QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) You cant criticize the great Jon Garland either. You're 1 year too late.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) If the Bears are the worst team in the league I will not post for 2 months after football season. Oh how stupid people are. Ya the Bears are really going to get worse by 2 W's after adding Moose, Url, Zoom, Tillman, Benson, Orton, Bradley, a healthy Ogun, Miller, and Garza... Of course injuries could happen again this year, and it's not like Urlacher missed the whole season. Is Bradley going to be a difference maker straight away? These are the type of questions the Bears need to answer.
-
The 49ers would be looking at that and, well....... yeah. Yeah the Bears defense is great, would you say the Bears would have the 2nd worst offense if football only ahead of San Fran. at the moment though? They'd be possily better than Miami, and Washington.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Remember how the Twins sent Santana to the minors to specifically work on his change? Did McCarthy have to do something like that? Yep, that's probably why you saw in his 1st few appearances back for Charlotte he had more walks than usual. I'd still have him learn a cutter in the off-season though, to get some more movement on that fastball.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Brandon-- I love you. Soxy He's still invited to your kitchen at anytime right Soxy (at Ross Gload's expense of course).

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) Money talks, and you know what walks. How many players (Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina come to mind) said they would never play for New York, and look what happens. They bend over and take it in the cash. PK is probably gone. The Dodgers are another possibility. Ok let's have a look at those teams. Yankees - Giambi has rebounded, and they may keep Martinez around for another year because he's a BIG fan favorite. Mets - Mike Jacobs has come up and absolutely pulverized the ball. Their #1 FA target is Hernandez from the Padres anyways. Red Sox - The team that makes the most sense. Will depend on what they do with Manny this off-season though. No-one thought Sexson would go to Seattle, some team could sneak in and get Konerko besides those big teams. Someone like Baltimore (although yes they're near the east coast), the team I've mentioned, or my sleeper the Toronto Blue Jays.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) It wouldn't surprise me to see Konerko go back to the Dodgers. I know Lasorda loves him, and they don't seem very high on Choi. Yeah that wouldn't suprise me, and I'd love to see Jeff Kent coming back the other way, but that won't happen. A team like the Padres could enter the bidding as well, especially if they lose Brian Giles.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) your point would be valid if BMac ever had good numbers in the minors. The only time he has ever been good is the three week stretch in spring training. Adding onto last year's wonderful numbers in 3 different stops (which was the whole reason he was starting in spring training in the 1st place), McCarthy has something like a 2 ERA in a hitter's paradise down in Charlotte since he was last demoted. Add that onto the 130/32 K/BB ratio.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:47 AM) I don't suspect Paulie will be back next year with the :puke Yanks and :puke Red Cubs likely to throw a ton of money at him. This is fine because I would never overpay for Paulie. That being said, Gload could be the starting 1B next year. If this is a possibility, I would like to see him having more opportunity to prove himself. Konerko has stated recently he doesn't want to go play for an East Coast Team because he doesn't want to live there. That cuts the Mets, Yankees and Red Sox out of the bidding. And I doubt Gload will be back next season, if he has a choice.

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) Trust me, there will be all sorts of rumors about the Sox trading Contreras in the off-season. However, he's not going anywhere right now. Nor he should with the way he's pitched since the Trade Deadline. And there'll be interest in him this off-season, don't worry about that. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) There is a very good reason for this. They want to be able to have Bajenaru for game one in the pen. If they recall McCarthy for game one, then they can't use Baj for either game. At least this way they have a spare pitcher for one of the games, and Garland pitching game one instead of game two makes this possible. Yep, might as well get some innings up from Baj while he's here, to keep the pen fresh, so guys like Politte can rest their arms a little, and hopefully get their velocity back to where it was earlier in the season. And he looked pretty good last night.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) I REALLY wish I had time to get down and see one of his last starts. As I've said before, I was underwhelmed last year in Kanny and would really like to see how he looks now because it's tough to argue with his success. In 1-2 months he may have vaulted from somewhere around 20 on the prospect list to the bottom of the top 10. That's pretty darn impressive. And he adds to the list of impressive lefty starters we have developing in our system, and that will probably only be better next season when Lumsden starts pitching again, and if Whisler can actually learn how to pitch better with his stuff. Gonzalez, Liotta, McCarthy, Haigwood is a very nice foursome though. When you add to that guys like Haegar, Tracey, Brooks and even Honel, it shows how far our system with starters has come from 2 years ago. EDIT: Add Broadway to that foursome. I should know, he's in my sig.

Maybe they want some momentum heading into the 2nd game....

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Or even Ray Liotta, sube 2 ERA on the season now and outstanding this last month or two. Yeah you could, although his K/BB ratios compared to Haigwood and B-Mac in the 2nd half aren't as good, plus he's pitching in the lowest league. Randar was right about B-Mac though, he's been great in Charlotte since he worked out his issues. But you can't help be impressed with what Haigwood's done, since being promoted to B-Ham, his numbers have been wonderful.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Kevin Jones was having a great season last year 2 in the 2nd half especially.... One think Kevin Jones has that Julius though is a good offense around him. In Dallas they are going to be more worried about the run than the pass... and in Detroit it will be the other way around which makes it easier for Kevin Jones to run. Yeah but Dallas still have some weapons on offense. Jason Witten is a top 4 TE in the league, and Terry Glenn will be very damaging with Drew Bledsoe if he doesn't get injured. Glenn and Bledsoe have a good continuity b/w them.

Shouldn't it be "Fook"?

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Is Haigwood the next Mark Buerhle? He is pitching phenominal in AA. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_jaxaax_1 Very well could be, he's been the minor league 2nd half best player without a doubt.
-
I think by the end of the season people are going to be talking about Julius Jones as if he's a Franchise back IF he can stay healthy. He was on pace for about 1700 yards last season if he didn't get injured.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Jeff Bajenaru has relieved Buehlre. I know some of you are praying for a 123 inning. Anything less and I'LL RAISE HELL. Gonna raise hell still Flash?
