QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Why the f*** was Boone Logan still in this game? Unbelievable. Ozzie should b**** him out for blowing the game now. I honestly have no problem with the decision. Let's be honest -- down 4-0 entering the 9th we probably weren't going to come back with half our potent hitters out. I'd rather save the other bullpen arms then worry about Logan's confidence.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) I'm not KW but you know that's not what happened. I'd bet anything that the Sox liked Vazquez more than Young and expected Anderson to, you know, not suck. Which again reflects on their inability to project Anderson as a major league ballplayer. No one can convince me trading Rowand and Young in one offseason didn't give the impression that the organization was 100% behind Anderson.
-
What you fear is Guillen understands the pitiful nature of the offense tonight and pushes Dye, Mackowiak, Thome (or any combination) too soon. I'd rather lose now then risk a Podsednik situation where we're paying for their absence later in the season.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) These injuries are really diminishing our talent on the field. Atleast our minor league system will provide several good alternatives in the event Mackowiak, Thome, or Dye are injured for a prolonged period of time. Right? I mean, atleast one person who can hit .260 and provide good defense. Right?!

Fans sound like they're getting on Anderson, as they should. He missed a slider on a f***ing tee. 8th strikeout for Durbin. Another embarrassment.
-
Man, better set up the VCR for this inning. We could be witnessing magic. I'll just use the same tape I recorded Buehrle's no-hitter. This is much more special.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) Durbin has a grand total of three career starts with 6+ IP and 0 runs allowed: 8/10/2004, 7/13/2001, and 7/18/2001 How many have been 7+IP and 0 runs allowed? We may be witnessing a great sight, here. A career night from Chad Durbin. I wish this game were broadcasted on Comcast so I could tape the replay.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) The funny thing, is that after 2 good games against the Royals and their embarassment of pitching everyone thinks that Kong is magically fixed. Well he looks like s*** tonight. So maybe those 2 games were what we call a blip on the Paully slow start o meter. You think Santana has the possibility of sending an offense into a slump? Just wait until the next few days pass and the "Durbin Effect" sets in.
-
Konerko's AB was embarrassing. We need baserunners, and after a 3-0 he swings at two consecutive inside pitches -- the last resulting in a weak popup. These are the simple parts of a game you'd expect someone to know. Or atleast a hitting coach to reinforce.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) So how are we going to defend Ozzie on this one? He's completely backed the team into a corner in this one. Brian Anderson is a seriously bad hitter. He missed two fat pitches down the plate. Anderson deserved to strikeout. If Leyland has any sense he'll realize he's gotten away with murder tonight and immediately remove Durbin. This team won't touch Ledezma.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Terrero? I was thinking in Ozzie terms, here. Terrero isn't lefthanded. If Mackowiak goes down, he'll need another one.
-
GOD DAMMIT!!! ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME? How many meatballs has Durbin thrown this game? It's unbelievable frustrating to watch.
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) So if Mack has to come out what do we do? Our lineup tomorrow may be disastrous if Mackowiak, Dye, and Thome are out. If Mack's down for a significant amount of time, which no one knows at this point, I imagine Sweeney would be called up.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) Danks = No run support. Cmon, now. How can you legitimately expect Danks to receive run support when his last three opponents have been Paul Byrd and Chad Durbin twice. Teams just aren't going to score many runs off those two.
-
That's why you put your best outfielder in LF.
-
Explain me the rationale behind throwing several fastballs to Sheffield. Considering his curveball and changeup have shown promise tonight, it's ridiculous to challenge Gary with a fastball anywhere in the zone
-
I haven't seen so many sliders missed since Kirk "Hanging Slider" Sarloos last faced us. Atleast to his credit he's known for throwing a decent slider, not as a bum -- as Durbin is. Even Hawk and DJ are having trouble explaining this. He's made, at the least, two extremely hittable pitchers per AB.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 07:05 PM) That sucks, I'm still blocked out. You should have thought about that before attending NIU. Ah, the joy of never having to worry about games being blacked out.
-
That's odd, ESPN hasn't blacked out the game. I suppose that's good news for people who are outside the immediate boundary of Illinois and unable to watch WCIU, yet close enough where ESPN and MLBTV block games.
-
QUOTE(kane0730 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) Anderson at DH allows Thome to pinch hit for him. If he was in LF, then they'd be forced to sub in Dye. Same could be true of Ozuna at DH. It's just another odd decision from Guillen. Even when you look at the lineup, and do everything possible not to vomit, you'd assume that Anderson in LF would be a fairly easy decision. Guess not.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Are the other contending teams having their starters pitch 8 and 9 innings each night? Am I missing something here? Yes, you are. Following Buehrle's no-hitter last week, the starting pitchers have respectively lasted: 6, 4.2, 7 (10 inning game), 8 (12 inning game), 7, and 6 innings. I don't care about other contending ballclubs. After tonight there are four straight games. It's not just the extra innings games which have pushed our bullpen, but several starters (such as Danks) not lasting six innings.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) I have a feeling the Sox would like for this game to not be played in order to rest our bullpen. It's sad that we're again hoping for an offday to rest a fatigued bullpen. What's going to happen in the summer?

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) They could send it tomorrow and none of us, nor our grandchildren, nor their grandchildren, nor THEIR grandchildren, ect would ever find out. As fo August of 2006, The Voyager 1 space craft is only .002 light years from the sun and It's been out in space for over 29 years!!! At that rate, it would take 297,250 years to reach this newly found planet. Hmm. We could update the old song from Zager and Evans. In the year 299,257 If man is still alive If woman can survive, they may find....

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) I saw them talking about this on the news. This is really interesting. I wonder how long until they send something out there to check it out. I'm guessing it's going to be quite awhile before anyone thinks about that. We'll be lucky to reach anything even one light year from Earth, yet alone twenty. There are probably billions of planets similar to Earth out in the solar system. Wake me when we find an Earth-like planet with Earth-like creatures roaming on it.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) Another prospect I really like is Michael Main. I doubt he falls to us and I doubt we would pick him anyways, but his fastball tops at 98-99 mph. He's also a great athlete; 4.4 40 speed, would prob be a 5th-10th round pick as an outfielder. But then again, I hope he decides to go to college. FSU could use a pitcher like that. Main is definitely a Top 15 draft pick based upon his arm alone. He's one of those pitchers whose stock won't fall, regardless of his senior statistics, unless an injury occurs. As of now, If I had to provide a realistic draft board based upon players I feel may be available at #25, it'd be Jarrod Parker, Matt LaPorta, then Greg Peavey.
