  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) I can't believe I just noticed this. What's the status? Still looking? Is Rockford close enough? Steve, yeah she is still looking. She's been working with her sister on trying to clean up how the resume looks and adding more information to it. We live in Schaumburg, but she's been open to anything in terms of location.
  2. Sting's contract is up in a little bit so if they want him for Mania they can get him. Meltzer reported all about this in his newsletter and it's not WWE/Bischoff/Viacom as the buyer, he didn't reference who exactly it was though. Mostly that the person/group buying it is looking at possible growth in the tv rights as away to make money.
  3. Thanks Krush. She got a call yesterday from someone at the hospital she wants to work at, but the woman who left the message didn't comment on what it was in regards to just wanted my wife to call her back. If that isn't what she is looking for then I'll send him a message.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 05:20 PM) Try reaching out to Shipps Ian. He works at a hospital. Thanks Jason, I'll send a PM later. She sent me a text message a little bit ago saying she got a call back today about something, but she didn't tell me what/where yet. She's gotten a few calls before that we're companies who wanted her to sell insurance or some crap because they got her resume off CareerBuilder. So, I hope that isn't the case this time. Appreciate the help.
  5. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) Hmm how is she currently pursuing a position? I have a buddy who owns a nurse staffing agency but I think he requires nurses to have a year experience. She'd like to try and work at a hospital near her doctors office in the St. Charles area so she can try to keep both jobs at first. So, with that in mind we've been going to the hospital website and applying for jobs there. She's looked on indeed.com/careerbuilder and she's recently gotten onto LinkedIn.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 03:56 PM) Does she have experience? She's been a medical assistant for like 7 years. She got her license in May and since then she's been training as a Triage Nurse at the doctors office where she works. Outside of that, she just has schooling and clinical rotations.
  7. Longshot, but does anyone work or know anyone who works as a Nurse in a hospital? My wife got her BSN in Nursing and is looking for an RN job, she's been on the hunt since the end of May and hasn't had much luck.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 12:06 AM) We've apparently gone back in time, design-wise. Nice call to pull down Avisail the day he gets called up to put an old school sig in the banner. I didn't decide to put it up today, lol. I made a few different banners and let the mods decide what they wanted to use if any. Anyway, I know there's a number of people here who can create better stuff then I can.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 06:20 PM) The new banner is awesome. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 06:49 PM) I agree. Who gets credit for the artwork? QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) Ian...aka...Mr Showtime!!! Thanks for the nice words everyone.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) Bump. MUCH better banner boys. Thanks!
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 04:40 PM) Garcia may not start tonight. Running late, I guess. Damn! Jake Peavy was always flying in a private jet, couldn't he help his former squad with a ride?
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2854992:date=Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:40 PM:name=Mr. Showtime)-->QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) <!--quotec-->What does Keith Law say about this deal? Then we can all decide whether this was good for the team or not. keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 6m Utility infielder. "@Kaufmak: @keithlaw Leury Garcia?" I was hoping for something funnier.
  13. What does Keith Law say about this deal? Then we can all decide whether this was good for the team or not.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) The team has definitely said it's going to do this...but yeah, there's only so much money you can put into academies and scouts before you're just dumping piles of money on the table and turning your back. I hear you loud and clear. I feel like some fans think they are going to take all this money and just go on a spending spree this winter, I don't forsee that at all. The purpose of freeing up the money isn't to use it right away, having flexibility is very valuable.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Exactly, so unless some international players over 23 (I believe that's the date) are going to become available, the amount Hahn can spend is limited. Maybe they are going to reinvest money into adding more scouts? Or one of these academies I hear other teams have? I know that's not 60 million dollars but, I think they can spend the money without people seeing it outwardly.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) I think you just ruined everyone's day (besides Greg) Why? As you said earlier, once people accept that the team won't be that great next year, this will be easier. People seem to expect it'll be Kenny Williams again and we'll be reloading the offense. I expect them to use some money to bring in some upgrades but nothing major. Perhaps, similar to the Cubs and signing guys to one year deals in the hopes of flipping them.
  17. QUOTE (Downtown518 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 1m Cancel that on Leury Garcia. Was told will be a player to be named or cash. #WhiteSox #rangers I find it funny the idea that we would trade a guy and just get cash, or basically sell the guy off. Like it's the early teen 1900's era. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS Rios traded to texas with $1M for ptbnl Hot prospect watch~!
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Not that it matters in the slightest bit, because Casper Wells is brutal, but does this mean the SOX put him on waivers, someone claimed him, and the SOX just said have him? I thought that past July 31, if someone was claimed on waivers, the teams had a day to figure out a trade, pull the guy back off waivers, or let the other team have the player. Obviously the SOX just said have him, but usually I thought there was a day or two lag time before you know what the outcome of the claim is. Seems like most teams just put the whole roster out there at one time. Some to try and sneak someone by teams, but I have no idea why the Phillies needed Wells. They can find anyone to do what he does.
  19. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 12:58 PM) Do they try to work a deal or just let them have him and his contract?? Probably depends on who it is I'd guess. If it's just a team looking to block with the expectation he gets pulled back, may not have a choice. I think it was Buster Olney but one of the insiders said the Orioles are claiming a ton of people.
  20. First Casper Wells goes and now maybe Rios? R.I.P to Where is he gonna play?
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #WhiteSox’s Alex Rios claimed on waivers. Claiming team not known. Owed $13M next season with $13.5M club option in ’15. MORE 12:52pm · 8 Aug 13 OMG. It's about to go DOWN~!
  22. Here is a link to the story I found online about this: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/...ff-waivers.html
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) How bad and expensive does a player have to be that a team will just give you a top prospect to take him off their hands? It really is unrealistic the way Bernstein describes it. Marty's scenerio makes more sense, but there is no way the Sox are going to eat $20 million to $150 million just for another team's #5 prospect, nor should they. The way he was talking about it on the radio the other day was similar to the discussion that was had here when there was talk of Peavy going to Arizona with Jason Kubel being a bad contract coming the other way. It didn't sound like he was talking about trading for a Cliff Lee type or anything. More of a case where a guy has 1 yr left on his deal at a higher dollar amount. So more like the Sox trade DeAza or someone and agreeing to take back a high priced contract and hopefully getting a higher prospect in return. Much like how people have said if the Sox gave more money to Boston they could've gotten a higher prospect back. I think the way I described it is closer to what he meant then a big name, big money deal.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) SportsCenter ‏@SportsCenter 4m THIS JUST IN: NFL Pro Bowl will no longer have AFC vs. NFC format. Teams will be chosen with fantasy-like draft. (via @AdamSchefter) That's cool. I wish all the leagues would do this for the all-star games to make them more fun. I recall the NHL did something like this where the players choose the teams recently.
