  1. From the prospects side of things, I mentioned Cole Hamels earlier on in the thread. He only pitched in 6 games in 2005 in A and AA due to injury problems, but his ERA has been very good at every stop. Floyd's 2005 was disturbing at best. 6.16 ERA in AAA, with a 97/66 K/BB ratio in 23 games started. His control has seemed to go belly up over the past couple of years. But there's no-one else who really jumps out at you from the Phillies system. I would actually want Gio back if we were getting a pitching prospect, and it's not Floyd or Hamels.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Sarcasm... I hope at least. I don't think it was. Willie can still put up around a .340 OBP, which makes him a valuable bench player, but Loretta could hit .300 easily at Fenway and get on base more then Harris would. Very underrated trade that Boston made getting Loretta for Mirrabelli wasn't it (who ironically the Pads don't really need that much now since they have Mike Piazza).
  3. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 06:12 AM) For the Bulls? Nah. How much money would we have been paying him and tyson to do the same thing?? Sadly, only one of them would be coming close to earning their pay... If you could have a C/PF combo who could get double - double's, and pick up about 3 blocks a game, I'm sure a lot of teams would like to have that. Although I've always rated Dalembert higher then most. He seems to be pickin it up in Philly over the past few weeks. And maybe it's time they thought about moving Iverson too. They've shown they can definitely live without him the past couple of games.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) The only thing I think that has no chance of happening is Batista having a good season he is going to suck horribly everything else I wouldnt be surprised with... but Id bet Silva takes a step back although still be good.... and Liriano/Baker being rookies are going to be inconsistent if not consistently bad......a course they can be the next Haren/Blanton but they both were kind of inconsistent although at times were awesome too. I still think the Twinkies rotation will be better in 2006 though. They're subtracting Lohse and Mays who had ERA's of 4.18 and 5.65 respectively. Baker had a 3.35 ERA in about 6 or 7 starts, and Liriano could be another Santana, even though he may initally struggle depending on how many hits he gives up (19 hits in 23.2IP, with 15 scoring (also only 7BB's)). It should be interesting to see how they do without J.C Romero as well, and Mulholland ain't there either, so there's 2 lefties gone, even though Gardenhire did use Mulholland way too much.
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) Are you a mathematician? Statistician? I hate you. I hate you so, so very much. "No..... I'm a MATHEMAGICIAN!!!! Now watch me make this remainder, disappear!!!!"
  6. Is Floyd a better prospect then Cole Hamels right now?
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) I take the 26 year old over the likely 40+ year old anyday of the week, especially when you look at Zito's consistancy. He was comparing both their performances from the 2nd half of last year, not who'd you take, because I'm sure most people would rather hav Zito for the obvious reasons.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) ^^ ^^^. But alas, the Twinkies really also need to hope that whoever plays RF for them, whether it's Cuddyer, Kubel etc., can perform adequately enough. And my thoughts on Tony Batsita put simply, is the guy will make so many outs, does it really matter if he can hit 15-20 HR's?
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) Crede is fastly becoming the most popular player on the team. Is that the power of the Rally Crede working it's never ending magic? Possibly, I'd imagine the noise would just increase in decibals if he dumped Bora$$ though.
  10. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) Anderson has not. Anderson/Owens represent an unknown defensively at the position. If you've read about Brian Anderson and his defensvie capabilities on these boards, the one thing you WON'T have to worry about for him in 2006 will be his defense. All we're hoping for is that he can around .270, and basically do what Rowand did last year offensively, maybe with a little more pop.
  11. At this stage, I'd probably say Munoz. But I wouldn't still rule out a trade. A team like Seattle who had 4 lefties in the majors in 2005, could be a possible trading partner.
  12. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Looks like Aucoin is out hurt yet again... this time its a seperated shoulder...Hawks have called up Jim Wisniewski. Aucoin would be hoping like hell to get the hell out of Chicago the way things have gone for him here. And hell if they are gonna trade for Raycroft (give up Arny, but I'm still leery on giving up Bell), they might as well trade Khabi and Aucoin and get some 1st and 2nd round picks, and keep rebuilding, cos it's clear as hell, this veteran talent ain't doin s***.
  13. You know who would be perfect for you guys? Sam Dalembert.
  14. Can we already say worst record next season? Imagine that defense without Jim Bates. Yikes.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Oh noes! He'll give away our secrets! How to sit on your ass for $1M dollars?
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) Me, Krush, addy, and snb all got a standing ovation walking through soxfest too, so that was fun. No they were all actually laughing at you dude.
  17. Felix at this stage do you feel that Jon Garland has done in his career then Contreras at this stage, and is he a better pitcher?
  18. And right now if you're discussing which is the better trade scenario, I think if the Mets offered Milledge and Heilman, that would be hard for the Phillies to beat, even if they included Madson in a deal, they'd also have to offer someone like Gavin Floyd IMHO.
  19. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 04:40 AM) IMO the best deal would be Carlos Beltran and some pitching prospect for Count straight up... XBOX Trade!!!!!
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) I told people just to have a little patience with Tyson. Hammerhead and Qwerty were also big time Chandler backers. I loved those Curry vs. Chandler debates. Those were the days.
  21. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Dunn 8 days a week. Not even close really. I gather you're not a fan of the Jim Thome acquisition from a few threads we've had discussing the issue. What are your expectations for the numbers he'll put up for us in 2006?
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) I thought "vacuum" as well. You know what blows.......
  23. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) If Thome puts up his healthy numbers the next two seasons or so without a big decline I would actually argue Thome because his offense would be slightly better than Dunn's. Thome can be the #3 hitter we were missing last season. Dunn really isn't a #3 hitter. Over the long-term, I would much rather have Dunn though. That's why it would be an interesting argument. Do you want the guy who could potentially produce better numbers over the next 2 to 3 years, or do you want to guy who could continue to improve and you would control for longer?
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Thome will be able to hit sac flies and not ALWAYS strike out at the worst time possible though. I would imagine Thome's average will be significantly better than Dunn's as well. Right now if you were the White Sox all things being equal, would you rather have Adam Dunn or Jim Thome?
