QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) If the Sox are planning on BMac starting two games, they'll probably put El Duque on the DL. It would be retroactive to the last time he pitched, which I believe was Sunday the 15th. By the time his slot came up for the third time, he'd be eligible to come off the DL. That's a good idea YAS. The Sox should really just shut down El Duque for the rest of the month at least, if there any problems with his arm whatsoever. He's going to crucial for us down the stretch, so it's ideal that he needs to be healthy then. Possible short - term pain for long - term gain, if you get my thinking.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread

I don't think Dirk is going to call out Jason Terry for a long, long time. -
QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I'm not saying that, I just think Billy Beane is a fool for trading Hudson and Mulder for a group of unproven rookies. Well if he had an extra $10 million in payroll to play around with, that probably would have never happened. Beane wanted his club to be able to contend for a good period of time (not including this year), or he could have put all his eggs into the one basket and gone for the whole thing this season. I will say this though, if he could do the Tim Hudson trade again, he probably would have. Drew Meyer has been a total bust so far, and has suddenly lost about 5 MPH on his fastball, making him very hittable in AAA.

Finally on Zito. 7.72 ERA away from Oakland. Says it all really. He'd get killed at the Cell.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) He got Danny Haren who is 1-5 with a 5.32 ERA, Joe Blanton who is 0-4 with a 5.08 ERA, Kiko Calero is 2-0 with a 8.68 ERA, and Kirk Saarloos who is 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA. Beane's master plan is failing right now. You're telling me you wouldn't want Joe Blanton as a part of this organization right now? Guess you're a Royce Ring fan.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) That is a good point but I still think he is worth getting if the Sox can manage to get him w/o giving up BMac or Brian Anderson Ok so who goes out of the rotation? Why didn't Beane deal him instead of Mulder or Hudson in the off-season? How many walks has Zito given up this season? You know that's definitely going to endear him to Ozzie.

Just remember folks, even if B-Mac doesn't pitch great in his 1st start, and a Cubs fan tries to heckle you for it, just counter it with; "Oh yeah, well at least he's better than Angel Guzman!"

Anybody not associated with FutureSox just has no idea what's goin on now.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Any reasons why not? Rick Peterson.

Jake Peavy = The s***.

I traded Barmes for Ben Sheets. Someone should remind Marcus he's playing in Atlanta not San Diego like his brother.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) I don't know about that, D. I've been in the Intimidators stadium, and it's better than Wrigley... Whats the smell factor out of 10?

QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 21, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) You forgot one. Poster BobDylan = God of a poster. Welcome. But still pales in comparison to the Aussie. Oh and welcome aboard Chisoxtime.

It's sure been quite a rise from when he started last season off at Kanny.

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 21, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) Pfft. That's in the past. The future is tomorrow, or more accurately, Sunday. Brandon McCarthy. Sorry, I just thought it was odd that you were posting about today's game when the buzz is about BMac. I agree, but I was never as down on Garcia as most. I never thought he was a great starter from the day we got him and was down on him more than most, but he's going to be a little inconsistent. Sox fans are going to have to learn to live with that. Today was the perfect game for him to throw in though. An away game during the day with the wind blowing in. Perfect conditions for him.
-
I wonder if there were any thoughts by the Sox brass instead to just promote Adkins instead. But let's hope B-Mac can show, why he's such a highly rated prospect.
-
After his last 2 performances before today, the things getting said about Garcia weren't too great. "He's lost 5 miles on his fastball" "He left his curveball hanging in the zone" "He should be our 5th starter now". I was really pleased for him today. He's a much better pitcher than what he showed in those games, and today proved it. 4-3 with a 3.56 ERA aren't too bad numbers at all.

Yes............... if I can get the stupid mower going.

So.................... how bout that Antoine Walker?

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 20, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) 50 K's in 160 official ABs. Ouch! Gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

.387 OBP. It's almost getting to the stage, where KW could be looking to re-sign him on a long - term deal (will probably happen in the off-season), although IIRC he's got another year left on his deal right?

After seeing this article on Flip Saunders becoming a front runner for the Magic job, http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...357/1002/sports I'd thought I'd satrt a thread where people now can predict who they think is going to coach the NBA jobs that are currently open. I'll get it kicked off; Orlando - Brian Hill Minnesota - Eric Musselman Portland - Flip Saunders Cleveland - Maurice Cheeks New York - P.J Carlesimo Los Angeles - Phil Jackson

Let's just hope this doesn't push Zambrano into pitching a hell of a game against us.

QUOTE(Spiff @ May 20, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) I would never call the guy classy, he did what he had to to get by, but there's nothing classy about him. This is the same guy who argued with Spike Lee in the middle of games. And Cosmo Kramer.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 20, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) I just got off the phone with my good friend timo, and he said that he's not sniffing the outfield this weekend. When did you kiss and make up?
