  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Buehrle vs. Cabrera Sorry to whoever started the other game thread, but you just don't mess with a good thing, I've started the first three, now I'm going for the sweep. RIP EMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thread Hog.
  2. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) I would have Anderson or Leighton replace him...yes not great but TBo gets a lot weaker as the season goes on. Either that or find a goalie in FA market to replace him. Anderson or Leighton haven't shown they can handle being "the man", the fulltime goalie if you will. And there's not many good FA goalies out there, besides the Bulin Wall who's gonna get a max offer from someone. At least now by keeping T-Bo, if he does go down, we've got 2 very capable backups.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) the return of Honel... or at least I hope so Now all we need is for Ryan Wing to get back to form.
  4. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) They should have offered Berard and not offered TBlow....thats just me though... The problem is who replaces T-Bo in that situation, plus you can easily sign a defenseman to replace Berard.
  5. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Guys like Aucoin or Rafalski are coveted players and it's not like the Hawks can say, well lets just go get a top tier defenseman with great offensive skills. Berard is what he is, and if paired with the right type of D-man (Vandermeer), he would probably thrive. Not as much as other defenseman on the market like Niedermeyer, Pronger etc. The Hawks have targeted Aucoin, and I think they'll get him.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Than your expecting 2 much Maybe, but when he averages 10.1/8.3/1.76 post ASG, and 11.6/12.8/1.4, you can see the improvement he made, once O'Bie actually decided to start playing him, and to his strengths.
  7. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) I'd like to hear the Eddy-haters/dalembert-blowers say he's really worth that much... I think we'll see Dalembert perform adequately well enough without Jim O' Brien on the sidelines. 15 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks a game is what I expect.
  8. QUOTE(Yoda @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 07:31 AM) http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb A lefty with a nice 2.45 ERA. I wonder why the Sox never talked about trying to acquire him... Wow Vargas for Eyre? No wonder the Giants didn't trade any of their players.
  9. There's that "clutch" hitting of Konerko's.
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 05:51 AM) No they don't. Cardinals finally have pitching to at least matchup with Houston. Houston's offense(as hot as it is) doesn't stand a chance against the Cards. Cards would whoop our ass in the World Series. It would be very similar to Red Sox vs. Cards last year. Might as well just not show up at all then I guess.
  11. QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) he blows, get over it, he is not getting another chance. Stop yourself. Now this I laugh at.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) I'm just saying that I think our farm system could afford to give these guys up, and not lose a step. As much as I'd be willing to trade him, losing McCarthy would be a much bigger blow to the farm system. Also, our 3 young stud outfielders give us a huge trade chip this offseason. It's not like we don't have outfielders at the MLB level we're looking to replace. I've got absolutely no problem at all including Anderson in a deal. He's got the least upside out of any of the 3, and it's likely Pods, Rowand and Dye are going to be around for a while yet. And yeah Gonzalez is expendable, I think he'll be a good one, but we've got good SP depth in the minors now. A guy like Tyler Lumsden for example, could move quickly still like J.P Howell IF he stays healthy once he gets back from his current injury.
  13. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) I don't think that's true. Although Lamar is a moron asking the moon. Everyone knows he won't pick up the option on Huff next year. They need younger players and getting rid of Huff brings in young players and saves $7.5 million. I could see a deal around Anderson and Gio. Both would go if we got both Huff and Baez, only one would go if we got Huff probably adding a Valido or something. There's no option for next year for Huff;
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) I wouldn't mind that trade at all. No baseball scouts I've talked to project Fields as a solid MLB hitter right now. And for some reason, as much as Gio seems like he's going to be a star....I just get visions of another Arnie Munoz. We'll need to see how Gio performs in AA and possibly AAA next season to give us a clearer picture of his future, but the likes of Kris Honel and Ryan Wing have dominated in A ball before getting stuck at B-Ham. I still like Gio as a Zito pitcher, and I think he'll turn out to be a similar version. Fields is interesting though. He's turned it around, and with the way Upton has been playing defense in the minors, it's a logical fit. Can he hit above say .250-.260 though? I don't know.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Just saw where the Score is reporting it's Huff or bust right now, with McCarthy not being involved in the deal. There's not a chance in hell we get Huff without giving up BMac. I'm calling your bluff with Josh Fields, Gio Gonzalez and a PTBNL.
  16. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) where's anthrax? In Anaheim trying to defend Orlando Cabrera's contract to the locals.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) As for the Cell being better for righties than lefties.....is there any proof to that? I think it's just perception dealing from the fact the Sox are much stronger from the right side of the plate. I found this from Baseball Effect from a Feb article; But your point is taken though, so it'll be interesting to see how Huff can do hitting at the Cell, compared to a Jermaine Dye over a full season for example, because they both hav similar power.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) He is a known second half player. He is notorious for his 1st half slumps. Check out his career numbers and you will see what you can expect in the 2nd half. Get over his first half numbers because they don't mean s***. And let's hope that continues (if we do trade for him). Does that mean it's going to be a guarantee he'll do it again though? No, but there's definitely a good chance he will.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) As an overall hitter.....no doubt in my mind. He has an OPS of almost .75 to .100 lower than Konerko or Dye, and only 17 doubles with 2 triples, while Dye has 15 doubles and Konerko has 14, not much of a difference at all. Now Huff's stats should pick up a little from hitting at the Cell instead of Dome, but remember, it's a more favorable ball park for RH power hitters than LH power hitters.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) And Huff would be the best player at any of those 5 positions you say he'd back-up. You're saying that even though Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko have better power numbers, and that Scott Podsednik is one of the best lead-off hitters in baseball, you'd still prefer Aubrey Huff to any of em?
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Inaccuracies run amok in this post. Is Huff the player who's hit 8 home runs this month, or the one who's hit 5 in the 1st 3 though? Something to consider.
  22. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Thank goodness you aren't the GM. I've heard that before.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Where's my Huff? Here he is; EDIT: Work you stupid picture. Ahh screw it. It was a Huff Movie pic.
  24. I'm sure Mr. Bora$$ is devastated.
