either with good plate discipline with a 138/84 K/BB ratio in 1424 AB's. He hit around .317/.368/.460 in the Puerto Rican League during the off-season as well. -
QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Not ideal. But you have to think of a back up plan in case of an injury. Owens may not be better than Pods in CF. That would be Rob Mackowiak.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) He looks soft, but he's actually a very smart player on the court. He's a great help defender (even though refs won't give him benefit of doubt right now). At least he gives the Bulls another tall guy instead of their 20th power forward at 6'8". And he's an AUSSIE!!!!

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) Iguchi struck out 114 times last season. I hope he doesn't strike out more than that this season. Oftentimes, he was in a hole because he was taking pitches so Podsednik could steal. He won't have to do that this season if he's batting sixth. That was my first thought about Gooch coming into this season. Quite a few times he struck out on the high fastball, and that's something he needs to address down lower in the order. As for how he'll do, I expect an improvement in the power numbers of course, but I wouldn't be suprised if the jump isn't as big as people are expecting.

Sweeney needs more time in the minors without a shadow of a doubt. In fact he may not even be ready for 2007. Needs to actually prove he can hit for some power. Fields needs to improve on his plate discipline and to continue to improve his fielding at Charlotte. He'll probably be ready for 2007, but will there be a spot for him? Owens is the wildcard of course. I think it's definitely more beneficial for him to get regular AB's for Charlotte instead of him sitting on the pine in the majors. Remember he's only been in the minors for 2 seasons.

Would it be possible for people to call in with their questions perhaps, or at least you guys answering some via E-Mail altough I know you guys said you would be taking them, could do it every show.

Anyone see Thomas Brice drop a catch in Right Field for the Aussies today? (we were hammered by U.S.A version 2.0, I mean Italy by the way).
-
LMAO, Bill Simmons is great;

I've torn a muscle in my quad / hamstring today after playing footy at lunch. Not the greatest feeling in the world right now let me tell you.
-
On an unrelated note, you gotta feel for this guy;
-
Yeah it's definitely a 4 man race now, although it's easy to say Tucker and Bentz are probably outsiders at this point. Munoz needs to come out with a good outing to put the pressure back on Lopez.

Sigh.... Here we go again.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) Wait til special guest Heads. Wait til they start prank calling me. And nice show guys.

That was actually quite good. But yes, I echo the message on growing the hair back as soon as possible Nat.

Little suprised to see Reynoso not give up an ER yet, albeit he's only pitched 2 innings.
