QUOTE(bmags @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) VH1 needs to act quickly to restore my faith in their programming! I want to know when VH1 plans on releasing DVD sets of the entire I Love The 80's, I Love the 80's Strikes Back series. After that is available, if ever, my programming choices for the network will be limited to Best Week Ever and Hogan Knows Best.
  2. These type of reports are responsible for unfair expectations. I'd be more enthusiastic if I knew who the hell Frank Neville was. "Low to mid 90's fastball" is realistically low 90's, and perhaps once or twice rearing back for 93. "Barry Zito with velocity" is realistically Barry Zito before 2006. Without the devastating curveball he featured upon arrival. Still, everything considered, Gonzalez should be a vital component of our future rotation. I'm eagerly anticipating his arrival.
  3. Garcia is starting for Philadelphia right now on ESPN.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) Look at our lineup....even a good hitting coach couldn't get this offense to be average. Someone has to be blamed for our league worst offense, and it's between Williams and Walker. Who do you think stands a larger chance of losing their job? It may not be fair, but it's what has to be done. Change is necessary.
  5. I take it this is the post game thread. What can you say -- Batista was throwing pure filth up at the plate. And, according to Hawk, his innate ability to locate pitches inside to righthanded hitters was too much to overcome. TIP YOUR CAPS!
  6. Ozuna in. This should instantly spark the offense.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) How many games out will we be on June 1st? At this rate, probably 6 games. If we're lucky.
  8. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 2, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) Another stellar offensive game. 5 hits through 6 innings against a crappy pitcher. He has made our righthanded hitters look more uncomfortable then I have seen ALL season from a RHP.
  9. Good job thus far for Danks. Despite the numerous hard hit fly outs, he's done well changing speeds and locating his fastball. Just hope he doesn't make one mistake and lose the game

  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 2, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) .258-.239-.226-.189-.210-.174-.222-.000-.219 The objective of baseball is for the lowest scores to win, right? You know, like golf?
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 2, 2007 -> 01:09 PM) I keep seeing this thread title of "White Sox Loser" and was wondering if Hawk and DJ could ditch the "Pick to Click" thing and have a daily "White Sox Loser" recipient. Would sound like this: Hawk: DJ, tonight I'm going to pick Paulie as my White Sox Loser. I predict he will go 0-4 with 2 GIDP and 6 LOB. DJ: I'll have to go with the same guy 3 games straight....Joe Crede. Hawk: Jim Angio and the crew are going with AJ as their White Sox Loser. I like where you're going with this. (Konerko pops out) Hawk: And with every Konerko suicide shrug Alex Snelius will donate another $100 to White Sox charities in loving memory of wife, Ursula. As of this season, Alex has donated an approximate one million dollars.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) Remember, Terrero did homer yesterday. That could earn him a few starts in a row. The question here is which Guillen philosophy will win out -- playing the "hot hand" (which with the White Sox is anyone hitting greater than .250), or going with the traditional righty/lefty matchup. Righthanders have fared well against Bautista, so it'll be interesting to say the least. If Terrero does start today he may easily eclipse my self imposed mark of May 18th as the day Anderson's total April ABs (17) have been passed.
  14. Scientific experiment, eh? I assume you're aware the sampling variability among Soxtalk members shouldn't be extracted across a population parameter. Gender and age distributions are in no-way representative of the general population. Also, which quantitative methods have you planned for assessing statistical significance? Do you plan on setting a standard marking of .05 as the p-value for determining whether the null hypothesis is present within the experiment? .......... Boobies. Liriano.... 22, 6'2
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 12:11 AM) Should be a fun, pathetic lineup today. My prediction is: Erstad (1B), Iguchi, Dye, AJP, Crede, Mackowiak, Uribe, Cintron, Sweeney You may not be far off. Konerko hasn't fared well against Bautista (albeit in 8 AB's), and despite our offensive struggles, he could certaintly use a break. Mackowiak and Erstad have hit him well under similar circumstances of limited ABs.
  16. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) Have the sox blown out a single team this year? Buehrle's no-hitter, won 6-0, is the closest this current team has had to a blowout.
  17. Dye better start turning himself around offensively. Not only for this team's sake, but for the purpose of receiving Class-A compensation when he leaves. It'll be a crying shame if both him and Buehrle would only give us a 1st round sandwich pick.
  18. Three run deficit may as well be ten with this struggling offense, and Washburn -- he of fifteen pitches and disgusting deception -- on the mound.

  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 06:25 AM) How is OK to assume those guys will make an impact in the future yet we can't do that with Lance Broadway or Egbert? Total hypocrisy. First off, I've never discounted Egbert. Second, to believe Broadway is destined for anything in the major leagues resembling an "impact" is to discount his minor league track statistics. He's essentially a soft-tossing righthander without control. Don't forget about his back, either. The signature continues. I'm sorry.
  21. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) I'm calling out anyone who is willing to make that sacrifice for Lincecum. You are not a Sox fan, and you don't know jack s*** about baseball. :uhoh
  22. QUOTE(IamPabloOzuna @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) please tell me im not the only one who doesnt like this idea...the kid needs to start, hes fire...electric...absolutely unhittable But how does he compare to Lance Broadway? That's the question.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:22 PM) He's s***ty at helping young developing players. I don't know why he seems to like Sweeney more than the others, either. I don't know if it means anything, but Guillen refers to Ryan Sweeney as Rico Suarez..... That may have something to do with his admiration of Sweeney.
  24. Here's an obvious advantage of selecting high in the draft. Tim Linecum's just don't fall to #25.
  25. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) I can just see it now, if Terrero plays against all lefties after BA hardly got to play at all...that will be funny. I almost wish Ozzie would do it, just because it would outrage soxtalk and wsi so much. He has the entire month of May to receive more than 17ABs. I believe he'll pass that mark by the crosstown series, May 18th. Then the accusations of racism and Anderson hatred can reemerge.
