And I think Garner knew how important last night's game was. With Backe and an unfit Roger Clemens on the mound for games 4 and 5, last night was really the game the Astros had to win. And they had plenty of chances too. It's just they couldn't get a hit at all after the 8th, even though they were handed plenty of free passes. Wouldn't you be annoyed with your offense if the White Sox did that last night?

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) OK then. Makes perfect sense now. I'm all for it. As long as we don't have to give up Cotts. Neal's definitely going nowhere. Especially if Marte goes, we definitely need at least 1 good lefty out of the pen, and young players like Cotts who are very affordable and post good numbers, are important to hang onto.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Wouldn't trading for Cintron be a diss to either Uribe or Gooch? I think Cintron would be used as the major utility guy, which were originally the plans for Uribe when we were going after Vizquel.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Marte for Cintron huh? Meh, sounds ok, but I woul rather get a better piece. The guy usually kills us though. Yeah right team, but the wrong player. Although I think Marte could be used as part of a larger package.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I can't read the article, but here's the Rotoworld snippet; http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=51473

QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) and they're playing their best. That can't be right.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Blum may be a Ryan Cabrera lookalike, but I love the fact that we had all these posters saying "We visited the trading deadline and all we got was this lousy Geoff Blum" Man, anything KW has touched has turned to platinum. Yep looks like all of those posts saying "This offense isn't good enough to win a world series" just after the deadline when we didn't get Griffey were for naught huh?

Thanks for the advice guys. I will be taking quite a few baths this week, put in some calomine lotion I think so hopefully that will help, and some cream on the spots so hopefully they don't get too itchy. But they are spreading very quickly unfortunately.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) I would rather the Sox close it out quickly and not give Houston any signs of life.... Especially with Pettite and Oswalt for games 6 and 7. Just win the thing.

QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) blah blah blah. garner's a bum. i remember him whining and b****ing for the cameras when oswalt flat out beaned crede too. nobody likes a sore loser, garner! So a bum's a guy who gets his team into the world series?

Wow I can't believe this is actually upon us here. Let's go out and do this. Brandon Backe. The bad news is he's a MUCH better pitcher at homer with a 6-2 record with a 3.41 ERA. His walks are more than halved in home games too. Not much of a difference b/w righties and lefties, but righties hit him slightly better at .266. He was better after the ASB with a 3.92 ERA but only pitched 7 starts. He's TERRIBLE with any type of runner on at all, a 7.56 ERA with runners on, and then it gets worse, so that's going to be a big key. He's not a good starter either like Freddy with ERA's of 4.42, 4.29 and 10.08 from pitch counts 1-15, 16-30, 31-45. And our hitters have not faced him much at all, with Konerko the most AB's at 3. Let's hope that's not a bad thing. We need just 1 more guys, go out there, keep doing what you've been doing, especially on the offensive end, and execute.

I'll say it for Heads. Where's Josh?
-
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) Oswalt threw tons of junk early on but he really looked lost out there at times. Yeah that fastball didn't have the same jump as the St. Louis game, so he was really forced to go to the breaking stuff. And eventually our hitters got used to it, and we got onto him.

QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) marte needs to stay, i don't know how old he is but i doubt we will end up with a better lefty than him, cotts is better but vizcaino does not cut it for me... i don't see us getting fuentes PS uribe for mvp Scott Eyre's a FA. He's probably going to get a nice 3 year deal though.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) For trading in the offseason. Milwaukee how you doing. More like Arizona excuse me.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Ugh that's terrible! Be careful and take it easy--I know it can get really bad and serious in adults. Make the fam wait on you hand and foot. My sister won't go within 10m of me, and no-one else is really enthuiastic to get me near me either. No-one's ever had it in our family before, so I can see why. But it's plenty of bed rest and lotion for the next week.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) So I hate having migraines and a mild case of the flu when the Sox are on and end of year exams starting in 1 week. Oh and a cute photo of the cat there Soxy. Updating, I have Pox, Chicken Pox. So the next week is gonna be loads of fun fighting the urge to scratch, scratch, scratch.

My money's on the Mets to really overpay here;

Models replacing ball boys at madrid masters...

I'm sure they started this 1 year ago. Apparently, one of the players Ivan Lbujicic had a run in with a ball girl in the semi's a couple of days ago. -
Ok so it's Roy Oswalt we're up against. 12-2 with a 2.58 ERA in home games with a lower BAA and less ER, but he gave up 6 more home runs in home games, so he's susceptible to it, and hopefully we can take advantage of that. Since the ASB, Roy wasn't that good though. Had a 3.65 ERA with his BAA was .296, .62 higher than Pre ASG, so that also gives me hope. Lefties hit him better, with a .279 AVG, .32 higher than righties, and without Everett in the lineup, we're gonna need Pods and A.J especially to have good swings with the bat. He's terrible with RISP with 2 outs, 15.75 ERA, so hopefully that situation comes up a few times, and even if you get a runner on, a 4.68 ERA, so that's going to be a key, get on base anyway possible. He's pretty even ERA wise with his pitch counts, but with most pitchers you seem them better in the middle of their starts, say the 4th -5th inning etc., not really the case for Oswalt even though he's still pretty good. Up past 91 pitches, the ERA shoots up, so we need to work the counts and make him throw a lot of pitches.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Start timo and his 1.524 ops off of oswalt. If they do, I'll come personally over to Chicago and hit you for saying that.

Most of us thought Buerhlehad a problem in the 2nd half with his arm, with all of the innings he's pitched throughout the season etc. so this doesn't really suprise me. Let's just hope he can pitch, and pitch well, if needed.
