  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) Was Ashton a helluva pick-up for West Ham or what? I'm liking our method of Alan Pardew trying to buy the best young English Players he can to mould a team that can get into Europe. Players like Anton Ferdinand, Nigel Reo - Coker etc. have gone from strength to strength this season. Ashton could even be a late bolter for the England World Cup Squad, but he needs to keep scoring.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 2, 2006 -> 05:31 AM) If the Bulls draft Adam Morrison, I might cry. If they take Morrison over Aldridge, I'll consider finding a new team. I'm pretty sure if the Magic get a chance to take Morrison before the Bulls, they'll do it. And unless Paxson sees him as a SG, and can trade Ben Gordon, I don't think you'll need to worry that much.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 2, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) Who wants to be that somehow he'll fit right in on the Suns and turn into another version of Diaw? Wouldn't suprise me at all. Mike D'Antoni can get anybody to fit into their system, so long as they can shoot and can play in an uptempo style of play. And this is a chance for Thomas to prove to Paxson and Chicago that he can actually contribute.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) He did get posterized by Lamar though. He's had a couple of bad games in a row, and his man on man defense can still be improved a hell of a lot. But he still had 15 points, 9 boards which is not a bad game.

    Gone before their time

    QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 06:19 AM) "NewsRadio" definitely comes to mind. First one that popped into my head as well.
  6. Playing Touch Footy (basically rugby without the mauling, tackling) today in 90 degree heat showed me how much I really need to get into shape / fit. But I did have the honor of scoring the first try with a nice little dummy (I'm assuming nobody has any idea what I'm talkin about here).
  7. Now if the Bulls don't get Aldridge, and they don't want Bargnani (although I think he could end up being the next Pau Gasol, not the next Fran Vazquez), I found this little snippet; And ESPN's Draft Lottery has come out; http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/index?&lpos=...lid=gn_NBA_NBA#
  8. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) The two Howards are fairly solid, but they have a similar problem with shooting. I don't think it really matters Dwight Howard doesn't have that much of a post game at the moment because he's become such a monster already in terms of rebounding, putbacks etc. that he'll be a big asset to that team.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Well look on the team he has been on too not much to play for... and while they always had weapons never really had much of an O-Line especially one like ours. I dispute that. They've got LeCharles Bentley who's one of the top 5 C/G's in the NFL without a doubt, and some solid other lineman in Mayberry, Gandy and Jacox. Brooks has been put in an excellent position down there, with a great running back, and fairly good receivers and he hasn't suceeded.
  10. Frederico looks big in that 2nd pic right there.
  11. And suprise, suprise (you Bulls fans would be loving this more by the day);
  12. Spiff, Ryan Gomes has been playing very well lately at PF for you guys. I know Ainge gets a lot of stick and rightfully so, but he's hit on some draft picks in the last couple of years in Delonte West and Gomes. It's too bad Marcus Banks is coming out in Minnesota now though.
  13. I'll always be a fan of Frank Thomas for what he did on the field, and I think almost all Sox fans are going to say that. But this is what about the 2nd or 3rd time he's opened his mouth now, saying he's been disrespected etc. It's just gettin old, and Frank just needs to zip it, and make his statements on the field and not off it. Do I agree with KW. Probably. Frank was never a model citizen in the clubhouse. Did KW need to go out in public again and come out with what he did. Maybe, maybe not. He could have just taken the high road like Jim Thome did. The last thing we need is a slanging match. The focus should be on the team trying to repeat, and not on Thomas vs. KW. Both parties just need to let it go, accept what's happened (Frank especially), and just move on for the better. Hopefully it happens. Wouldn't suprise me if this issue is brought again more than once throughout 2006, which would be a shame.
  14. I'm gettin on the Aaron Cunningham bandwagon myself.
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Aldridge will be ours. Hey don't forget the lottery now.
  16. Perhaps Jim Bowden will intensify moves to trade Alfonso Soriano now.
  17. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) I thought Jason's baby was his hair? Or his beard.
  18. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) IMO Sweeden takes this game because of their solid defense. Forsberg, Sundin and Alfredsson is a hell of a first line for them, and I think it'll probably be the difference b/w the two teams. Although Henrik Lundqvist has to be more solid in goal.
  19. Hopefully it'll sorta be like the old Soxnet days, and hopefully we can keep it active enough so that we can stay on top of things whether it's news, opinion pieces etc. But this has been Jason's baby and he's done a super job on it, along with Kap and everyone else who's helped out on it.
  20. QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) I'll be up bright and early to cheer on Finland! I My sister is forcing me to root for Sweden. Cosmic forces I tell ya.
  21. QUOTE(crazyman26 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) I wonder what you will all be saying in September when Orton, or a free agent, or draft pick is the starting QB. Why are the Bears looking into signing a veteran QB, and then Orton will be the 3rd QB?
  22. QUOTE(TLAK @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) Should have been green, I had pictured Rogo in AAA at 1B this year but they keep bringing in guys ahead of him. If Jacobson and Dugan (and possibly Gload) are in Charlotte then its probably back to Bhama again. Casey's getting Rowandesque, every time I see him play on TV (in the spring games), he looks like a nice player, but management keeps bringing in guys over him. He's on the 40 man, so we know they are not giving up on him. He's like the guy who finally gets ahead in the rat race and they bring in a new rat. Rogo can also play in the OF for Charlotte, and that's what he'll probably have to do if he ever wants to make it for the White Sox.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Ross Gload, your ticket is punched. About a month ago, I started a thread about this exact topic, and players like Walter Young were mentioned as possible targets. I just thought at the time, after what happened with Gload in 2005, and what he said when he was called up, there were some bridges that were burnt, and it was going to be hard for him to stay here. Now it will be interesting to see if KW is able to move Gload in a deal or not. Not sure if Gload is out of options or not. Now onto Jacobson. I'm guessing the Mariners gave to DH job to Everett simply because of the fact Everett's got the runs on the board, and that Safeco is much more benficial to LH power hitters, than it is for RH power hitters. Why else would they re-sign Raul Ibanez for an extra 2 years after this season (well Bill Bavasi is still one of the worst GM's in the game today). Now Jacobson can crush lefties. He put up a 1.040 OPS against them in 50 AB's in 2004. And away from Safeco he had splits of .317/.360/.488. Reading some things that the M's fans say of him though, his plate discipline needs work, as does his eye. But the good news is, they say he can hit the opposite way, and he's got good power to the gaps. He's a perfect backup plan in case Jim Thome gets hurt. Excellent signing by KW here. He's covering all of his bases here.
