  1. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) If he had overbay and we wearnt in the division there would be a chance Yes, but we are so there's no use in speculating about it.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) I never saw so many guys sub 260. Scott Podsednik - .302 Aaron Rowand - .291 Tadahito Iguchi - .277 Jermaine Dye - .268 Pablo Ozuna - .290 (not regular) Chris Widger - .282 (not regular) Just under; Carl Everett - .259 Paul Konerko - .258 A.J Pierzynski - .255 Joe Crede - .253
  3. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) If the twins got overbay and I were KW id be on the phone right away trying to get morneau Except there's no way Terry Ryan is gonna to do that one.
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) And, rumor has it they are signing Pronger tomorrow. And... oh nevermind... just wait and see. Any rumors on who the Hawks are signing Kap (bout time you use your sources here).
  5. By the D-Backs, a back injury pretty much screwed up his hitting; He had these splits early on; APRIL - .294/.400/.706 MAY - .254/.389/.525
  6. QUOTE(JoeH33 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) From Bob Nightengale of the USA Today: The Twins, down on first baseman Justin Morneau, were in negotiations with the Brewers for first baseman Lyle Overbay Looks like there may be some competition for Lyle from the Twins. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/bbw/columni...ghtengale_x.htm Which is stupid, because Morneau's going to be a great player, and he's been turning it around recently.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Very nice to see Bmac starting to get himself back on track. I wonder if he's regaining confidence in his change(which is a good pitch)? That's what he should be workin on, oh and developing a cutter.
  8. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) The one player I would hope for to be cut lose..which I doubt that would be perfect for the Hawks is Keith Tkachuk The Blues are keeping Tkachuk and Weight (that suprises me) and getting rid of Pronger. That's over $10 million in salaries for those 2 players right there.
  9. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:45 AM) We'll see how Culpepper does without Randy Moss; I think they'll finish below #15 in offense. No Smith, No Moss. Not too mention how often get Bennett gets hurt. Culpepper is a good QB, but he isnt good enough to win a division with a rookie as his #1. The Defense on that team was terrible. No matter what you say. They were piss-poor, 2 good players. They still have 2. Smoot is solid, Sharper is too old, Pat Williams can only play 1/2 the downs. Not to mention they have one of the worst LB trios in the league. I wouldn't count Smith as an important part of that offense. Bennett at his best is the best RB on that team, and even if he does go down, they can plug in Meweldi Moore or Ciarick Fason. Williamson isn't going to be the #1 receiver on that team, they've got Burlison, Taylor etc. to start. Who cares if Williams only plays 1/2 the downs if he's a top 5 run stuffer in the league which is what he's being PAID to do.
  10. Because Chuck LaMar is the D-Rays GM, this prob ain't gonna happen. And Lou Piniella would go crazy too.

    Tigers

    They just sent down Curtis Granderson and kept Nook Logan as the everyday CF. Idiots.
  12. B-Mac's great outing today for Charlotte probably helped seal the deal. They're going to have a stud rotation in a few years with Willis, Beckett, Olson, McCarthy and Vargas, if this does go down. Here are Lowell's splits; HOME - .241/.318/.371 AWAY - .228/.251/.354 LEFTY - .343/.395/.557 RIGHTY - .205/.255/.310 JULY - .296/.346/.465 That he sucks against righties and has hit better home at Pro Player (a real pitcher's park) than away, is not good. Not good at all.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) danman31 is a guy.....
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) 4 walks for Bmac. That I don't like. 2 ER given up in his last 3 outings, that I do like. (Oh and the 8 K's)
  15. Is Pierzynski still arbitration eligible for 2006?
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) You guys seriously don't get it. This is for if we make it to the playoffs, Ozzie will have the flexibility/confidence to go to any one of his guys to get whatever job done. If you guys seriously think Ozzie would plug all these guys in at once in a playoff game, you're simply f***tarded. Ozzie's just trying to keep his guys fresh, if they're going to be on this roster. The question needs to be asked, do you want your guys to be tired now or in October when it counts? IIRC we don't have many rest days in September either.
  17. Don't forget how important the bullpen has been in getting us to where we are today. Taking a Politte away from it, would signifcantly hurt it, unless a closer like Wagner was brought in. It's not always easy to find a reliever to step in and fill a role for you though. Have a look at Steve Kline. Had a great season in St. Louis last year, and he's just had a terrible year in Baltimore.
  18. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) i was at the brewers game yesterday and overbay hit a homer and singled, he seems to make contact and hit the ball better konerko but i still dont get where we would put him, and thats the problem when you have a full infield and everett also as a DH possibility. cragi was right brewers fans loved him there, every time he stepped up to the plate they all held up big O's or made one with their arms and kept saying O constantly. We could use another lefty power bat the only problem is where to put him and what to do when a guy like frank thomas gets back, i guess my only question is, can he play third or would we plan to put konerko at third like the padres putting nevin to catcher? No Overbay can't play third. Chad Tracy however........... (damn I've been saying that a lot lately).
  19. If taking on Griffey's contract was funny enough, well I'm rolling on the floor laughing about someone taking on Manny's.
  20. Ok so tomorrow (well no it's really later today), I go schmoozing with HR executives from Accounting and Finance Companies from around here. Luckily there's a huge demand for accountants at the moment (glad I didn't choose Information Technology after all), but still I need to get some vacation work this summer, and hopefully this is the start of me putting my foot in the door.
  21. QUOTE(Big Hurt Way Back @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) I'm just wondering what the hell is so great about lyle pverbay. I mean come on you guys talk about him tlike hes the best firstbaseman in the league. he's no supersatr and honestly i could name 10 to 15 better than him. Can anyone explain their madness!!! Ok name em (and don't forget bang for your buck here).
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) Wirtz won't pony up what Pronger wants. Come on now. What teams will offer him a max deal under this new cap? Pronger and Scotty Niedermeyer are both looking for it, and I'm not so sure they'll get it, unless it's a team that currently has a low payroll and is looking to upgrade e.g The Thrashers and Blackhawks.
  23. Gload's not going to hit that good over a whole season. At best, we're looking at a little worse version of J.T Snow.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Is Politte signed beyond this season? Maybe the thinking is Jenks could take Politte's role. Politte has been awesome this season, I thought he should have been an All Star, however, I would not be surprised if he starts getting touched up soon. Also, maybe this is also tied into possibly acquiring Baez. Who knows other than KW. There are going to be a ton of rumors, some with some truth some with none, until trades are made or the deadline passes. He has a team option for next season at about $1.3 million. For such a good reliever at this price, I can't justify including him in a Burnett deal (especially if A.J's a rental).
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) True...I'm iffy on Griffey (you know you like that rhyme ), but I'd consider him more of a need for this club over Burnett. I just do not see Burnett making us better. Burnett makes us deeper in our rotation, however is the need for a good #4 starter in the playoffs that important over a stud pitching prospect who could be in our rotation for a good 5 to 10 years (if he's not rushed) and one of our best set-up men? I'd say no, and go after Vizquel, Schmidt or Wagner, and a lefty LOOGY like Villone or Eyre if the price is right.
