Birmingham beat Mobile 8-1. B-Mac went 7 innings with 1 ER, 2 BB's and 9 K's. The 1 ER came off a homer. Meaux struck out 3 for 3 in relief. Chris Stewart was 3 for 4 while Rob Sasser homered for 3 RBI's in the 5th. Box Score

It's just 50 posts. This is a CRUCIAL offseason for the white Sox. Do we sign a Corey Koskie to replace Crede at 3rd, or a Omar Vizzquel to replace Jose Valentin at SS. Do we sign a true top of the rotation starter, or do we just go for a #3 or #4 starter? Should be very interesting to watch.

Let's just hope he isn't overworked in Arizona, and comes back to the Sox fatigued like Munoz was in early 2003 I think after he pitched winter ball.

Fifth Level of Hell The river Styx runs through this level of Hell, and in it are punished the wrathful and the gloomy. The former are forever lashing out at each other in anger, furious and naked, tearing each other piecemeal with their teeth. The latter are gurgling in the black mud, slothful and sullen, withdrawn from the world. Their lamentations bubble to the surface as they try to repeat a doleful hymn, though with unbroken words they cannot say it. Because you lived a cruel, vindictive and hateful life, you meet your fate in the Styx.

Any chance he could start next season for Charlotte Jason? It'll be interesting to see who are starting for the Knights and Barons opening day next season to say the least.

Why are they trying to hype the Sox/Phillies game?

Sox vs. Phillies. The game to decide which GM gets fired 1st. -
We had all white guys on our team except for one, and you saw how we did.

I just hope Grilli tries to keep the ball down, otherwise he'll get hammered by the Tribe's great offense.

We've lost all PM's for the last few weeks as well as you can probably all tell, I know Kap and Jason said they were going to try and work on it though, but they probably hav a lot on their plate already.

All I'm gonna say is that that's not good news for Bush at all. 17.6% of children living in poverty is pretty bad, I'd be interested to see what the figures are down here though compared to you guys.

Happy B-Day SoxFan1, hope u hav a great 1!

I'm just interested to hear all of ur opinions on if Sandy did retire at the end of the season, and we wanted him on the coaching staff, what type of job would we have waiting for him?

Fields could be ready sometime in 2006 if he keeps progressing. It really is an interesting decision about Omar Vizquel. Do we give Juan Uribe another chance at SS? Do we sign Vizquel for 1 or 2 years as a filler? Should we go for a younger, speedier guy instead? Or why don't we sign a 3B like Corey Koskie instead? A lot of questions that will need answering this offseason for KW. I wonder if the Indians think if they might have made a mistake in signing Aaron Boone now as well, especially if he doesn't come back to form next season.

That's it for the future of the Lisy Corporation.

From the Fort - Worth Star Telegram, A large number of pitchers being put through waivers are being claimed, according to major league officials. The gamut runs from Arizona's Randy Johnson to Detroit's Nate Robertson. Once a claim is made, a team can pull the player back. A few are getting through, however, including Kris Benson of the New York Mets, Jon Garland of the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City's Darrell May and Brian Anderson. After the July 31 deadline, players must pass through waivers before being traded. But clubs, especially the Royals, are still asking for outfielder Kevin Mench when they talk trade with the Rangers. The Colorado Rockies still have Shawn Estes, but the Rangers rejected a July 31 deal for shortstop Ian Kinsler and pitcher Frankie Francisco. The Rangers aren't likely to give much for a pitcher who will likely make just six-seven starts.

At least we wasted the Indians bullpen yesterday, if we can get to Sabathia early, who hasn't been at his best either in his last few outings, it'll definitely help our chances.
-
You could really make a case for a lot of center fielders in the AL right now. Mark Kotsay of the A's, Vernon Wells of the Blue Jays, Garret Anderson of the Angels could come to mind. And in a few years Rocco Baldelli of the D-Rays and probably even Jeremy Reed could be right up there.
-
Now that would hav been Southsider's doing, you know how much he loves Fosters.
-
Game Thread is pinned, let's hope the same title brings us some good luck 2 days in a row. We'll need it with Grilli up against Sabathia, while Brad Radke takes on Aaron Sele in Anaheim.

Don't expect to see Stewart again for a while,

Found this in the Rocky Mountain News,

Yeah it would hav to be a Brian Anderson like prospect, but even then that probably still wouldn't be enough. But I think we should everything we can to get Pierre or even Carl Crawford Southside. Willie Harris should be the #9 hitter in this lineup. If Mike Lowell goes this off-season, they could want Joe Crede perhaps if they leave Miguel Cabrera in RF.
