QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Baez's numbers arent all that good. For what Lamar is asking I wouldnt go for it. I would rather make a pitch for Overbay from the Brewers. Probably because he's had to pitch more than 1 inning to get his saves since the D-Rays pen is so bad (we all remember what that did to Shingo last season). And Overbay's just a pipe dream really (it'd have to be an insane offer for Doug Melvin to accept). We might as well wait to the off-season when he and Chad Tracy will both likely be available.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) In looking at the DRays minor league guys, they only have one guy with more than 4 saves higher than low A--30 yr old Lee Gardner with 11 in AAA. A guy like Jenks would have to be attractive in a deal. I was reading an article on the D-Rays yesterday and IIRC Piniella and Lamar seem convinced now that if the D-Rays can upgrade the pen like the Sox did this off-season, they'll be a much better ball - club next season. Someone like Jeff Bajenaru would make ideal sense to them along with say Marte and Tracey for Danys Baez (and that's probably a minimum price that Lamar is asking for).

QUOTE(Chuck's cuz @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Ok..my bad yall...my bad..he did pitch..got a no decision. I really do not like reading the Barons' website..it sorta sucks!!! Thanks BHAMBARONS for the update on your board. Keep up the good work. I only get to talk to him about once a week, so I have to rely on the internet to keep me updated..sucks!!! :banghead Anyhow, I was wrong everyone! yes..I admit it!!! lol Yeah I wouldn't rely on the Barons web-site for much, although in saying that the minorleaguebaseball one was WOEFUL at the start of the season, although it's improved a lot since then.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) Didn't Polanco go on the DL recently? He was back playing yesterday IIRC.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Great Falls had a DH, losing game 1 4-1. Rodriguez with HR #7. Box Score Game 2 went to the Sox 6-4. Tartaglia and Rodriguez 2 hits each. Allen with HR #8. Richard with the start, 2 innings, nothing great. Nik Lemon went 3 perfect innings with 7 Ks to earn the save. Box Score Lemon's been on a mini roll lately. Hopefully he keeps it up (It must be beacuse Cheat's disappeared.)

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) I know he did pretty well against big league pitching, but minor league experts keep talking about his raise in power in return for a lot more strikeouts. Think Corey Patterson. They wanted him to be a leadoff type guy and is value is highest as such, but his strikeouts are alarming. I think they want him to work on that before bringing him up for an extended period. He had 5 Ks in 22 at-bats, not horrible, but he had 112 in AAA. Detroit's only what 4 or 5 games out of the wild card though. Getting Maggs back into that lineup has made it far more dangerous, and having Granderson hitting #8 made it a whole lot more deeper. Yeah he needs to work on cutting down the K's, but with the Tiggies still in it, I dunno how they can justify having Nook Logan and his 4 extra base hits and 2 RBI in over a month and a half. They've got Polanco leading off anyway, and they have Brandon Inge as well. Granderson probably should be hitting more in the middle of the order.

Sweeney's up to .289 now, my guess is he'll be above .300 by the end of the season. Fields and Owens both had 2 walks, good signs there. My worry with Owens is that he may not have an everyday spot in the lineup for the Knights next season, like Mike Spidale, depending if Anderson repeats AAA and if Borch is back (not very likely) or Chris Young moves up to AA. I don't think that'll be the case though. The Haegermeister with 7 K's, but 4 BB's as well. He has a 3.48 ERA in 5 games for the Barons now, tonight was probably his best outing for B-Ham in terms of K's.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) f*** b mac... from watching him, he wont ever be anything in the MLB... hes afraid to throw his change and he sucks. I'm sorry but this is one of the worst posts I've ever seen in my just over 2 years here. Can you tell me why from what a half dozen appearances at the age of 21?
-
B-Ham currently winning 3-2 in the top of the 7th. Meaux's pitching. Winston - Salem lost 8-6. Valido with 4 RBI's and 2 hits, Mike Spidale leading off had 2 hits. Rodriguez started, fairly good start giving up 3 ER in 6IP with 1 BB and 7 K's. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...wswafx_potafx_1 Kanny's game got postponed because of rain, so no Brooks tonight, which is dissappointing. Bristol lost 9-6. Cunningham 2 for 3 with 2 walks leading off, another good night for him. Sanchez 0 for 2, now down to .238. Cortes started gave up 7ER in 2IP. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...brirok_jcyrok_1

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) I love Cruz. I wanted this guy to be our starting CFer in 2003. Sort of a blessing in disguise he wasn't, else, we probably would not have Rowand. We got no room for him in the next 5 years in all likelyhood, and I don't like him as much as I did back then...but he will start. Colorado should call him up and see if that park can resurrect another career. All likelihood he's headed to the Yankees as their new CF, but hell he'd be much better than Timo as a 4th outfielder / DH guy, and he's a lefty hitter. Just throwing out the possibility.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Not the Bears at MLB..... Unless that guy actually reaches double figures in games this season. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) You're probably right - Benson will probably be starting week 4 at this rate. And the Bears want to get a good jump out of the blocks, having Thomas Jones as the RB probably won't help their chances much.
-
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Kwok. Or Peach Morte Subite. I don't even drink, but maybe if I lived in Belgium it would be a different story. . . Belgium is my spiritual beer homeland--must make pilgrimage. Belgium Beer = My favorite would have to be the Leffe Blonde (I'll let Jim the beer expert explain further if he wishes).

A bit too late for movies such as In The Name of the Father;
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) Why? It matters least for RB's Because with each day of training camp that passes, Thomas Jones becomes more entrenched as the opening day starter. And Benson needs to be working on things like his pass blocking in TC as well.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) If they were trading Overbay it would be to make room for Fielder, it wouldn't make any sense to trade for Morneau, no? Unless it was a 3 team deal.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Last I checked Cedric Benson is holding out.... Yep, and if he's smart he will sign ASAP.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) ..... unless Morneau was sent to Milwaukee in the Overbay deal. Well if I was Ryan I'd be asking Doug Melvin not to do that.
-
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Wait another week or two on Crede. We've seen him pull this crap before. 3 months this season hitting above .275, and an OPS over .818 in those months.
