  1. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I bet you saw more Elisha Cuthbert movies.... Absolutely.
  2. So basically if he's healthy, the Tiggies are stuck with him until he's 37. Bora$$ does it again.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Beltre has had exactly one season over .265 avg., over 80 rbi, .426 slugging, and over 23 HRs. Beltre signed for 5 years $64 million. Tell me Maggs is worth less than Beltre. GMAB. Maggs averaged for 6 seasons over Beltre's one career year. With protections in place in case the Doctors here are right and he loses major time, something over $64 million is within the insanity that is baseball salaries. Reasons for that would be Beltre plays in a position where it's much harder to find good players (Scott Rolen, Alex Rodriguez) in third base, than it is with Maggs in right field. Plus Beltre is 4 years younger, and Seattle took a calculated risk that they thought that he could be just coming into his prime. With Maggs it's the opposite, I think he should end up with a contract like J.D Drew got though.
  4. I'm thinking I may actually purchase it this year, since I saw all of 2 White Sox Games last season.
  5. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) I guarentee the Indians will finish above the SOX. I was dead on the last TWO {2} YEARS! We will. You gotta watch out for the Tigers! So you predicted the Indians would finish behind the Sox last two years then?
  6. So much for Illich doing the smart thing and waiting for Maggs' price to go down.
  7. Pop Quiz. What's the most points scored in a half of NBA basketball. Orlando and Boston are tied at 67 at the end of the 1st half, I'd say that'd be up there, maybe in the top 10.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) Jude Law might not be a bad choice. I'm thinking him or Clive Owen are the most likely, I just can't see an Aussie in Bana or Jackman as James Bond.
  9. QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) While I like Timo [and the sox do as well], is he the "ideal" 4th OFer for the Sox, with the current makeup of the club? I don't know. For the sox, they should want a good glove guy who can play all 3 OF spots, and can steal bases so he can pinch run late in games. Whatever offense that guy can give is a bonus, whether its a guy like Timo who can make contact or a guy with some pop off the bench. Also, the sox bench as it stands, has too many LH bats. Gload, Everett and Davis are set [both CArl and Ben hit better from the left side]. Timo makes it 4 LH bats, even with a RH hitting UTL guy. They might be better with a RH bat like Escobar or Alvarez, if Timo is wanted by a team like Ariz. That Alvarez couldn't crack the Pirates lineup doesn't bode well for him getting into the sox OF mix. But his stats seem decent, can steal some bases and I'm guessing has a good glove [fits the Sox M.O.] Also, FWIW, Tony is Venezuelan. But getting another OFer?! This would make it more likely a guy like Timo could be moved. Could be filling the roster at AAA, though if you want Escobar in AAA, Anderson and Spidale likely in AAA as well, where do you put Alvarez? That the sox got another OF guy would suggest some sort of movement is coming [Joe B moved out somewhere the most likely scenario]. It's likely that at least 1 of Anderson or Spidale will be back in Birmingham to start the season, so you could have a potential outfield of Borchard, Alvarez and Escobar for the Knights.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 06:13 AM) I'd wager he doesn't go to jail for this. He'll play in the NBA make a good amount of money and in the process he will probably assault a few more women and maybe then he'll finally see prison time. Basically Kobe Bryant Version 2.0
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) I agree, Detroit or the Mets. The media specifically asked Hendry about Ordonez at the Sosa trade press conference. Hendry said he'd inquired but it wasn't a match in terms of $$ or contract length. I could see there being a very slim possibility if the Mets backed out, because it's getting fairly obvious that Ordonez (Boras) is holding out for something other than Detroit. Just a guess on my part but I don't think Ordonez is thrilled with the prospect of playing 5 years in Detroit. Again, assumption on my part but New York would be much more attractive to him. And I think Boras will extract an offer from the Mets very soon. Basically I think it's up to the Mets now. If they want him, they'll come up with a good enough offer, and Maggs will sign on the dotted line. They'll need to find a taker for Cameron (Arizona, Seattle) or Cliff Floyd first though.
  12. I'll have it. Contributions can be made to the DBAH0 needs a Jersey fund.
  13. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) So you would keep Carla who makes 4 million and can't play the field over Timo who makes 1 mil and can? Albeit not very well. I'm assuming you think Gload will be the DH if we trade Crazy Carl instead of Timo, because well Timo ain't going to produce numbers to justify that role. His value is as a pinch hitter, that's all. In the first few months as a DH while THomas is injured, Everett could hit well enough, that it could be very hard to keep him out of the lineup, we all remember the start he had in Texas in 2003 that made KW trade for him in the 1st place.
  14. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:29 AM) Then why did you bring them up I know that they would never come here.. LA/Angels are not going to sign someone just to trade them.. I'm just trying to justify your favortism towards those players, that others don't see fit, and your thoughts of KW, which others also don't see fit. Looking back on the off-season now, I ask you this, would you still have rathered signed any one of these 2 if they were still free agents, and who would you have to give up (out of free agents) to do this?
  15. So you're complaining about the state of our farm system, and you'd think that I would favor a B-Mac and Anderson deal for Placido Polanco. That's insane. What is the difference between Cabrera @ 32 million over 4 years, and Polanco for about $4.85 mill for 1 season anyway? And if we gave up Garland and Harris for Orlando, who's our 5th starter going to be all of a sudden?
  16. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) If we can give LA and Angels.. Garland and Harris.. wouldn't you? NO you wouldn't you would rather give up Anderson and BMac to get Polanco...cause he the answer. :rolly Despite my thoughts on the trade, which I won't discuss here, we'd be adding at least $5 million to our payroll if we did either of those moves. It ain't gonna happen.
  17. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) Yes he will, and if KW is going to try like Hell to trade for Carl Everett back too.. I don't know how but Im sure some team will be getting more prospects for those 2. But if he tried to trade for Derek Lowe or Orlando Cabrera you'd love him right?
  18. Would I like to trade Timo? Yes I would, but is it likely to happen? No it isn't, just because KW and Ozzie love him, and because of his clutch hitting, which is his major value to the team. Also we signed Tony Alvarez to a minor - league deal, and Rotoworld thought he could be an option for the 4th outfielder, plus I'd like to see Escobar get some AB's down at Charlotte, instead of his ass riding on the pine every day.

    Films

    I gotta say this about Sideways, when I saw Garden State at the flicks about 2 months ago, one of the previews I saw was for Sideways, and from what I saw from that, it just didn't look like a good movie. Now with all the props it's getting, and the ad's which for some reason are just much better than the preview, it's making me want to go see this movie.
  20. A point I want to make about the bullpens is this. I'd definitely put my money on Marte and Shingo making it through a whole season healthy, than Wickman and Howry. Howry can't really log a lot of innings either, and 2004 could have just been the best year's he's ever going to have, or he could be coming into his prime coming back from elbow surgery, we don't know, but his previous ERA probably give me the indication that he'll probably have about a 3.5 to 4 ERA. Bullpen guys are so unreliable from year to year though. We all thought that Marte was going to continue on with the form he showed over 2002-2003, but he didn't carry on with it. And if you looked at Shingo at spring training, there was no way he was going to make the major league roster if he didn't have a guaranteed contract.
  21. Is it just me or does anyone else think Valentin could hit under .200 just because he's moving from the Cell to Dodger Stadium?

    Are You a Narcissist?

    55 for me. Occasional narcissist.
  23. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) When the season was going you are 100% correct. But after the season ended i have have been much better. I don't think i am gonna post in the game threads because my post count seems to piss people off. Good, I can try and stay ahead of you then.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Melissa....Knucklesox She posts more than 3 words per post. It's not Knucklesox.
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) To dream the impossible dream ......... More like Scott Bora$$ worst nightmare.
