  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) SportsCenter ‏@SportsCenter 4m THIS JUST IN: NFL Pro Bowl will no longer have AFC vs. NFC format. Teams will be chosen with fantasy-like draft. (via @AdamSchefter) That's cool. I wish all the leagues would do this for the all-star games to make them more fun. I recall the NHL did something like this where the players choose the teams recently.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) This thread is closing in on 100k views. Maybe time for a new thread?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) Despite interest from the Red Sox, A's, D'Backs, and Cardinals, the sense is the White Sox are coming down on their asking price for Peavy, tweets Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com. The sense? Either they asked for lesser players or they didn't!
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) He's going to get traded to the Cardinals who trade him to the A's who trade him back to the White Sox. Confirmed. I can't run with this report unless you have this confirmed from 2 sources!
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) Rios would veto a trade to the Yankees. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) I don't think so. Battle of sources here!
  6. Will anyone be surprised if Peavy ends up with with a team that hasn't been mentioned? What comedy that would be.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) Merkin says Yankees are interested. Do they have anything good to offer?
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) Most users ever online was 727 on Jul 17, 2007 -> 05:25 AM We're not even close. What happened on that seemingly incredibly boring day? Looks like the Sox played the Tribe that day and Ozzie did some great bullpen work. http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=270717105
  9. I'd guess Lindstrom just ends up as a throw in type guy in either a Peavy or Rios trade.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Tekotte got sent down to make room for Rienzo. I didn't even know he was still up with the team. Guess I'm not watching enough!
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) It would be a way for the Sox to eat money without technically eating money. Rogers floated this as Kubel could take Rios' spot for the rest of the year. Kubel however has been awful this year and the second half of last. But if it means the Sox get better prospects, what's the harm? If he's basically just a throw in for Peavy that as you said would be a form of eating contract $ then that's fine.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) https://twitter.com/ChiTribRogers/status/362276040808202240 No, Phil. Go away. He's floated that a million times this year it seems. Kubel is 31 and has 5 homers this year in 70 games. He had 30 last year in 141 games. Either way, why would you trade Peavy for a going on 32 year old outfielder? This team needs young, cost controlled players.
  13. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Rosenthal says to not rule out Dbacks on Peavy. Keep in mind Rosenthal has always been all over the White Sox when it comes to trades Ken has been all over the place on Peavy the past few days. Either things are changing by the hour, or it's just a bunch of smoke out there and he's getting some bad info.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) Hahn the manipulator. I love it. Playing his cards well. We'll have to come up with a one of those clever internet nicknames for Rick if it plays out like people are theorizing.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) The question is, if the Sox wait until the offseason, will Peavy's value go down even more? Always hard to say what would happen going into next year, or even at the deadline. I find the Peavy thing very interesting. We can debate the quality of the players, but from a volume perspective, the Cubs got a lot in return for Garza. He's in his walk year, and also has shown to be very injury prone. We're hearing that teams are scared of Peavy because he has the extra year at high dollars and he's injury prone. You would think having Peavy the extra year, would be a help because the days of getting a FA at the deadline and letting him walk for picks are over. We all know about the extra money all teams are getting due to the new TV deal, so I'm not sure what the big concern is over the money Jake is owed. With the extra wild card non-sense they have now, it's imparitive for teams to win their divison to ensure the money that comes with being in the postseason. I laugh at the things we read on Twitter where it's claimed teams will give us prospects if we pay his salary, but if we don't then you get garbage back. Please. I totally understand the injury risk with Jake and why the Sox might feel the need to dump him right now, but if they aren't going to get anything great now. Do we think they'll get that much less in the off-season? When at that point, you never know what team might be interested in making a splash. Now, it's limited to a select few teams with the $$$/Farm/Playoff Chance to make it work.
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:50 AM) Maybe they replace Gonzo with Jim Margulus from SSS . That would please many Sox fans. They already filled the spot it seems: http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-sports-m...-white-sox-834/
  17. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:41 PM) It's working fine on my Apple TV. I missed the start. Did we trade Steve Stone? Who's the replacement? I didn't see the start of the game but, they normally use Mike Huff as a fill in when Steve is out.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 08:20 AM) This all sucks, and is all garbage that you or I have already pointed out ad nauseum, but it also does not = the hot seat. EDIT: At least not in my eyes. We'll see how I feel after Game 4 tonight. If only I can find NBCSN. Tonight's game and the rest of the series is on NBC and not the cable channel.
  19. Article in the Trib said it was a letter from Rocky to CSN that asked for her to be removed from Hawks broadcasts. Not sure why CSN had to fire her then. Couldn't put her somewhere else?
  20. I'll guess De Aza, Reed, Veal as guys who are popular that if we traded people wouldn't be happy with the return. I know money wise it wouldn't make sense for what he seems to be implying. I'm not sure it would be Konerko since he also was getting surgery on his wrist in the off season right? So, I'd imagine that would put his value down, plus he has 10/5 rights so that is also in the way, I'd think he waive them but only to certain teams out west.
  21. QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) There isn't anything more to this than the normal "If he's still here, Hahn will take over when Kenny leaves" is there? The talk is that Hahn is taking over now and that Kenny is going to be promoted to VP of Baseball.
  22. I didn't hear the clip yet. According to the Sox website he would still be under contract to them; but I'm sure Jerry would let him out if he felt it wasn't working or he had a better gig elsewhere.
  23. Today was the lights clearly but, it seems like he has had some bad moments when he plays LF. Is he just better off playing CF only if they are going to use him in a reserve role?
