QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) 1/2 of which were meaningless posts. :headshake Mr. Caruso?

That was quick;

His velocity still worries me, I don't know if he can be successful throwing changes and curveballs all the time;

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) 14,000... You'll be passing me soon enough. Congrats on the milestone though.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) From today's Trib, DBAH0: It all depends on what J.P Riccardi wants to do. I don't think they'll trade him, because their budget is going to increase a whole lot over the next 3 seasons. However if they lose a lot in the next week or 2, there's a slight chance he could be had. He has great numbers, especially away from the Sky - Dome, and just seems like an ideal guy to add.

QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) No room timo is a left handed outfielder..... consider griffey a slight upgrade So you'd want Griffey to be a bench player to replace Timo?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) If you're talking about pitchers, that's the single dumbest thing I've ever read on SoxTalk. That was an argument I was trying to make about Contreras and run support. Gil Meche has 10 wins this year, but an ERA over 4.5. Does that make him a better pitcher than Jake Peavy who only has 8 wins this season?

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Try this one. I freely admit I suck at the Internet. I'd keep him or her, but I'd have 10 cats if I could. Oh and our dog was getting it's teeth cleaned today, all the for the mighty fine price of $300.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Over Schilling, Clement, Wells Miller? Schilling's not starting. Clement has sucked in the past month and a half. Wells and Miller both have an ERA higher than Contreras. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) You got it. And it was cheaper than his last deal as well. Definitely a great move by KW.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Thank god....if this poll were the other way around, I'd close Soxtalk The wave blows...case closed. They seem to love it in Anaheim don't they?

Or unless they want to hand off to the Aussie...............

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Isn't Pollite a FA at the end of the year? No they re-worked his deal in the last off-season, so he's got a team option for next season IIRC.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Boy would it be great with a Guardado mixed in there though. Not if his rotator cuff gives up though. I'd prefer Miguel Batista myself although I know a lot of people are probably going to disagree with me on that. Of course Guardado has something like a $7 million option for next season as well, and KW and Ozzie will have to decide whether or not he's a set-up guy or closer.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) s***ty rotations. Losing teams. :headshake Ok let's see here. On Baltimore he would be. Texas yes. Arizona yes. Almost any team in a pitchers park would have him in their rotation, because he wouldn't give up as many HR's. Just answer this, at the end of last year, if JC had an ERA of just above 4 at this point, would you have taken it? -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) One of my favorite things to occur this season was that we kept Jenks on the roster, and let Shingo go. It would have been so easy for KW to just send down Jenks, and keep the obviously washed-up Shingo. That move took a lot of balls by KW and Ozzie, and I'm thrilled with the decision. It also means that he can develop, and that we probably won't have to sign a closer off the FA market again for quite a while if all goes well.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Exactly. DBAHO, I think you and I are on the same page with all of this. Again, in no way am I saying his career is over before it really ever started. Very much so, because there's a lot of factors to consider. This time next season, if he's still in Charlotte and getting hammered, then we can be entitled to start getting a bit anxious, but I don't think that'll be the case. Realistically, he should be in this starting rotation by the start of the 2007 season.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) So you're saying it was a fluke? You could say that, it's just proves he wasn't ready to pitch in the majors.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) So now Count is a #3 starter? I dont think so. On how many MLB teams would Jose Contreras be a #3 starter on? I'd think you'd be suprised. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) After the ST he had, there was no chance he was going back to AA. The funny thing is, and I swear on my life this is true, when I saw McCarthy in ST, he looked the same as he did in the majors. I didn't understand why people weren't hitting him, and his stuff was rather underwhelming. I remember asking my brother how he was getting people out with what he was throwing up to the plate. Which is why I was saying the great ST was probably the last thing he needed. They were bound to catch up with him eventually.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Schmidt= 32 So what does that mean?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) By the way in Neal's very short first stint he had an era of 8.10, bmac 8.14 so basically the same damn thing. Have patience. Which is unfortunately something that a lot of White Sox fans don't have a great deal of.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) If you get beat up in AAA, then you have more problems than your confidence. We shouldn't be babying McCarthy in the minors. If we were to send him down to AA, that might shatter his confidence more than any shelling he'd receive in AAA. Based on his last outing, he's not getting shelled in Charlotte any more. What we're trying to say is that he should have been sent down in AA in the 1st place, but now that he's in AAA they'll stick with him there.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Based on this season, yes, Cotts is better than Marte but the difference is that Marte has shown previous MLB dominance in which case BMac hasn;t shown in AAA or MLB. And the AAA for Cotts was a typo.... So that doesn't mean Marte's automatically going to pick it up and perform like he did in the past. What about Kevin Walker after 2000? Cotts and B-Mac are very similar, and you're seeing the rewards in developing one of them so far.
