  1. Alright time to get on Wakefield.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) 1) would cincy take Konerko? Supposedly Casey is on the block. That is where I had him going, not SF. Maybe a 3 way deal with someone that wants either Konerko or Casey? 2) who cares? Cincy may eat a little of it to move him. 3) That sounds great to me. DO IT!!!!!!! 1) Can't see the Reds wanting Konerko unless they can unload Casey which is doubtful, and they don't have much in replacements for Konerko if he leaves as a FA anyway. 2) I'll post the contract. 9-Year worth 116.5M- he will make between 2000 and 2008 a salary of 12.5M each year- + in 2000, 5.5M of salary deferred till 2009- + deal includes 2009 Team Option or a 4M buyout- + 6.5M of 2001-2009 salaries deferred to subsequent years between 2009 and 2024 3) It depends on Sabean's likeness for Contreras and Uribe. But is KW ready to give up on Juan already after signing him to a 3 year deal in the off-season?
  3. 1) San Francisco won't want Paul Konerko since they already have J.T Snow and Lance Niekro. 2) Ken Griffey Jr. has a deferred contract that requires payments until 2025. That's a no. 3) Contreras, Uribe and a good prospect (maybe even 2) for Schmidt and Vizquel is probably going to be around the mark.
  4. I'm just gonna merge this with the London thread, since I already posted this.
  5. Welcome aboard to SoxTalk, you'll probably find Haegar has something of a cult following around here, since he's a knuckleballer. Hopefully he keeps kickin ass down at B-Ham, and we see him up on the big club one day.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) That best record in baseball thing only goes so far. I would have hated to seen what kind of picture you would have posted last season.
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) After all the BS he has said, what would it be like for him to report to Eagles training camp? Worse than Ricky situation? It's not really a usual holdout is it. What about Javon Walker even?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Lamarr is completelly clueless it seems. Opposing GM's apparently will just not work with him at all because of his demands. Really got feel sorry for Lou Piniella.
  9. The Latrell Spreewell effect has rubbed off. And looked how that worked out.
  10. Little piece here from the Southtown;
  11. Suspect has been shot;
  12. If you complain about the Sox's offense, how would you feel being a Twins fan right now?
  13. Charlotte lost 10-7. Diaz gave up 4 ER, and then so did the almighty Kevin Walker. Borch was 3 for 5 and Anderson 2 for 4 with a walk though. Warthogs lost 5-4 on a rained out game. Collaro and Hinton both had 2 hits, Noah Hall's got nice splits after hitting his 19th homer today, .335/.461/.635 with a 55 BB/46 K ratio. Another Daigle? Great Falls won 5-1. Cheat's man Nick Lemon won his 1st game of the year pitching 1 scoreless inning in relief. Paul Moviel started and gave up 1 ER in 7 IP with 1 BB and 8 K's. Impressive. Francisco Hernandez homered for his 5th of the year, he's hitting .314 now.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Micah's on pace for what, a 40 error season? Perfect DH material then.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Am I the only one who prays that we don't get Burnett? We'd give up a ton for someone who I don't think would make a huge difference. It depends if he goes Carl Pavano on us which is a legiminate possibility and then of course there's the contract.
  16. This was bound to happen to Iguchi, except at the start of the season we all thought he was going to start out slowly and then turn it around, it's been the opposite. Let's have a look at some numbers here for Iguchi; Iguchi - .270/.332/.410/.740 (4th in OPS for qualified AL 2B) Belliard - .275/.316/.407/.723 (7th) Boone - .228/.292/.366/.659 (9th) Polanco - .324/.402/.448/.849 (4th in OPS for non qualified AL 2B) Gotay - .244/.304/.370/.674 He's hitting .204 this month, but is he going to keep that up for the rest of the season? No. So in short, he's not going anywhere, and he's not getting replaced. And if we did trade for somebody to replace him, who would that be considering the lack of quality second baseman out there?
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) If they get this crazy stud guy I will actually watch hockey. I know all of you care Absolutely. My life has changed forever. The Rangers win somehow will the lottery, they'll want hockey to be big in NY again.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) I hate Alex Gonzalez with a passion too. He's got A. Rowand syndrome, where he'll chase any slider out of the zone with 2 strikes. Furcal would be interesting, but he'll get a lot of money from a big market team. With Gonzalez's stats this season and him being a real Ozzie favorite, I tend to think he's the guy we'll go after if its a SS (unless we get Vizquel). Of course that makes Uribe into a utility player and the Sox have gotta decide whether or not he's worth it at that price.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Quentin is it. But ya, they aren't going to deal Tracy because of Tony Clark. Now to make room for Jackson...there is a shot at that. Personally though, I think theyd' be fools. Tracy is already a good hitter and has a chance to be a very good one. There were some rumors earlier in the season of the Mets going after him when Mientkiewicz was struggling. It depends if they would rather trade Jackson or Tracy. I'd give up Anderson and Tracey for Chad Tracy right now, but I don't think Joe Garigola Jr. does that deal.
  20. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Things have changed drastically since the time we were negociating with Omar in the offseason. Wouldnt you say? Maybe, but when there's the likes of Ozzie's favorite Alex Gonzalez and Rafael Furcal in the upcoming FA market, I tend to think we'll target one of them (although I'm in the minority on that).
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) I think he meant to say Connor Jackson and the kid they drafted from Stanford 2 years back (he had surgery right after the college playoffs). For whatever reason I can't think of his name, but it will come to me. Carlos Quentin maybe? but he's an OF prospect. Either way they desperately need some good young pitching and we've got that.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Does Tracy play the outfield? Never seen that. I've heard he's a disaster of a 3b though. One of the games I went to in Arizona he was playing in LF when Gonzo went on bereavement leave. Made some very nice catches as well.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Tony Clark is not part of their future. If you get Tracy, you'd be giving up some top pitching prospects (McCarthy or Gio). DBacks are LOADED with offensive prospects....they need young pitching. Still next season even without Clark, Tracy could struggle to be an everyday player, if Jackson can handle playing 1B well enough. They'll keep Clark around for another season considering how well he's hit this season. Tracy's a guy worth giving up good pitching prospects because he's going to contribute for a good 10 seasons. He's a lefty hitter too (I know you'll like this fathom).
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Chad Tracy :drools Coupled with the fact he can play 1B, 3B and any OF position, we could even trade for him if we do re-sign Konerko and not tender someone like Crede a contract (which probably won't happen). 3B is Tracy's original position anyways.
