  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 03:19 PM) It always scares me to separate a guy from a coach in a situation like San Antonio. Similar to taking Tom Brady out of New England. Would he have had the same career with the Bears? If you look him out in the middle of his career, would he still be as good under another coach? I feel the same way about Leonard and Popovich. Yeah, I'm not sure Hoiberg would know what to do with Leonard, anyway. They'd have to blow up the whole thing again and hire a new coach.
  2. QUOTE (Quin @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 02:49 PM) LaVine? Or talking Trae? Give me Trae all day. Defense? Meh. I'm not crazy enough to believe Jalen Rose saying Leonard wants out of SA, but he's clearly unhappy. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2217953...coming-strained I would blow up the tank for that.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 11:49 AM) He is not a good defensive player. He's going to have to be coached up and buy into that end of the court. Has all the physical ability to be a quality defender so we'll see what Bulls coaching staff can do. Offensively he looked EXPLOSIVE last night. I hope he makes it to the Bulls. I would love that in Chicago.
  4. I think we're on "sixthed" but I agree with those that say do nothing
  5. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 08:08 PM) MAC IS BACK!!! [scroll down a bit] Sundays on THE SCORE I worry he won't last long.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 03:16 PM) Maybe Trubisky will be a big hit, but Floyd, the jury is still out, and White, right now a bust. It isn't over for those two, and maybe all 3 will be Pro Bowlers eventually, but he does need his top draft pick to stay healthy and help the team win in year one. Looks like he did find some gems in later rounds. His free agent signings have to be more like Hicks. Trubisky will be fine, but Floyd is a stud. Pace's drafting would be fine if the team was already well established, but Trestman/Emery destroyed the roster.
  7. Despite liking vox.com, eater, and theVerge, there are just so many stories about SB Nation being a pretty crappy employer. Good for them.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) Considering what it takes for the Orioles to consider someone damaged goods, that is probably everyone in the White Sox organization. There is no way they would take someone that is actually hurt. Maybe they have identified players, pitchers in particular, that they feel will be hurt soon. I still think it's crazy unless you are trading a guy like Avi and some lesser pitcher like Dunning or Cease. Then, maybe, but why would Baltimore do that? Unless it is totally a steal, I am thinking this whole thing is much to do about nothing. Manny Machado now knows the White Sox plan to be serious suitors next year. I tend to agree. Besides, I really don't want to be the Billy Beane in this situation: trading away Addison Russell to get one year of Jeff Samardzija. If he's not coming long term, thanks but no thanks.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) I don't know...outside of about 2 games, Fuller has been really good all year. He hasn't held on to the picks he should have had though. And he gets targeted a ton. Teams aren't afraid of him. He's having a good season, but I'm not sure he's worth the money he's going to make.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 07:15 PM) Watching his Oklahoma State teams last year. Maybe he's improved since then. His teams haven't exactly played the stingiest defense. Like I said, I think he's good, just not sure he's a cream-of-the-crop guy. He's not that dissimilar from Prohm, here. I'm all for whatever gets Illinois to NCAA tournaments without necessarily ending up with Underwood leaving for Kentucky.
  11. The fact that Fox still has a job is probably my least favorite thing about Ryan Pace. He hasn't drafted terribly and has yet to really make very many long term signings for me to grade those, but Fox still has a job, which is really disappointing. Fire him and Loggains and just let Trubisky go out their and show his stuff. The end.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) No fan base takes it to the Illini fan extreme. The Illini get screwed every game. Their opponents never do. Now that the chief has been gone a decade, what the hell else are people going to complain about?
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) I dont think the HC matters that much. If anything it may be better to have a HC that isnt as involved in the offense and have an OC who is very established. Too many times HC's who are also OC's can lose focus. I'm not sure how you can look at the LA Rams and honestly say that.
  14. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) Illinois has to be tanking so they can get higher draft choices, right? What people forget when they talk about Illinois football is that this is a program that is post scandal. If it weren't for the horror at Baylor, Illinois would have been the in scandal. When Beckman took over from Zook, he had some good talent. Beckman made players play through injuries and destroyed the program. Lovie Smith may not be a great college coach, but he should get all the time he needs. No team has success with a O-Line of Freshmen in the B1G.
  15. Good to see Brian Kelly did just enough to allow him to continue underachieve as the coach of Notre Dame.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) J4L is mostly right. Austin's still trying to land one. Based on your track record, I should be an admin. You don't like the reality that Cuonzo is a bad coach. Sorry dude. Nothing I can do for you. Feel bad for the Mizzou faithful, but they bet on the Porter train and it looks like they lost.
  17. QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) Guys, Austin is full of hotter takes than J4L we know this There's nothing hot about that take. Cuonzo is a known quantity. He's basketball Ron Zook.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) Honestly, if he is a lottery pick he has to go pro still. There is way too much risk to going back to Missouri coming off a serious back injury if he is still going to be picked high. Right. I can't imagine another year under a third rate coach is going to help his draft stock at all.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) The problem is until he plays a real schedule you won't know. Working out isn't going to answer those questions the same way a college basketball season will. That matters next to nothing, honestly. The injury is everything. He wouldn't even be in college if he were allowed to just go pro.
  20. QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) f***. We we're finally gonna be good for the first time since my freshman year. My guess is he stays a year now. Depends on how the rest of the country plays. If he's still a lottery pick, he should go.
  21. The BMW iDrive and the Audi current interface is touch screen free and it works great. So much better than pushing on a non-haptic feedback screen.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 07:04 PM) I know no one is gonna shed a tear for me but game no. 3 of no Porter Jr. No more clear information than a week ago. When you only get 30 or so games with him ... It's pretty crazy how Porter centered that team is. Reminds me of the Eric Gordon Indiana teams.
  23. Man, watching Mike and Mike for the last time is kind of crazy. I have been watching these guys since I was about 14. Moving to college, first internship, first job, moving out of state. Surprisingly emotional. In case you missed it, Greenberg's new show is called "Get Up" and premieres 4/2/2018. Golic and Wingo premieres the week after Thanksgiving.
