  1. Terrible call by the Panthers. After driving down the field for 5+ minutes they decide to chance the 4th down on a 59 yard field goal?!
  2. Talent finds a way. I believe the whole “Mahones wouldn’t be the same” on the Bears argument is just the coping mechanism our fans have created to justify missing out on a HOF QB. He wouldn’t have been at his current level given KC was the perfect fit; but I believe he’d be closer to his current level on the Bears, then, to believe he would’ve been ruined. Or just some average QB
  3. It will be another talking point if Stroud ends up become a generational talent, but I can’t really blame the Bears. In some alternate reality they’d take Bryce Young, if anything. Similarly, if they have #1 for 2024 they’ll take Williams. It’s like a team would rather fail with the hype than risking out thinking themselves with the #1 “consensus” pick. You of course want the higher pick for additional draft capital, but we could end up with #3 and #5, initially feel disappointed, but end up still having great options with Penix Jr. and Olu at OT.
  4. I wonder if we’ll be saying the same thing next draft, where Williams will draw the #1 pick but Maye ends up being the better quarterback for whoever picks him.
  5. It’s funny how everything worked out for the Texans picking second in the draft. Lovie Smith helped them more than they ever could have known. If Texas did have the number 1 pick, would they still have drafted Stroud? I’m sure they’ll say yes; but I doubt it.
  6. He doesn’t deserve the respect, but my god - that replay showed the defender holding him for 5+ seconds. The second Jones attempted to push off, a flag was thrown.
  7. And Bagent still has a chance to tie this game lol.
  8. Yep. Three INT’s now, and all of them were poorly thrown.
  9. There’s the “oh s%*# New Orleans has no penalties” penalty for the Saints.
  10. Probably not, and that’s how they will control him. No one else wanted Paul. No one else sure as hell wanted to put him in the position the White Sox did. So he better follow the plan of Getz or else he’s back to being an assistant coach. Reinsdorf has taught him well.
  11. Getz must be self aware of how he (undeservedly) made it through the ranks, and now feels like he has to pay it forward by bringing someone unexperienced (even by his standards) to fill his position. That idea of finding the next Getz makes me sense to me than any other reason. You could find a lot of other cheap options who have atleast coached one day in a ML system.
  12. Scott Merkin will happily provide the softball Q and A article that you’re seeking.
  13. They had to try very hard to make the hire sound legitimate. It was a step above saying, “he has 30+ years of professional baseball experience, and now we’re going to break down his time playing going back to t-ball.”
  14. Lol no kidding, especially since our third rounder will likely be higher than theirs! We outbid ourselves.
  15. Well, that was unfortunate. You felt watching the first half it was going to be a 50+ point game for LA. And any QB controversy stops right now. We should be seeing Fields next Sun
  16. After the first completion, I was thinking here starts the quarterback controversy. But there it was, forced fumble for a TD. Bagent has probably never experienced a pocket collapsing like that before in college
  17. A lot depends on how much he turns it around, and for how many games he shows it. I didn’t even know until yesterday that Fields misread the defense when he threw the late INT intended for Kmet. Kmet ran a route on man coverage, Fields thought the Broncos were in zone. That’s….really bad. And it has been one of many issues. I don’t see how it improves, but for your hypothetical, even if he finishes out strong I’d still draft another QB. It’s just time to move on
  18. It’s amazing looking back at the early part of the season and reading how delusional many here were.
  19. That’s an interesting question. In this hypothetical scenario, if Fields is still starting at Week 10 he probably had a few good starts to extend his window a bit further. Even if Fields miraculously turned it around in 7 games and overcame every metric (aside from rushing yards) which has suggested he’s a terrible QB, I can’t believe we’d trust it. At that point, wish him look and hopefully some other team buys into it
  20. You figure, the Bears fans locally are already angry enough with the team. It’s like our fans’ opinions of the White Sox, how much angrier can you really get when the f*** ups keep piling on top of each other? We may see quite a few empty seats two weeks from now. The comments from Fields brought all of the problems to a national stage. Now a larger audience can see how dysfunctional the Bears are. That’s not even including whatever comes of Williams’ resignation; which many have been guarded to comment on. This could get a lot worse
  21. Yeah I believe in this logic too. If Fields fails, Poles can say: “Look i tried to give him the weapons to succeed!” It’s a safer bet for his job security than risking trading him and Fields developing into a great QB. Then at worst, Chicago drafts high again the following season with a better QB class.
  22. He’s not, and I believe most Bears fans, his own teammates, management, and everyone else knows it as well. But of course we have to suffer through the long, painful death of watching him “run out the clock” on the season. We all know the play-Bagent calls we get louder. Now it’s primarily the meatball fans, but soon enough, it will be everyone. Especially staring down 0-3 soon. If we were 0-7 as you mentioned a few days ago, it’d be really tough to justify what - if anything - is gained by throwing out Fields. Bagents evaluation as a competent backup QB would be worth more than throwing out Fields for trade value or tanking purposes
  23. Terrible. After the first drive, Tampa defense made an adjustment and that was it for the Bears
  24. Way too many costly missed tackles.
