What do you do with Joe Crede? Florida takes on salary in that deal, they're having enough payroll problems as it is. And Delgado ain't gonna come for less than about $12 mil, so that ain't gonna happen. If we free up some payroll, we're goin to sign a starter.

Right now there are a lot of relievers on the bubble, such as Cotts, Adkins, Baj, Munoz etc. One of those could probably be had in a trade. And definitely outfielders, with Everett, Lee, Rowand, Perez, Borchard and Alex Escobar all on the 40 man roster. Of course KW may never move Borchard, we won't move Escobar since we haven't had a chance to see what he can do down in Charlotte, and I doubt Ozzie wants Perez to be moved either (which would kill Gene).

They probably got a little gun - shy from the Sidney Ponson signing last season, and how that blew up in their faces. At least they got some young pitching to build around I suppose, but no it won't be much fun in that division for the next few seasons.

Seattle could end up with both Sexson AND Delgado while the O's miss out. They haven't signed one free agent starting pitcher either.

With the current market for free agents and the deals some of the other catchers have signed, I doubt he'll sign for less than 3 to 4 mil.

Podsednik made $400,000 last season. But he will make $1,380,000 in the next 2 seasons until 2006. Ginter is signed for $640,000 (the same amount he made this season) for the next 2 seasons also.

Also if the Sox do this, they will have freed up about 6 to 7 mil in salary, and can afford to go after a FA starter like Odalis Perez. Rowand or Podsednik would most likely have to move to LF though.

This won't happen until after Dec. 20 in my mind, because the Sox will want to see which players will be non - tendered like Alex Cora. But I definitely don't like the trade, and I think we should look to the Marlins for Juan Pierre or Luis Castillo instead.
