QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) During halftime of the Bulls game on WGN, they just said that Sunday's Tribune is reporting the Cubs will workout Magglio next week. Probably because the Tiggies haven't offered Maggs a 7 year deal, which is what Bora$$ wants.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 04:58 AM) I ship small lightweight stuff to Australia all the time. Postage is usually around $1.25 Ok cool, I'll have to check out my options, but I'm definitely willing to buy one. Maybe I'll have a look on EBay.

OBP was a killer stat for the Sox last season. I think we were the best team in the AL to score with runners in scoring position, but we were the worst team in getting play into scoring position in the 1st place, I may be wrong on that, but it's something like that. If Pods can put up a .340 OBP the same as Willie leading off, but steal 70 bases, he'll be able to score a lot more runs. Hairston is too injury prone, and won't hit well enough to be a productive left fielder, which is most likely going to be his position for the Flubs, because they want won't move Walker, which I find strange, considering he ain't a good fielder anyway.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) Now all we need is your sister and we're all set. Never going to happen.

I wouldn't mind getting one but it would be a bit hard with the shipping etc., unless there's a way around it.

Man how awesome would it be to sign Santana from the Twinkies. Never going to happen though. Doesn't he have a brother Ervin who pitches in the minors for the Angels, or aren't they related?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) LOL, May I bring a can of spam to this welcome party? What flavor are we talking?

If the Flubs miss out on Burnitz, and Maggs does indeed sign with the Tiggies, Jackass Jones has a very good chance of being traded.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) I agree, I was one of those people last year also. But now you throw Koskie and Guzman on top of that. I just think this is the year all of them pile up and Minnesota is dethroned. Koskie is a loss no doubt, but he was injury prone for them and only hit 7th in the lineup, despite putting up .260 25 HR's a season usually. The Twinkies should be glad they lost Guzman though, a .308 OBP and he gets a 4 year $16 million deal from Jim Bowden.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I know it's been said somewhere, but the offense wasn't even Baltimore's problem. This does nothing but hurt them, even if Sosa exceeds expectations. Baltimore's Rotation as of this moment; 1 - Sidney Ponson 2 - Rodrigo Lopez 3 - Daniel Cabrera 4 - Erik Bedard 5 - Matt Riley Is there 1 guy on that list who would get into our rotation at the moment?

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Those guys obviously are all good, if not great players. It's just my opinion that this will be the year that all those FA losses will finally take their toll on Minnesota. And, if the reports are true that will have to trade Jones if they lose their arbitration hearings, that doesn't bode well for them either. Unless, of course they have settled with their arbitration players, I haven't heard. Everyone thought that last season too after they lost Everyday Eddie and LaTroy Hawkins. They deserve to be the favorites until someone can knock them off the top.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Damn...I don't want to have to dislike Baltimore. I always pulled for them in that division. Sosa will make it hard to do so. Peter Angelos gets his payback against the Nationals. The Orioles are never going to be competitve in that division, no matter how good their offense may be, unless they seriously upgrade their starting pitching. Sidney Ponson doesn't cut it.

Cintron would definitely be a guy to look at as an utility infielder, and the D-Backs could actually have some interest in Willie considering he can play CF (albeit not very well) and I think Luis Terrero is as of this moment the favorite to claim the CF job.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) We just all need to let this thing play out. I will honestly say that I don't think Minnesota will win the division this year. It's going to be the Sox or Cleveland. Just my honest opinion. One other thing, isn't Barry Rozner a huge Cubs fan? The reason I ask, is everywhere people are talking how The cardinals got worse, I know they lost a bunch, but I really don't think they got worse. They have a full season of Larry Walker, provided he stays healthy and Mark Mulder. What's your reasoning behind the Twinkies not being able to win the division this season? Radke and Santana are back, and Mauer should be able to play for a whole season, and Morneau as well.

Good read;

Articles I've seen in the last few days indicate that the Bears really want a playmaker, and are willing to take a RB like Brown at #4 to do so. That's crazy, why not just trade down, and still pick up Mike Williams, and get an extra 2nd or 3rd in the process?

Welcome to SoxTalk, it's nice to have another female poster on the site.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) ten seconds -- I typed iguchi in the search feature, and went to the oldest thread -- I thought DBAHO was the first to bring up his name, but Jason again proved he's always on top of s***. That might have been Matzusuka, it was probably me, you or Mr. Zero I'm thinking. EDIT: No it was Jason and YASNY in the same thread from a FutureSox Article.
