The Ohio result was predicted to be decided in an hour, but now it's going to take a couple more. There's 250,000 votes left to count, so Kerry would need to get at least 175,000 to win.

FWIW Kerry is just winning in Nevada by 2,000 votes after 41% counted. That was meant to be a sure Republican state.

I think things have changed in Florida since 2000 though. Jeb Bush has an approval rating of 70% in Florida, which certainly helps George Dubya, and I think when Bush went down to Florida quickly after the numerous hurricanes and gave his support (also financially) to those people who lives and houses were devastated in the hurricanes, that would have definitely helped him as well.

Postal votes are predicted to go Republican by a 2 to 1 margin though.

A general thing to look at with the economy is the level of Real GDP and amount of economic growth over the Bush Administration. Interest Rates are usually at 7% if the economy is performing well, and the Reserve Bank wants to take heat out of the economy, to stop rapid inflation.
