  1. Next year that “happy to be here” excuse goes away. They’ll have to earn it over a (likely) 162 game season. Anything less is a disaster. 2021 is what everyone is saying right? All those other rebuild teams took the next step after an initial playoff loss right? Hahn is going to have his work cut out this offseason
  2. I think that’s the truth. They weren’t pushed by RR either. He may have thought the division and seeding was in the bag. Maybe he didn’t care. But all i know is, we’ll look back at 2020 as a great step forward with the rebuild....followed by a late season collapse.
  3. Any other positional players we can throw out for a couple relief innings?
  4. I believe most here are happy they made the playoffs, but understandably upset with how the last week has gone. Are you excited about Tue? I’m not, and I’d be shocked if anyone else here is either. We expect an early exit This season has been a great step forward for the rebuild, but it’s not done. And now let’s see how they perform in the coming season with some expectations
  5. 82-83 win team that benefited tremendously from a shortened season and an expanded playoff seeding. Regardless, now the expectations have started and anything less than a repeat playoff appearance will be unacceptable. Hahn has yet another tough offseason ahead of him. There needs to be quite a few upgrades (notably RF and in the starting rotation)
  6. With a pitcher like Lopez he just doesn’t find his command out of nowhere, and he hasn’t earned the right to battle through terrible innings. We’re playing for a division title. Oh and I know it doesn’t matter to many, have to keep everyone fresh for Tue, but with this guy there shouldn’t be a “one batter too late” mentality. You take him out early to avoid these early, demoralizing blowouts.
  7. I know this isn’t any consolation right now, but I think this is exactly what had to happen to rid themselves of RR. Have the team go through a demoralizing series with one questionable decision after another, dragging ass into the playoffs, is enough for MOST fans to overlook the “first playoff appearance since 2008” or “if you would have told me before the season started” lines I’ve seem thrown around here. Fire RR, fix the roster problems, and enter next season with some momentum.
  8. He has an amazing changeup from what ive seen
  9. We could potentially be .500 or below and be a wild card spot. That’s absolutely a disappointment to not reach, even with the unknowns
  10. It just feels demoralizing as a fan. Like you know it’s still early in a sense, and 1-4 isn’t insurmountable, but these games have been a quick reminder of how far this team has to go.
  11. Yep. Only so few reasons you’d divorce your pregnant wife before the child is due.
  12. It’s in everyone’s best interest for Kopech or someone from his camp to put out a statement. It’s unfair for others to have to comment on his behalf; and without anything official you allow someone like Cooper an opportunity to give his opinion and ignite the rumor mill. He can thank the fans and teammates for the concern, suggest he’s sitting out due to personal reasons (without having to fully divulge the info), and he’ll be ready for the 2021 season. Everyone’s happy, especially the meatheads, and we move on. Then he can seek whatever assistance he needs
  13. I’d rather watch Mazara struggle for 500+ ABs then accept whatever minimal value we’ll get from Puig. Why not let Mazara succeed or fail on his own, without distractions and the inconsistent ABs that would come with signing Puig? Does anyone really believe he will accept being a backup OF for an entire season? Once Mazara struggles for a prolonged period, Ricky will eventually side with the seasoned veteran. Just like Ozzie, you don’t give your manager tools that will be misused.
  14. I believe I read this comment all across Soxtalk last offseason, too. How exactly do we plan on going “all in” ? With the weak FA market? By trading whatever is left from the minors? It sounds like you’re trying to reassure yourself, and maybe a few others, this was all part of the plan.
  15. It’s never going to change, until you know who dies. Even then, the successor/benefactor/whomever may operate the organization top to bottom the same; but atleast then there’s a possibility of change.
  16. They definitely need a #3 SP to move along the narrative, and it sure as hell won’t be from free agency. I feel Vaughn and Madrigal are apart of a trade proposal. There’s no one else (aside from Robert) that I could imagine them including to entice someone to give up a cost controlled, young SP with #3 potential.
  17. I’ll screenshot this when the sentiment in 2021 becomes, “Well guys it’s going to take a few years for everything to come together. 2022 is the time you can start evaluating the rebuild”
  18. Do we have another source aside from Nightengale about the White Sox offer? I’ve read a lot of comments mentioning we beat out Philadelphia with a higher bid, but I’m wondering if that’s Sox Math where its more like $100 mil guaranteed and the $120 is reached through team friendly options and unobtainable performance incentives.
  19. Exactly, and that’s why I’d rather extend Wheeler a sixth season and suffer through it in 2026 (likely at the end of our competitive window) than sit here and wait for......who exactky? There are no good options
  20. He doesn’t sound very confident. Honestly, I dont either. The White Sox don’t win bidding wars. They have a set price Jerry feels comfortable with, and will not go beyond it. We all know how this goes. White Sox lose out, news is released that their offer had some goofy deferred payment or performance related stipulation that didn’t guarantee as much money. Honestly, don’t even fool the fanbase with Cole and Strasburg if you miss out on Wheeler.
  21. Jimenez not so much. I cant wait for the day a highly touted white sox prospect succeeds immediately. Ive heard it does happen all across baseball every year
  22. That’s my fear too. Everything suggests Eloy will be an impact player, but this is the White Sox. Every plan we have moving forward is assuming he succeeds. The rebuild is dead otherwise.
  23. This rebuild has to have those type of prospects, rare around the southside, who immediately succeed. And then (this is even rarer....) maintain that success! I know such an idea is unheard of among Sox fans but it does happen across the league every year. We can’t just expect every prospect to follow a Moncada/Giolitto timeline or else they’ll never be competing for anything
  24. True. There literally does seem like there’s no tomorrow with FA. No one else the fans should be excited about, atleast
  25. Yeah we better start getting some great production from the minors
