  1. Tanner Banks has started the game with 5 consecutive K's lol edit - Lux took strike 3 right down the middle and it was called a ball. He ended up walking instead. my b.
  2. That was a nice inning from Banks but man I didn't realize he's already 30
  3. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but man, I'm so excited to hear Benetti again
  4. I think today's Dodgers starter Andre Jackson would make a lot of sense as part of the return in a potential Kimbrel trade. just someone to keep an eye on during today's game.
  5. If Kimbrel was getting traded for Langeliers (interesting idea) it would have already happened. Rosenthal reported the Braves & Sox talked about a Kimbrel trade before they signed Jansen.
  6. I agree with you, but I'm still holding out hope for a quality OF addition anyways. I wish all of the position player injuries from last season were a wake up call to Hahn & KW that expecting all of the core position players to stay healthy for ~150 games isn't a realistic plan. I understand wanting to let Vaughn & Sheets develop at the big league level, that makes perfect sense, but all it takes is *one* injury at `1B/RF/LF/DH and all of a sudden those guys are thrust back into every day roles. An addition like Conforto or Meadows wouldn't just make the RF position stronger, it also would add more depth to the roster overall and reduce the number of PA's we'd end up seeing this year from replacement level types like Goodwin, Billy Hamilton, Lamb, Yermin, etc
  7. Rays were supposedly interested in Kimbrel at the deadline and they seemed to be credibly linked with Freeman before he went to the Dodgers. I don't think it's impossible that Kimbrel ends up in Tampa either.
  8. Can't undo it now, but not prioritizing Eduardo Escobar (who's been a 3+ WAR player 2 of the last 3 years) over going bargain shopping for Josh Harrison will never make sense to me. Escobar didn't even sign for that expensive of a deal. 2/20M with a club option should have been a no-brainer if they weren't serious about signing a high end FA like Story to fill that position for good.
  9. I'm not a Kimbrel guy at all, but he's coming off a season where he was tied for 5th amongst all relievers in fWAR. Slightly ahead of Raisel Iglesias, who just signed a 4/58M contract over the off-season. He has one of the best track records for any relief pitcher of all-time. I think calling him a slightly above average reliever is harsh, and this is coming from someone who was on here trashing acquisition of him from the moment it happened.
  10. If the plan for Crochet really is to start using him in multi inning stints, as a spot starter, etc then I could see Sousa making the Opening Day roster. Particularly if rosters are expanded to start the season.
  11. The 100 MPH Crochet is probably never coming back. But we saw last season that isn't essential for him to be an effective reliever.
  12. Their farm system is so ridiculously deep I'm shocked they haven't traded for anyone. But I'm sure their ownership never would have signed off on taking Suarez as a salary dump.
  13. Both New York teams (Yankees especially) seem to be acting as if the mandate will be lifted before Opening Day. But at the same time, I think the Brooklyn Nets expected they'd be able to pressure NYC to lift it for Kyrie and obviously that has not happened.
  14. Same law is in place for Canadians trying to enter the US. Just an fyi.
  15. Atlanta was interested in trading for Kimbrel before eventually signing Jansen, per Rosenthal.
  16. We all know they're just keep the books clean long-term to offer Gio the 130-200M it'll take to sign him long-term, right? 🙂 Berrios signed for 7/131M and I'm thinking that's the floor for Lucas if he stays healthy.
  17. People always severely underestimate what's normal from an injury perspective during a given season. The average team uses like 10 SP's during a traditional 162 game season for a reason. For those of you with subscriptions to The Athletic that are interested in a sobering reminder for how high pitcher injury rates are, here you go with projected IL days for most SP's in 2022 "To estimate the projected IL days, we compared starters with similar injury histories. We used slightly different samples for each pitcher, since guys in their mid-20s have more comps than those that are near 40 years old. The No. 1 variable that predicted future injury was days missed on the IL (non-COVID) from the last two seasons. Additionally, age, body size, fastball velocity, and total career arm injuries were incorporated, but to a lesser extent. One known issue with these projections is that they were created when the prior two seasons were a complete 162 games. The 2020 season only had 60 but is assumed to be a full season in the calculations. It’s basically impossible to work around. " "https://theathletic.com/3136219/2022/03/18/sarris-starting-pitching-ranks-for-the-2022-fantasy-season/ Of course some pitchers will stay healthy for an entire season and make 32 starts, but the most likely outcome for each individual SP is that they'll spend some time on the IL each season. The projected IL days for Gio, Lynn, Cease, Kopech are enough to make your stomach get a bit queasy, but also highlight how essential it is to add 1 more quality SP.
  18. The lefties who fit better (but are worse players, honestly) like Joc and Rosario are already off the board. I don't think they should be picky if Conforto isn't in the plans. Just add the best player possible at this point.
  19. It's not glamorous by any means, but if Conforto doesn't end up happening for whatever reason, Tommy Pham would work for me as a depth option. All of the projection systems on FG have him as an above-average hitter and in the ~2 WAR range in an every day role. I wouldn't advocate for him getting that here, obviously, but he's the 2nd best OF left at this point and likely to sign cheap.
  20. If it's Twins @ White Sox in the final series of the year, with the division title on the line, absolutely no one here is going to be cheering for the Twins come on now, lol. And I'm as frustrated with Hahn/Reinsdorf as anyone.
  21. Maybe reading Soxtalk is what caused the Sox to sell so low on Madrigal
  22. Go on roster resource and start comparing the Sox pen (with Kimbrel but no Graveman or Kelly) to teams like the Jays, Rays, Astros, Dodgers, Yankees, etc. All of the teams the Sox are directly competing with to win the World Series. Their pen was already deep enough as is, assuming that money would be directed towards filling more difficult positions to find quality players at like RF or 2B. I'm also not sure how much safer/more productive you can expect Graveman or Kelly to be than relievers who sign on 1 year deals for cheaper AAV's anyways. Graveman has thrown 56 good innings in his life, and that came with him outpitching his ERA, xERA, FIP etc by ~1.5 runs. Kelly had a huge strikeout rage surge last year, but if that regresses at all he goes back to being an ordinary reliever pretty quickly.
