  1. And they lack ambition because everyone from the top to bottom is comfortable. God knows how many people within the organization are enjoying their positions due to JR’s loyalty
  2. I just can’t get over Alonso and Jay. I thought there’s just no way a conpetent GM would ever bring them aboard unless it would just about guarantee any tiebreaker goes to the Sox. I was naive to believe they’d ever tie any offer above their cheap baseline They literally did everything wrong: raised expectations extending back years, signed/traded for a friend and relative, then provided an incentive laden contract instead of meeting Machados reasonable demands. Hahn/KW/JR all obtained shitlord status after this. The trolling done was beautiful
  3. I can’t wait to read the sarcasm we all throw at every FA signing moving forward.
  4. You’d think they would tell him one less shitty player, per year, over the course of the contract evens out the deal compared to where they were.
  5. Next week starts another exciting year of White Sox irrelevance. How different it would have been hitting camp with Machado. Ton of positive buzz and energy around the team
  6. I can’t fault the Padres or Tatis/Machado. I get their success doesn’t reflect well on us, but it’s not their fault Hahn is an idiot and JR is cheap. Id rather hope Eloy does that mystical thing prospects do across the league every season......succeed immediately.
  7. Both. He was surprised Machado didn’t accept their inferior deal.......and they weren’t going to 300/10.
  8. Next few weeks we’ll be scraping up the bottom of the FA heap to give you more forgettable players.
  9. Id love to hear Reinsdorf explain to Hahn the differences between two years on a contract, and how it’ll potentially cripple the team 8 years in the future when such an amount due to inflation wont even seem as high
  10. On ESPN or Twitter? Id love to hear the national perspective on our misery
  11. You’ll probably have to throw the opt-out in there, but everything else I’d be up for. Although I think it’ll take 350 to beat the Phillies at this point.
  12. What I almost fear now is a panic trade of prospects for veterans and using the payroll flexibility to scoop up the second tier FAs, acting like this has been the plan all along.
  13. I had faith in his word, but I dont blame Gomez for whatever angle he was running. That includes WSD. All the attention should be focused on the failures of the front office
  14. Don’t blame Machado. Blame your team. Why didn’t we offer the same as the Padres then and test that theory? Also he obviously didnt want to play for the Padres from day 1.....because they werent involved at day 1. Money won in the end as it usually does.
  15. Absolutely, a three month long tease. Didn’t management have any idea through Soxfest, online, or any other avenue how badly fans wanted Machado? We’ve spent MONTHS fantasizing about it. If the Padres lost it, would they even be upset? How long were they in the discussion, a few weeks? I’d like to think JR has learned a lesson, but I doubt it. This one move completely soured everyone to the team. Bring Machado on board, maybe make a few moves, theyre definitely winning more games. Fans would be excited for the future, revenue increases, everyones happy. Well except JR because he’s worried about years 7-10 for a 26 year old elite talent
  16. The master negotiator Hahn was probably overjoyed telling JR that we’re positioned to have Machado for far under the price everyone expected.
  17. I agree, I meant for the person saying “lets wait for all the details before making judgement”
  18. You are never going to know all the details of the White Sox offer to compare it to. However the most important point here is the White Sox lost the bidding for Machado and Kw/Hahn are both giving different excuses
  19. I don’t agree with the team first aporoach. You need to add talent where you can, when you can. We were going to sign Machado because we thought we were competing in 2019 or even 2020. It was going to be a move for the years after when this team would hopefully be competitive. Also, if we’re going to reference the Astros we need some production from the minors. Like right now. One of my biggest pet peeve’s about the White Sox fan base is everyone is just so complacent when it comes to the minor-league players. “Not everyone succeeds immediatey.” “He may need 3-4 years to contribute at the major league level.” No this is unacceptable. We can not wait 3-4 years for Moncada, Kopech, Cease, Eloy or else there’s no competitive window. Eventually it needs to come together at the SAME TIME. Someone like Eloy needs to contribute immediately. Many young players around the league do it every year, its nor unheard of. If we cannot do this, then we are fucked. How else will a championship team be assembled?
  20. But its not guaranteed money! Why not offer 300 and possibly make it 350 then?
  21. No way. Unless theyre really dumb enough to try the same failed proposal
  22. But these guys really want to win. Oh and apparently theres no set mark on how high theyre willing to go for a player. Unless it’s Machado or Harper
  23. Ok, but we’re not congratulating them on the competitiveness of the offer right? If you want to move on, fine. The hard lesson here is not to trust the White Sox until Reinsdorf dies, sells the team, or does something to prove he’s willing to pay a player more than he thinks is financially acceptable
  24. Who would want to make that bet? The goal is guaranteed money. Sox couldn’t provide it and theyre losers once again
  25. Cmon. You really believe he’d turn down more guaranteed money? It’s nonsense, our deal was not better than San Diego or else he would have taken it
