  1. You’re right, I didn’t see Garcia is expected to sit out too.
  2. It’s on Hahn as much as it is TLR. They’re purchasing contracts of AAAA players and giving their manager an opportunity to play them in place of Vaughn.
  3. It’s opening day too. Why not let him experience it at home for the first time? No one in that stadium is paying to see Williams in LF
  4. Such a scenario would suggest this all may end up working in our favor, and I’m skeptical we’d ever be as “fortunate” as to have that happen. We lose a season of Eloy...but perhaps gain more in the coming years with him at DH. Who knows how many years of Eloy goofs we’d have to go through before the final “enough already he’s a DH” sentiment from yesterday? Perhaps the next one would involve Robert or Moncada? I’m obviously just throwing around hypotheticals, but if we are going down the possibility of Vaughn succeeding in left field and Eloy at DH, then this all needed to happen...... (Cue Dr Strange’s million plus scenarios clip)
  5. He should be excited to be given an on-field position. I wouldn’t expect him to say as much, but before today he was sitting as the DH with the possibility of being sent down. No one expects him to make up for Eloy’s absence, but if he is anything above the worst defensive OF in MLB it will be an Improvement
  6. I agree. It’s too late, and we’re at too much of a disadvantage, to even bother trying to replace Eloy outside the organization. There will be no fair value trade with Vaughn. I just hate that it becomes a convenient excuse if he struggles. “How do you expect him to hit when he’s learning a new position!?”
  7. I agree, they’re more than one year away..... from being a championship contender. However, the expectation should be set of the White Sox making the playoffs every year now. Regardless of the playoff format, or Minnesota and Cleveland, we cannot take any steps back from here.
  8. I agree, they can’t count on this extended playoff format being around. There needs to be a lot of roster and personnel changes entering next season. This is not a championship team
  9. Im oddly at peace after these first two games. Unless Game 3 is a continuation of the terrible games from the last two weeks, a “good loss” like today wouldn’t be shameful. I expected a sweep coming into Oakland.
  10. Next year that “happy to be here” excuse goes away. They’ll have to earn it over a (likely) 162 game season. Anything less is a disaster. 2021 is what everyone is saying right? All those other rebuild teams took the next step after an initial playoff loss right? Hahn is going to have his work cut out this offseason
  11. I think that’s the truth. They weren’t pushed by RR either. He may have thought the division and seeding was in the bag. Maybe he didn’t care. But all i know is, we’ll look back at 2020 as a great step forward with the rebuild....followed by a late season collapse.
  12. Any other positional players we can throw out for a couple relief innings?
  13. I believe most here are happy they made the playoffs, but understandably upset with how the last week has gone. Are you excited about Tue? I’m not, and I’d be shocked if anyone else here is either. We expect an early exit This season has been a great step forward for the rebuild, but it’s not done. And now let’s see how they perform in the coming season with some expectations
  14. 82-83 win team that benefited tremendously from a shortened season and an expanded playoff seeding. Regardless, now the expectations have started and anything less than a repeat playoff appearance will be unacceptable. Hahn has yet another tough offseason ahead of him. There needs to be quite a few upgrades (notably RF and in the starting rotation)
  15. With a pitcher like Lopez he just doesn’t find his command out of nowhere, and he hasn’t earned the right to battle through terrible innings. We’re playing for a division title. Oh and I know it doesn’t matter to many, have to keep everyone fresh for Tue, but with this guy there shouldn’t be a “one batter too late” mentality. You take him out early to avoid these early, demoralizing blowouts.
  16. I know this isn’t any consolation right now, but I think this is exactly what had to happen to rid themselves of RR. Have the team go through a demoralizing series with one questionable decision after another, dragging ass into the playoffs, is enough for MOST fans to overlook the “first playoff appearance since 2008” or “if you would have told me before the season started” lines I’ve seem thrown around here. Fire RR, fix the roster problems, and enter next season with some momentum.
  17. He has an amazing changeup from what ive seen
  18. We could potentially be .500 or below and be a wild card spot. That’s absolutely a disappointment to not reach, even with the unknowns
  19. It just feels demoralizing as a fan. Like you know it’s still early in a sense, and 1-4 isn’t insurmountable, but these games have been a quick reminder of how far this team has to go.
  20. Yep. Only so few reasons you’d divorce your pregnant wife before the child is due.
  21. It’s in everyone’s best interest for Kopech or someone from his camp to put out a statement. It’s unfair for others to have to comment on his behalf; and without anything official you allow someone like Cooper an opportunity to give his opinion and ignite the rumor mill. He can thank the fans and teammates for the concern, suggest he’s sitting out due to personal reasons (without having to fully divulge the info), and he’ll be ready for the 2021 season. Everyone’s happy, especially the meatheads, and we move on. Then he can seek whatever assistance he needs
  22. I’d rather watch Mazara struggle for 500+ ABs then accept whatever minimal value we’ll get from Puig. Why not let Mazara succeed or fail on his own, without distractions and the inconsistent ABs that would come with signing Puig? Does anyone really believe he will accept being a backup OF for an entire season? Once Mazara struggles for a prolonged period, Ricky will eventually side with the seasoned veteran. Just like Ozzie, you don’t give your manager tools that will be misused.
  23. I believe I read this comment all across Soxtalk last offseason, too. How exactly do we plan on going “all in” ? With the weak FA market? By trading whatever is left from the minors? It sounds like you’re trying to reassure yourself, and maybe a few others, this was all part of the plan.
  24. It’s never going to change, until you know who dies. Even then, the successor/benefactor/whomever may operate the organization top to bottom the same; but atleast then there’s a possibility of change.
  25. They definitely need a #3 SP to move along the narrative, and it sure as hell won’t be from free agency. I feel Vaughn and Madrigal are apart of a trade proposal. There’s no one else (aside from Robert) that I could imagine them including to entice someone to give up a cost controlled, young SP with #3 potential.
