  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 23, 2016 -> 11:24 PM) The problem with the term thug is most people don't even use the word properly. It's become synonymous with black people which is a microaggression! When hockey players beat the s*** out of each other, you don't ever hear people say they are thugs... things that make you go hmmmmm Draymond Green isn't a thug, he's just an entitled asshole and the NBA just allowed it to continue. Agreed. But I think in hockey they use the term "goon", and most of that has been taken out of the game at this point. You can't afford a roster spot for someone who's just an instigator. NBA just feels so fake like WWE at this point
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:25 AM) I would just leave him in the 2 hole honestly. Let him see fastballs and try to find his way out of it. 2 hole sees too many at bats to leave a struggling player there, IMHO. Your 2 hole should be your best or second best hitter. The only player who sees more at-bats is the leadoff man but the leadoff man has one less at bat with men on base. I love Abreu, but if he's going to struggle, he needs to be 6 in the lineup. You can't let him struggle in the 2 hole.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:09 AM) This really makes no sense. The Sox have no chance because Abreu is struggling and yet the Sox are still in first place and 8 games over .500 despite Abreu's struggles. We have had some excellent fortune so far this season to cover up Abreu struggling, but most of us agree there will be a time when we need him to hit and help carry the rest of the team.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 23, 2016 -> 07:26 PM) If you're trying to speed the game up, doing what they did with IBB is exactly what you should do. I know they don't happen that often, but shortening a game by 30 seconds to a minute is at least doing something about the length of games. Severely limit mound visits and warm up pitches would help, but pitching changes inject commercials into the proceedings.
  5. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 23, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) Dangerous precedent they are setting by not suspending Green. Not allowed to say thug league because it's racist, but this whole thing feels like WWE with the NBA clinging to the Warriors narrative
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 23, 2016 -> 07:26 PM) Wasn't pretty but I'll take the win Hugely important considering our starter for game 2
  7. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 23, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) Albers is the biggest mental midget on the team Does Ventura count?
  8. The intentional walk is like a double switch. It's just heavily overvalued. Throwing four pitches isn't necessary. Put the guy on base.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 20, 2016 -> 11:40 PM) I actually have the size carryon that a carryon was designed to be. It's basically a hard duffel bag. Not one of those real long duffel bags, either. Bigger than a briefcase of course. It can fit shirts up to six days, only one pair of alternate pants. Six days worth of sox, underwear, one pair of shoes (now it's getting tight), dob-kit for bathroom stuff. Those f***ing pieces of luggage designed as carryons are the problem. It's funny cause on SW Airlines I pay extra to get in the A group. Usually if I am, let's say, A-40 (out of 60) you'll get on the plane and the first 10 or more rows each have three of those huge luggage carryons in each bin. Filled. If I can't get the exit row (just one exit row on SW now is roomier than any other rows) then I take the aisle around the exit row even with a good number. But the luggage companies creating those "carry-ons" have caused the havoc. I have proven u can fit a lot of s*** in a regular duffel carryon. And the crazy part is Southwest checked bags are free. I fly AA and Delta a lot for work and it's almost as bad. For some reason Southwest is the worst.
  10. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 23, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) Eh, the charges weren't true. He plead to a lesser charge. There's wiggle room there to explain why he's suspended v. kicked off the team. He plead to a lesser charge, that does NOT mean the other charge was untrue.
  11. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 23, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) I agree with Maddon about the Intentional Walk. That needs to stay the way it is. Nah. Just move them along.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ May 23, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) I got my groomsmen a personalized glass with their faces painted on it cause I was the first person married and didn't know what the hell was going on. Was cheap though. Then my best men got me nice shoes to wear at their wedding and a nice tie. I wear those all the time and they are great. They spent way more though. Similar deal with me. I had no clue what the hell was going on and I didn't have much money.
  13. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 23, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) DV is a terrible crime, but it's not any worse than pulling a knife and putting it on someone's neck. If Black is still on the team with a suspension, I don't see how Nunn is kicked off the team. These guys both likely play this year, which is why I am sick about it. I just think about all the good guys who would love to play Illinois basketball and these lowlifes are taking roster spots.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 19, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Tate's case dismissed. Good. Seemed like BS from what I've heard. Illinois must take strong stand vs. domestic violence with Kendrick Nunn penalty I get the feeling he's going to get off really easy, but I'm feeling uneasy about it overall. If it weren't for Lovie Smith, my loyalty to Illinois would be strictly academic. I won't say it "breaks my heart", but Illinois basketball makes me far more sick than any win-loss record could indicate.
  15. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 23, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) I don't expect Dany to win at the end. If she does beat the White Walkers, then I'd wager she also turns Mad Queen and has to be killed herself. It seems almost too obvious that Dany's dragons will play a part in defeating the White Walkers.
  16. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 22, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Dude. Every f***ing game I've been to this year. Either they are retarded or this is some really odd complex. I'd never be caught dead at Wrigley if the Sox weren't there and I sure as hell wouldn't wear all Sox gear if I did. I've seen so many Cubs fans at the Cell this year. Not a Cubs fan, but Wrigley is still a good time. Going next weekend since the Sox aren't in town. I never get any of the "wear different team's" stuff at an irrelevant game. Unless you're wearing North Stars apparel at a Dallas Stars game, there's really no excuse for wearing the wrong team's apparel.
  17. Beautifully written plot twist
  18. Because Robin is a bad coach.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) Your positivity is not welcome in winner threads. Sox fans have forgotten how to win. Imagine if this were a Blackhawks thread in the NHL thread. The optimism after one of those wins was enormous for a team with major issues.
  20. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ May 22, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) Cub fans from the the South side lack brain cells so it is hard to imagine that they employ much logic when they decide to attend a Sox game and wear their ridiculous looking Cub attire. Some of the brightest people I know are Cubs fans. They're the Blackhawks fans of baseball. They show up to the wrong games in the wrong apparel. Albeit, Cubs fans are generally more intelligent than Blackhawks fans.
  21. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ May 22, 2016 -> 06:34 PM) That's deceptive, as the Astros Cubs Mets and blue jays making the playoffs last year made that list much smaller. And let's not forget that Kansas City and Pittsburgh were on that list together as late as 2012. That's not deceptive. It's factual. In today's MLB, the White Sox inability to make the playoffs combined with the inability to build a real minor league system is simply unacceptable.
  22. Dallas Keuchel is terrible. 7 earned through 6
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 22, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) No greg, Melky has power as he displayed it on his double earlier. He is probably not going to hit a lot of HR but he has XBH type power. He had 2 strikes and made an adjustment to just make contact. He is the best hitter on the team right now. Arguing about something good is refreshing.
  24. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 22, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Hahn is probably the biggest part of the problem. How do you figure? He has inked some of the best contracts in baseball. Maybe by not firing Robin earlier and hiring a real manager.
  25. Trevor Daley out for the season. That totally sucks. Seems like a good dude.
